I think I'm finally homesick. [ Jade doesn't seem particularly torn up or melancholy about this - thoughtful, more than anything. ] What do you guys usually do about it?

[Alice took a little time to get to Jade, only because she never once was in the Loki district before so she had to navigate that to the best of her abilities. She finally reached Jade's home and knocked on the door.]

Miss Jade! It's Alice!

[nukeoleptic]

[ Jade will just pull the door open, smiling at Alice. An enthusiastic German Shepherd pup will swarm the little girl's feet, circling round them. ]

Hi! Oh, right. I hope you're not allergic to dogs.

Oh no! Not at all! [Alice crouched down to hug the puppy, petting him and scratching behind his ears.] Such an adorable puppy! What is his name?

Osiris!

[ The pup seems overjoyed at the attention, and Jade seems relieved. ]

He's really sweet.

[madcuriosity]

He most certainly is! [Alice stood back up and offered Jade a curtsy.] Hello, Miss Jade. Have you started tea or shall I help with that?

[nukeoleptic]

[ Jade curtsies back a little clumsily, just because she's not really sure how to. ]

I was hoping you'd help, if you didn't mind. I've never really made tea.

I wouldn't mind at all. I'm really very good at making tea, actually! [Alice came inside and looked around the apartment.]

So then, where is your kitchen?

[nukeoleptic]

[ She smiles down at Alice, standing up straight and moving to lead her into a small but clean and well-organized kitchen. ]

Here.. I should have everything.

Well, you''ll need a kettle, the tea you wish to use, a strainer, cups, and.... well, perhaps it would be better if I just look for it. Unless you have the ah... "modern" tea bags.

I, um, I didn't realize I needed equipment! It's just tea bags that I have.

[ She goes to retrieve them-- but at least she has about a half dozen different tea varieties. ]

If you've not a kettle, how is it you've been making tea before now?

[nukeoleptic]

Ummm. I heated the water up in a cup in the microwave.. is that not how you're supposed to do it? I figured hot water was hot water.

[ Jade, you are so not very British. ]

[madcuriosity]

My goodness! That is no way to have tea! [Alice is horrified at how Jade has been making her tea thus far. She looks around.] Not a kettle... oh dear... I've never tried making tea without a kettle.

[nukeoleptic]

Well.. Draco might have one. Actually, I'm pretty sure he does.. let me see.

[ She crouches down, opening one of the cabinets and digging through it... finally pulling out-- ]

This?

[ She holds up a kettle. ]

Ah! You have one! Splendid! Teasing about not having one was a bit mean, Miss Jade. [Alice set about turning on the stove and preparing the water in the kettle.]

[nukeoleptic]

I'm sorry! I wasn't teasing on purpose.

[ Jade will just sort of hover nearby, watching her closely. ]

[Alice prepares the tea, getting everything ready as she puts everything in place and then turns to Jade.]

And now we wait!

[nukeoleptic]

You must be really fond of tea, Alice.

[ But she's watching the kettle, curious. ]

Oh yes! It's my favorite thing to drink! Nothing is quite as lovely as tea with friends! Tea fits every situation you could possibly have!

[nukeoleptic]

It always just sort of tasted like hot water to me. [ She's grinning sheepishly. ] I don't think I'm very good at making it, though.

[madcuriosity]

Then you've simply not had the right tea, hot or cold. [She looks at Jade and then looks at the kitchen.] Are you feeling better, Miss Jade? [She asked somewhat suddenly.]

[nukeoleptic]

Huh?

[ She straightens up, as if embarrassed by the question. ]

Of course, I'm fine! How are you Alice?

[madcuriosity]

Proper tea does not tastes like hot water, proper tea tastes changes water's taste entirely.

[She tilts her head.]

But... you said you were feeling homesick. That's not exactically a "I'm fine" sort of feeling. That's why I came over, after all. And I'm really alright... except I feel a little homesick as well.

[nukeoleptic]

[ She smiles at that, dragging a chair over. ]

Well, then, I look forward to discovering the difference in taste! And.. yes, hehe, you are right. Would you tell me about your home, Alice?

[The whistling kettle was the signal that everything was ready and Alice went about making everything as best she could before looking over to Jade.]

Oh! Ah... well, England is a lovely place, though I've not traveled to many of the cities in it. But Oxford, that's the city in England that I live in, has the University of Oxford and is one of the oldest universities in all of England! My father is the headmaster!
