8 | video + forensics unit filter | MURDER PLOT BODY #1

[ When the feed comes up, Kate is looking grim. Or well, not grim, but serious. There are slight bags under her eyes of her own doing, but her eyes themselves seem to be alive for what feels like the first time in weeks.

She doesn't look happy. In fact, she looks extremely professional, with her mouth in a thin line and her brows furrowed slightly. If you squint, you might just see the cop uniform, the police badge. ]

I need everyone in Asgard to remain inside for the rest of the day if you can. If going outside is necessary, please remain outside of the Odin District.

[ If you're looking at the feed around her, you might recognize an alleyway. It looks like any old alley in the Odin District, so the chances of you recognizing the exact location are slim. Behind her there seems to be a collection of natives - most of whom seem to have a good amount of their color returned, and all of whom look concerned. They're standing behind what looks like a normal piece of rope, held up by two brooms on each side of the opening of the alley.

Kate looks back over her shoulder at them for a minute, which opens up the feed to blood splatter along the wall behind her. There's no view of a body, because she is being very careful to avoid putting that up on the network, but there is enough blood in view for anyone to have a general idea of what's going on. ]

I need everyone to stay behind the rope. Yes, behind the rope, thank you.

[ Kate turns back to the feed, regaining the same professionalism as before. ]

I've been notified by a shopkeep in the Odin District that there's been a murder. We don't know any details yet, but it seems the victim was a native, killed sometime last night. [ She's quiet for a moment, thinking about how much easier this would be if she had more people to call, more things to accomplish, but for now this will do. ] Until the murderer is caught, I would advise everyone to be extremely cautious when they move around the city at night. Don't go out alone, let people know where you're going, and please, please don't go looking for whoever did this.

Just because they seem to have targeted a native does not mean that they won't move on to travelers as well.

If anyone has any information regarding the murder - if you saw or heard anything that you think might be helpful - please feel free to contact me. My name is Kate Beckett and I work with the Forensics Unit out of the Hospital.

Thank you.

[ she cuts the feed off and immediately sets up a filter. ]

FILTERED TO FORENSICS UNIT

I need everyone who does not have any other obligations on site as soon as possible. I've sent the location to each of your bracelets. I've already notified Analie and the rest of the native team to bring all the equipment, but I'd appreciate... [ she looks over her shoulders again at the crowd that seems to still be growing ] any help, really.

It's too early to tell if this is connected to our last case, but I'll let you know if we learn anything. Again, come if you can, and if you can't we'll have a debriefing about it tomorrow morning.

[ ooc: hello everyone! I'm happy to give you the first body, and therefore the first part of the player-run murder plot. If you'd like to be involved with the plot, feel free to contact Owl in that post! This is only the first step in a much longer plot, so don't feel like you're not open to jump in at any time.

Now just to let everyone know, Kate is affiliated with a Traveler-run (with some native hires) Forensics Unit based out of the hospital. She had a post earlier this week mentioning it, but I also wanna put it up here to let everyone know that if you'd like your character to be involved with the Forensics Unit, you can PM me on this account or catch me on plurk (should be in this account under player contact) and we can work out handwaving your character in or getting your character involved. Kate has been working on a sort of directory of colorful natives, which is how she was contacted for this specific murder, and therefore will kind of be taking it over as F.U. territory and will try to keep anyone not involved with the F.U. as distant as possible.

She's open for questioning, of course, and if anyone is curious a description of the murder is over here. Already mentioned in the post, Kate's got it roped off from the natives and also travelers unless she knows you and you're affiliated with the F.U. (which she'd know you through there, so yes) BUT you are free to action it up too!

I've got a tracking post here where I'll try and link everything involved, and I'll try and get posts up for over-all F.U. info too, and I'll link them here when I get that done. I just wanted to get this post up in time! Sorry for the slight delay!

EVERYONE GET EXCITED I KNOW I AM ]

( ooc: just wanted to link you to this so that you know that Natasha has already found the body, had her time to look over the scene and left without leaving a trace. she's now in the crowd, just hanging out to watch the investigation. approved by Owl! )

( natasha's at the front of the crowd by the rope, arms crossed and looking appropriately grim. if she looks nervous around the blood, she's not showing it. instead she seems more focused on the investigation going on, though every now and then her eyes will flick down to the body and the scene at hand.

with the arm that has her bracelet, she has the network feed open, the same one that Kate just broadcast, discretely monitoring responses, aware of people behind her nosing in.

it'll be interesting to see how people react. )

[ Moran's come out to watch the investigation, hoping to see a lot of bumbling about. That's what you see when you watch Scotland Yard handle a case like this which is terribly amusing when you're the one who put the body there.

He didn't put this body here, of course, but he does so love a good murder in the morning.
]

Makes your heart glad, don't it?

[ Because you look so serious, Natasha. Clearly you're as pleased with all of this as he is. ]

( isn't that what you do when the police handle an investigation? wait and watch until they screw up? at the very least, that was what Natasha was doing -- waiting until they missed something, and hoping she could guide them in the right direction without getting involved. because if they were anything like the police back home, they would miss something. a lot of somethings.

noticing someone near her, she closed the feed and glanced next to her, just barely managing a withering look, before the corners of her mouth turned up. so, it was hard to be angry. he had a point. whoever he was. )

I'm not sure anyone else agrees with you.

( NOT EVEN HER. see? see what she did there?! sweeping him over with a long look, she turned her gaze back to the scene. )

You aren't shocked, dismayed or throwing up. Used to this?

They wouldn't, would they?

[ He chuckles, mimics her long, sweeping glance, and turns back to the scene at hand. This is his entertainment for the day (aside from an afternoon round of shooting at passing birds), and by god, he's going to make the most of it. ]

Well, it ain't exactly shocking or dismal or vomit-inducing, is it? For those with a weak constitution, perhaps, but I've been to war. I've gunned down a countless number of natives and I can think of at least a dozen bloodier situations right at this moment.

Mmm.

( is it a little sad that this is also her entertainment for the day? not that she'd admit it, but other than this, there was exploring the city and eavesdropping on anyone she could find (not to mention the network). and .. that was it. perhaps going to a bar tonight. life was boring here. )

It's a bit unexpected, here. As far as I'm aware, there hasn't been anything like this and it came out of nowhere. ( just because he's sharing things doesn't mean she has to! ) Considering what Freya recently pulled.. Fear tactics?

[ Life most certainly is boring here. Moran will take whatever entertainment he can get. Not that it usually meets his standards. This is the man who felt the first battle could have done with being bloodier. ]

Perhaps you weren't around for the oh so sudden bank robbery awhile back. [ He was involved, of course. ] As far as this goes, it's just a touch ineffective, wouldn't you say? After all, I ain't feeling fear, and you don't seem to be either.

Bank robbery?

( oh, she's interested. she would have been all over a bank robbery, yes please. )

This isn't frightening, as far as that goes. I've seen B-rated movies scarier than this. There isn't anything magical about a murder. ( a slight shrug. what Freya had been doing to her memories dreams had been worse, in all honesty. this was just another day at work for Natasha. she'd done worse than this. ) But .. how will people handle it? When we're all cooped up here together? Panic won't help.
