If you'd stopped seeing your girlfriend like her dad told you to, you wouldn't have given her mom a reason to kill you, she wouldn't have got infected and she'd still be alive.

Or if you never got rescued... you'd be dead, but your girlfriend would still have a mom. [ And having a mom is important, right? Even if she tried to murder a sixteen year old boy whose only crime was falling in love with her daughter. ]

Is it your fault her mom is dead?

[ Because this isn't a hypothetical situation and Scott will continue to feel guilty until someone talks some sense into him. ]

The worst part is we haven't even experienced this happen yet. I mean, my girlfriend was told by my best friend from the future that her mom would die this way. She won't remember what will happen when she goes home but it's not something she can easily forget here. [ For obvious reasons. ]

There has to be a way to change the future. [ Especially when her death is the reason a whole bunch of other crap happens. ]

I don't believe it is, no. If you had stayed away from this girl, you would have been denying your heart. Something that's infinitely harder than it seems, and only causes more pain. (And not necessarily just to you. That's important here, Scott)

It sounds as if her mother acted too rashly. (Which is way nicer than just saying she's crazy) You can't be held accountable for that.
