It's been a few weeks and I need a job. I'd say it doesn't matter, but we all know that's a lie. As for what I can do, a lot seems to cover it. The job I did for years fell under a spectrum of secretary one day, office manager the next and outside of that, hunter, investigator, counselor - hell, there was a week there where I was a babysitter. [ No, it... meant more. A lot more. And right, Connor can hear - and see all of this so she's moving past that. ] Not that I want to do that.

Do you need any help? Let me know. Because at this point, I'm a little bored.

What else can I say? I'm hard-working, smart, mature and you can always count on me to tell you the truth. I can use a sword, a crossbow, an axe - I started on the quarterstaff one day but I never got the point. It's a wooden cylinder.

That's pretty flexible! Ne -- what was it about your previous job that kept you doing it?

That kept me doing my job? Being good at what I did. [ And having a good boss, slowly but surely wanting to do everything for the greater good. Transforming herself. Etc. But, this is Cordelia so she won't say any of this to a stranger. ]

Would you consider a job here where the results were longterm rather than short term, and you might not be able to see the effect of your work immediately? We could definitely use your talents, but I'm not sure if you'd find the position as rewarding as your last job!

I'd like to hear your answer first, if that's okay! Cordelia-san sounds very results orientated, so I want to know if I'm interpreting her statements correctly before I tell her about the job.

Could you feel happy taking a position where results weren't always immediate or obvious?

Yeah. You misunderstood me. I think I misunderstood you. I kept doing my job because I wanted to. For the greater good. Every day, that got more clear. But, every single day, I knew what I was doing - it was the right thing. So, I could do something where the means justify the ends. Yeah.

But, seriously, if you could, please let me know what I might be doing?

The position is that of General Staff in the Forensics Department, which is a sub-section of the Hospital Laboratory. We were originally founded to investigate a string of suspicious deaths and have since broadened our investigative horizons to include learning all we can about Asgard, Yggdrasil as a whole, the way magic works in this world -- basically anything that can improve Traveller's understanding of the situation here.

Your position, if you're interested, would mostly be research, with the opportunity to travel to Utgard and beyond, although in times when the city is under attack or a crime has been committed, we might ask you to take on roles such as messenger, crowd control, that sort of thing.

[ Because, research - while it was a part of her job, having that be her whole job - that sounds time consuming. And tiring. She likes being a little more active. Now, anyway. Investigation? She could do. But, research? It sounds like a snooze. ]

Of course! The position's on-going so there's no rush, and you can always find us at the hospital if you want to ask more.

How much research would be involved? Is there investigation, too? Or, would I sitting in a lab in the hospital reading all day?

It's a 9-5 job, though if you'd prefer something part-time that can easily be worked out.

There is a lot of reading, but the material available to us in Asgard isn't exactly complete, so the job involves going to Utgard to use the libraries there, talking to the elves and other races, potentially travelling further. There's also a lot of practical experiementation with our magical abilities, working with Aladdin-kun's group on developing runes and just getting out and observing. The Mission to rescue Freyr's soul that you mentioned is a good example -- we'll be sending a department member along to observe and participate.
