[well, it had to happen sooner or later; months upon months in asgard (all told) without a single curse was pushing it, right?

at first the feed is nothing but breathing. not creepy breathing, but heavier than human breathing would be—followed closely by a series of pretty pitiful whines while seth figures out that there's pretty much no way he's going to be able to manage the bracelet with wolf paws. oops.

so the next best option is, obviously, to just shake his bracelet around until it does something useful, right?

the video feed comes on and it's jittery, shaking all over the place from seth's wiggling. when it settles, all that's visible are the snout and eyes of a very large wolf, with tawny brown fur and extremely expressive eyes.

there's definitely a "help" expression going on there, too. another whine, this one even more pitiful than the first.]

[ ooc: Seth's been cursed into his wolf form! just for a day or two. (He's the one on the left.) There's also an OPEN LOG for anyone who wants to play with/pet/scream at him! ]

[Euri is putting two and two together pretty fast when she sees the name attached to that video.]

Seth! You look so cute!

[if wolves could give "what are you talking about" looks, that's the look seth would have right now. he whines again, draping one paw over his nose.]

What?? Don't give me that face - you're adorable! Where are you??

[HOW IS HE SUPPOSED TO ANSWER THAT QUESTION??? he just gives her a Look as much as he can, wrinkling his nose up at her and then exhaling heavily. the best he can do is move his paw around a little so she can maybe get a glimpse of his surroundings.]

Ah - [That works for her! Mostly.]

Most your head a bit more. I think I recognize the building behind you.

[seth just flops over so dramatically. it's meant to be a gesture of I GIVE UP! but instead it probably just ends up giving euri a good view of the building behind him, which should identify him as in heimdall district.]

[Euri giggles at the sight. She is so reminded of Dog.]

Okay, I think I know where you are! Do you want anything to eat? One bark for yes and two for no.

[although seth is definitely a little offput by this whole stuck-in-wolf-form thing, he's at least glad that euri is having fun with it—it makes him feel a lot better about the situation.

it's not really a bark as much as it is like a whuff of some kind, but there's one, and he nods his head enthusiastically. that's a yes, euri.]

Okay! [She's enthusiastic. While she isn't the best cook she is pretty good at cooking meat.]

Is goat steak okay?

[if wolves could shrug... well, seth tries his best to lift his shoulders! and when that doesn't work, he just tilts his head a little, quizzically.

he's never had a goat steak so he has no real opinion on whether it would be okay or not. but at the very least, considering he's torn vampires apart with his jaws before, it wouldn't be the worst thing he's ever had in his mouth. right?]

Alright. I'll be a little bit, so don't go too far from that building.

[That this would probably happen at some point had occurred to Conan -- he'd seen Ichigo and Samantha's other sides come out forcibly. But he hadn't expected it to be now.]

Clearwater. You're in Heimdall?

[a nod. at least seth can do that much! a long, beleaguered exhale accompanies the gesture.]

Can you find Norman-kun and my house?

[sniffs. you insult his nose, conan! of course he can find your house. another nod, then a quizzical tilt of his head—do you want me to come over?]

Colonel Moran replied to Edward's post about looking for game. I know he's been looking for a tiger for a while -- he might see you as a challenge.

I'll come back to the house as quickly as I can. We should be able to hide you there while we figure out what to do next.

[oh. that's a double threat that seth hadn't even thought about, too caught up in the weirdness of having phased here and the excitement of having his wolf body, even if he knows it's temporary.

seth whines again, shoves his nose under one of his paws, the perfect picture of despair. then he shakes himself out and whuffs something that sounds a little like agreement, hopefully. he's on his way!]

[... well, it seems that the message got through at least. Conan leaves the feed open and starts making his way back from the hospital, through the streets to Seth's log.]

[It can't be... Except there's no denying it, with the screen displaying the boy's name - Seth, who said he wasn't able to phase here. Clearly, Seth had lied to him, to Bella. What else had Seth lied about?

Edward's face says it all: betrayal, anger...

The feed ends abruptly.]

[JUST WHIMPERS IT'S NOT HIS FAULT EDWARD U____U;;;;;]

[YEAH, WELL, TRY EXPLAINING THAT TO HIM IN A FEW DAYS.]

[ Whoa hey now that's a weird thing. Kili furrows his brow and tilts his head at the feed in clear confusion. The heck is a freaking wolf doing with a bracelet? Wolves are bright, he knows well to be wary of their cunning, but using fancy magic bright? That seems a bit far-fetched... though this is larger than any wolf he's ever seen, perhaps close even to a Warg. ]

Do they hand these out even to the beasts of the forest, now?

[ Still, he's wary. Maybe it ate the person it belongs to? Or wounded them? Perhaps he should try to find them and put the monster down before anyone else is harmed... which he'd definitely go for if he still wasn't getting lost in this damned city all the time. ]

[ just the most offended face. if wolves can make offended faces. and an emphatic head-shake and kind of a grumble, to convey his displeasure at the idea of being just a "beast of the forest". ]

[ The observant would likely notice that a wolf is not normally capable of an offended face. The bright would remember that people can be cursed in this place, made into creatures or beasts. The sharp would put these two together and realize, Ah, I see what's going on here. Something is amiss.

Sadly, Kili is none of these things. Kili is, in fact, kind of an idiot. And right now he's thinking that this monster just ate some poor dude or dudette and is playing with their bracelet for kicks because monsters are just kind of jerks like that or something.

Durin's finest is shining bright tonight, that's for sure.

After a final scrutizing look at the screen he leans back, calling over his shoulder without quite taking his eyes off the beast before him lest it do something odd like bite through his screen. He's still not so sure how all these strange magics work. ]

Can a Warg and a wolf have pups?

[ Though unseen by the bracelet's recording, somewhere in the background, sprawled on top of Kili's bed, is Fili. Preoccupied with the dreadful possibility that his small supply of tobacco may be all but gone he sifts through his coat, paying the question little mind. In his reply, spoken without so much as looking up, there's no shortage of distraction nor dry humor. ]

Couldn't say. I never thought to ask them.

[ He would come to regret such inattention very, very quickly, as it takes a moment for Fili to truly realize what was asked.

Not yet. Wait for it. A little longer...

He stills.

. . . Wait, what??

With a well-earned wariness, one borne of decades of experience dealing with his brother's-- well, him, he cautiously asks: ]

...Why?

[whatever a warg is, it just doesn't sound good!! seth isn't really sure if he should take that as an insult or not, but he decides not to, since this guy kind of seems like he's a card short of a full deck.

instead he just whines a little, shaking his head back and forth (not a warg!) before he shakes his fur out as well and settles down to stare balefully at the feed.]

Woah... you're pretty.

[ Someone hasn't figured out the wolf is Seth yet. He'll catch on soon enough. ]

[dang finally somebody's got the right idea! sort of. seth makes a kind of... affirmative whuffing sound (curse his poor communication skills!) and perks his ears up in scott's general direction.]

[ Seriously, why can't he turn into a pretty wolf and not some weird wolf-boy? ]

Can you understand me? Bark for yes. Or howl.

[just the most playfully exasperated look. seth heaves the wolf equivalent of a sigh and whines softly, then yelps once. it's as close to a bark as his dignity will let him give!]

[ There's something way too human about this wolf...

Scott suddenly remembers the conversation he had with Seth about how he could fully turn into a wolf. If this is a curse... ]

...Seth?

[ding ding ding, we got ourselves a winner! seth nods, yipping again just as happily. he's glad somebody figured it out—of course, he expected conan would, but everybody else seems to be having some difficulty.

especially the guys who seem to think he ate a traveler. rude.]

You weren't kidding about turning into an actual wolf... [ Not that Scott ever thought Seth was lying. Unlike Derek, Scott thinks Seth is a werewolf he can trust. ] It must be a curse. I think you'll have to wait it out a few days until it's over.

[another slight nod. seth knows as much; he's been here for a while, after all. but he's not what one might call excited about it, although he is glad to be able to experience his wolf form again—which he thought he would never be able to do.

the way he whines is distinctly unimpressed, although he's also playful about it.]

[ It's a good thing the bracelet shows names with posts, otherwise Allison might've assumed this was one of the people from her home cursed into being a wolf. (It made sense, after all, even if they definitely don't come close to actual wolves back home.) She's still a little surprised to see it, though. ]

Are you okay?

[she's one of the few who noticed the name attached the broadcast, that's impressive. seth is thankful for that, although he does still find it amusing when people mistake him for a real wolf.

he nods a little, exhaling, his ears flicking back and forth. he's okay! a little frustrated by being non-communicative, but okay.]

[ It helps that she's got experience with werewolves. Not that she's assuming he is one, of course, she just figures it's a curse. There was no reason for Scott to turn into his eight year old self, so there might not be a reason that Seth is suddenly a wolf. Right? ]

How long-- [ She pauses and presses her lips together for a moment. Yes or no questions are going to be the best way to go here, obviously. ] Did this just happen today?

[smart girl! seth likes her. he nods a couple of times, then whines again. it's the closest thing to exasperation that he can convey, but there's really no anger or fear in it—he's just like, why did this have to happen?]

[ She tries! ] If it's anything like other curses, it should pass in a couple days.

[a nod. seth has seen plenty of curses, just never been cursed on his own before. it's frustrating more than anything, as his whine would indicate, because he just wants to be able to explain himself and this form makes that really dang hard.]

Are you going to be staying in your room still? [ This leads into another question, she swears. ]

[seth is not currently in his room. he shifts a little so she can see the scenery—he's outside the welcome hall in heimdall, laying on the grass next to the building. a whine.]

[ She watches him for a moment, eyebrows pulling together a little in confusion. Then, when she realizes what he must've thought she meant, she laughs quietly. ] No, I meant for sleeping. Will you be staying in your room at night?

[oh! that makes more sense. but seth really doesn't have an answer for that—the rooms are fairly small in the welcome halls, after all... he whines a little and flattens his ears, blinking at her. doesn't know! he can't really answer that one, either.]

[ Her lips press together for a moment. She's fairly certain that either means "no" or "I don't know" and either way, she feels like she should help him brainstorm places to go. ] Is there anywhere else you could stay?

[oh, that one's okay! conan has already expressed a desire to keep seth in his house for the night, so seth is clear on the whole place to stay thing. he nods slightly and yips a little, softly.]

Okay, good. [ She smiles, obviously relieved. The only real idea she had was putting him in Scott's pet store and that may not have been the wisest; one whiff of him and the dogs may have freaked out. ] If you're staying with someone else, maybe they could help you work the bracelet until you're back to normal, too. I'm guessing it's not very easy to do without any thumbs. Or hands in general.
