kay so couple questions for a new guy

1. why dont people from my world remember things that i remember
2. why the hell was scott like 9 years old

p.s. im bored does anyone else have shadow power? i want to see what this thing can actually do
p.p.s. speaking of shadow power is anyone else from hel not a complete nutjob

You're the second person to ask me that. Filling the hours never seemed to be a problem. I find it is much moreso here.

I guess it gets boring after awhile, doesn't it?

Nothing really to do except talk to people.

I'm used to having more things that require doing, I suppose. There are things here, though. You can find work, if you want to. There are classes on swordsmanship, or just training in the Arena if that appeals, and there's always practicing your ability.

[He tilts his head a little.]

What sorts of things did you do?

Mm. We have to live here. That's a large part of our purpose.

[she shrugs a little]

One of my brothers is a knight, sometimes I ran with him. Or we made jams and jellies, when fruit was in season. I hunted and fished and such. It doesn't sound particularly interesting, but I was rarely ever bored.

So you're like- from the medieval times or something?

You would be able to tell me that better than I could tell you. It is the present to me.

Right. So do you still use horses and stuff to get around?

People do. But as I said, I am a skinchanger. A mount would be superfluous.

[He leans back against a wall then, casual and a little curious in just talking.]

So what's it like? Turning into something else.

It's...well, I didn't think about it very much, because it was just being myself. I've only started considering it now that I cannot anymore.

Really? No- I don't know, instincts or anything?

Ah, well, yes. Sometimes, at least. I was always myself, essentially, just also something else. Being a cat might make string more interesting, but it's a choice, to give into that.

Could you turn into other people too?

I expect so. I never really tried.

Life sucks. It's easier if you're rich, or famous, or- even remotely popular, I guess. It's gotta be easier, right?

No, I don't think it does. Besides, it's just pretending. You wouldn't know the things they know.

Still. It would let you get away with just about anything.

Perhaps. But it's tiring, living lies. And real power is what you can do with your own face.

[He furrows his brow in thought at that before shrugging.]

I guess it's how you look at it.
