[Normally when a person connects to Asgard's network, they greet villagers with a view of their face. However, this particular new Traveller is busy showing the city…snow. In particular, the fresh snow and frost that graced the city just two days prior to his arrival. Lots of snow, because this particular new Traveller just tried to fly and promptly fell into the snow instead. There's a frustrated sound from Jack Frost as he stands up, bracelet turning to face the snow again. Good thing nobody saw that. He's not really thinking about whether anyone can hear or see him though. The whole "being seen and believed in" thing? Still sort of hit and miss with this guy, and he's working under the assumption that most people still can't. However he's very much visible to anyone looking. They'll see a white-haired boy covered in snow and walking through the city like it's no big deal. Oh yeah, and without shoes. He's still not showing his face to the bracelet for the network to see, but he's soon speaking up to talk his way through the situation.]

Uh huh. So the fate of all existence rests within my hands. Thaaat sounds kind of familiar. [Speaking of hands, one of his hands soon appears as he bends down while walking, scooping up some snow to form a snowball.]

What I want to know is who beat me to it. [That snowball starts getting tossed up and down.] Because this? This isn't my work. [The snowball stops getting tossed and he brings it up, presumably, to his mouth to try and work some magic on it. No such luck though. He immediately stops in his path, giving the snowball a curious look.

Okay, well, how about we make it snow? …no luck? What about fros--okay, no luck there either.]

You gotta be kidding me. I mean I get it, I have a new power. [In fact, he's going to test the strength of his new power, using his mind to create snowballs without his hand and allow them to float and hover around him.] …which is kind of cool, I guess. I get that supposedly old powers won't work, but how am I supposed to be a Guardian if I can't even make the snow come?

[Aw well…even if he can't make new snow, there's no sense wasting the snowball that's in his hand. So what's Jack going to do? He's going to take a look around…and that snowball's suddenly getting launched…who knows where. If another traveller's nearby, it might just hit them. Totally on accident. Really. Oh come on, he's still working under the assumption that most people can't see him. Someone missed the memo that when they say everything's been stripped, they mean everything. So assuming that there's no harm done here, he'll just start to walk off with his telekinetically-created snowballs drifting behind him like baby ducks following their mother.]

[...when there are attacks? Give him a second because she may hear him scrambling around in the snow suddenly.] I don't doubt it, but I'm kinda hoping to avoid that all together. [Digging through the snow, don't mind him.] Man, where is it? [Someone's just noticed his lack of staff. He was having a little too much fun with his snowball army to realize it right away.]

Most of us are, I think.

[But that doesn't mean they'll be successful. She pauses a moment when she hears him doing... something or another, then, a touch hesitantly out of concern for disturbing him,]

Jack? Are you okay?

Oh come on! [He's now just kicking up snow as he keeps searching. It's gotta be close by, right?] They already took my powers, did they have to take my staff, too?

[-- Uh oh.]

Did you have it when you woke up?

[Her concern has a sinking feeling in her chest, but someone's got to be practical about this, right? 'Where did you last see it' could use some modification for this situation.]

I don't know. [Admittingly, he was a little too focused on the fact he woke up somewhere else and could make snowballs and things float to really even realize it wasn't in his nearby vicinity.] I think so?

Okay.... [It's a little like a sigh, but not quite.]

That's a start. Have you retraced your steps?

[... That's how it works, right? Something like that? Help how does she normal life--]

That. Is a good idea. [He's stopping his dig through the snow and standing up, starting to walk back in the direction he came while keeping Namine on the line.] They don't actually take stuff, do they?

[-- Phew, she wasn't too far off the mark.]

Mm-- I'm not sure. I didn't exactly come in with much. I think you usually get to keep most of the things you had with you, but... the only way to get anything else from your home world is if the gods decide to give it to you. It happens sometimes, just... not very often.

I don't have anything else except that staff. [He got the others things back that he was missing, so no need to worry about a small little container...it's just the giant stick he's worried about.]

Are these gods ever around? I hear people talking about them like they're pretty untouchable.

[... Well, that... certainly says something about him. She never did have much that was really hers, herself, but that's not exactly something she's sure she's happy to have in common with another. (A real home would have been nice.)]

Oh. I... guess it's not a problem, then.

[Look on the bright side, right?]

Sometimes. They make announcements every once in a while, and now and then we have opportunities to speak with them. ... But it may not always be a good idea. [Another heads up, there.]

[He's kind of got a home. His home's sort of just wherever the wind feels like taking him, though lately he's found himself visiting the other Guardians more often. But beyond that? It's hard to put a real ownership on anything that isn't his staff and his magic. He doesn't address her first sentence though because he's honed in on the second half of what she says.]

Why not?

[Perhaps it's an advantage he has over her, then. It's not one she'd begrudge him, if she knew - better a sort-of home everywhere than no real home anywhere. Anything that came close back in her world was--... well, complicated. Asgard is the closest she's ever come. The only thing keeping it from really being home is the fact that she knows that in theory, some day they'll all be sent back to their own worlds, that every day one of them COULD be even though the fight is not over, and a situation as precarious as that can only afford her so much comfort.]

They... don't always react well to what people say. Most of the time it's okay, but you do still need to be careful if you speak to them. Don't antagonize them, please. If you anger them, they might curse you. [....] Or worse.

[... She should probably mention that one particular incident, she knows, even if it's not exactly the most pleasant topic of conversation.]

A long time ago, around the beginning, people kept asking why they couldn't keep the powers they used to have in their own worlds. Eventually, the gods got so tired of being asked that, they gave them back to a few people. ... All of those people died soon after. Apparently, the powers from our original worlds aren't compatible with the powers we're given here.

I think somebody else mentioned that. [Give him a few moments to ponder as he walks, looking for his staff.] But nobody's told me about the curses. What does that even mean?

It's sort of like-- [-- Wait, the entire concept of a curse, or-- well, she'll find out soon enough.] ... they change something about you for a little while, usually a few days or couple of weeks. At least, that's how it usually works. I've seen people have their age changed, or their personality altered. I'm sure there plenty of other things they can and would do to you if you got on their bad side. It's probably something worth avoiding, if you can manage it.

If it's just temporary though, is it really that bad?

[-- Hm.] I guess that would depend on what kind of curse it was, wouldn't it? And even if the curse doesn't last, the repercussions might. For instance, what if you were cursed to treat all of your friends very badly and said all sorts of things that hurt their feelings? Curses can cause a lot of trouble, if they're the right kind. [Or wrong kind, as the case may be.]

Guess I'll have to find out for myself some day. [Because he's still of the opinion it doesn't sound that bad. However, he suddenly stumbles and lets out a sound of surprise...before dropping to the ground and digging in the snow.] Aha! [Triumph! Joy! The staff is safe!]

[Her,] I guess.... [Is hesitant; she'd rather he didn't have to find out for himself, but some people do have to learn the hard way. She'll just have to hope for his sake that it doesn't turn out badly.]

--! What? [The sound has her automatically worried, eyes searching the screen even though there's nothing on it. Taking a hopeful guess after his exclamation and the sort it seemed to be,] Did you find it--?

[It's covered in snow but he's standing up, dusting off his trusty old staff and holding it proudly.] Got it! [He shoves it into the screen's line of vision to show her.] Definitely not letting this out of my sight again.

[Her smile is small but decidedly sincere.]

That's wonderful...! Congratulations. [-- Hee.] Well, looks like you've learned your lesson. [But she says it jokingly, and so gently at that that it's not even remotely a real criticism. More normally,] Sounds like a good plan.

[He looks really pleased...until something occurs to him.] They...probably took all of the magic from this too, huh?

... Probably, yes. You could give it a try, but... I wouldn't get my hopes up.

[She sounds pretty sympathetic, at least.]

Still, at least you get to keep it with you, right?

[Gotta keep looking on the bright side, and all that.]

It's better than losing it all together, I guess. [Still, he's going to have to get creative and figure out how to make use of what is now essentially a giant stick.] Hey, thanks for all of your help by the way.

[There's still the sentimental value, anyway - or at least so she can assume.]

-- You're welcome. It's no trouble...! If you have anything else you want to ask, you can always talk to me. I'll do my best to help you. [-- Oh. Speaking of which,] I should... probably mention that I work at the hospital, too, so if the sort of help you need is medical and you can't make it that far, I'm your girl. [That is how that expression goes, right?]

Hah. I'll definitely keep that in mind, Namine. [And you can bet he'll keep tabs on her anyway just because she's an interesting sort of girl.]
