[ ohay asgard, ever seen the look of someone who's literally just gotten out of bed and scrambled to check the bracelet? because now you have. and he looks awful. if it was possible to look sleep deprived after what he's sure was the longest night (or maybe even multiple nights) of sleep he's ever had. of course, it wasn't just a normal sleep -- hence the franticness of everything he's doing right now.
it's a bit uncharacteristic, but jackson's had the video feed running for a minute or so as he stares at everything in disbelief. it might be the look of a newcomer if it wasn't for the fact that he's in his room at Thor and he doesn't look surprised at the network itself, but at the fact that it's still here. ]
I don't know if anyone— [ dreamt they were back home? no, no, that wouldn't work. what if no one knows what he's talking about. ]
I need someone — anyone — to tell me what day it is. [ his words are coming out too fast and he takes a deep breath to steady himself. ]
And what's the last thing that you remember happening here? I don't mean like you just waking up and getting food, but something major.
Whatever it was, I need to know now.
[ filtered to scott, stiles, allison, and derek ]
i need to talk to you. right now.

but have a softened expression anyways. even if he looks like hell still. ]
It wasn't turning grey, I can tell you that. [ which would normally leave the other option but, then, there'd be complications with that, wouldn't there? ]
[ video || private ]
Didn't like what you saw? [ bro. she knows how you feel, or she would if she knew how you felt. open up ]
[ video || private ]
I don't even know if what I saw was real.
[ does this count as opening up it's something ]
[ video || private ]
but don't think she doesn't notice the lack of eye-contact because maaaannnnnn, does she ever. ]
Do you want it to be?
[ video || private ]
If I had a choice of everything going wrong or finding out it was all a dream, what do you think?
[ it comes out harsher than he means it, but there's no taking that back now. ]
[ video || private ]
I think it'd depend on what you you considered this place to be.
[ ugh, this whole balance between not talking about feelings and trying to help is really difficult to walk. ]
[ video || private ]
[ at least he didn't really kill people here that is the bright side....... ]
You haven't heard of anyone going home and coming back in a few days, have you?
[ he's doing it!! some form of opening up is happening, k ]
[ video || private ]
[ because that would change how to view it. that would change her answer.
but now we're moving on to different questions and Jo doesn't know if this is better or worse.
she nods. ]
It's happened to a couple of people I know. They'll go to sleep for a few days and their...memories. Will do a kind of update. They'll live days, months, sometimes even years and they'll just be a asleep for a couple of days. And when they wake up- [ she motions around her ] Asgard sweet Asgard.
[ video || private ]
[ he can't imagine how he'd feel if he found out it wasn't. but then — after a moment's thought, he gets it. he realizes what she means, or at least he hopes he does. it all comes down to which he'd rather believe: that he fell asleep here or that he's really been asleep in real life back home.
he was never the reading type, or else he'd recognize the classic dilemma. jackson being jackson stays quiet instead as he thinks about it, mulling it over. the only problem with the latter would be that if asgard was a dream then he'd just fallen asleep in beacon hills for good.
but he can think back to a few days ago in asgard, although it feels like longer, where all he'd wanted was to go home. now, he wasn't sure which reality he'd rather stick with. ]
An update that feels like they're back to living their normal lives? How do they know any of that is real and not just another curse by the gods? [ or the option he doesn't voice: how do they know they're not just back in a dream again when they return to asgard? ]
[ video || private ]
[ and that's exactly what she's saying, Jackson. It's up to you to decide what you want to believe, how you want to take it all. She's come to like the place - gods being dicks or no - because she doesn't have much of a choice. Doesn't really have a home to go back to. ]
I don't really know the details. Hasn't...it can't really happen to me. It might be. But it's happened to enough of them, caught up enough time-lines with people who came from later on, that it makes sense.
[ if this is all a dream, she doesn't want to wake up. ]
[ video || private ]
What do you mean can't really happen to you? [ if it's already happened to multiple people... she's not the only one picking up on things right now. it's the urge to figure things out that's making him unusually keen in this aspect. ]
It can't be possible for everyone to be having the same dream, right?
[ video || private ]
I'm dead. [ a beat, when she figures out he might need an explanation. ] Right before I got here, I was attacked pretty back. Couldn't walk, couldn't really move, this led to that and. Well. There's not much for me to dream about if I'm not around.
[ she tries to seem as impassive as she can about the whole thing, which might be what makes it seem to off. but hey. what are you gonna do? call her out on it?
it's also why she jumps on the possible change of subject. ]
Honestly? I have no idea. This place seems to disprove everything I think is possible or impossible so who knows. Maybe.
[ video || private ] 1/2
but that nonchalance isn't fooling anyone. sure, one can become used to the idea, but jackson's still reeling fresh from his. he can imagine the pain that comes from the knowledge of realizing that this might be it.
and he's wondering if he should tell her about it, after her confession about her own end it seems... appropriate. but jackson's always been stubborn and he wants nothing more than to believe that the dream was wrong. ]
[ video || private ]
[ he's pushed past the stubbornness of telling her, but that language -- subconsciously picked words that hint at the fact that he still wants it to be false -- bleeds through. ]
I wasn't attacked, but the last thing I remember is dying. Not like when it happens in this place either. I knew there was no coming back, but then—
[ he woke up. and the hope that it was all false sprung from the minute he opened his eyes. ]
Maybe you're right. Either way, it all seems impossible.
video || private ]
Part of her wonders if she should just go find him ,like she's done before. Does he want company? Would he just close up because of it?]
That's one hell of a nightmare. [ because if there's one thing Jo knows for certain, it's that she'll save anyone from dying if it means they won't have to go through the same shit she has. Jackson especially. ] Sounds like something the gods would cook up. Try and get a reaction from you. You never can be sure.
[ but then she gives him a small smile, hoping it helps. ] But hey, welcome back either way.
[ video || private ]
ironically, he's a little less convinced that it was a nightmare. ] They've got to be really bored if that's the best they can come up with. Don't they have their own battles to be fighting?
[ there's a twitch of his lips because at least complaining about the gods was still as familiar as ever! ] I don't think I was gone for too long, was I?
[ video || private ]
Well it's either that or throw up obnoxious parties in the snow, so maybe they are really bored. Since they seem to push their battles off on us and all.
[ she shrugs. ] Not that long. But it felt like a long time, right? What, you don't want to be welcomed back? Cause I can retract that statement. [ a smirk ]
[ video || private ]
Well, they've already done both, so who knows what they'll do next? I bet I could come up with a few better ideas than them. [ or at least less traumatic ones!! ]
If I get a welcome back, I want it to be a proper one.
[ because he sure as hell needs something to distract him ]
[ video || private ]
Well the last thing we need is some city-wide curse, so maybe we shouldn't egg 'em on? [ except that's exactly what they'll do and it doesn't even matter.
she laughs at that next bit, though, lifting an eyebrow at the camera. ]
And what is a 'proper' welcome back, exactly?
[ video || private ]
How about a curse that only affects the really stupid people? [ no, he's joking FOR THE MOST PART ]
Well, if someone was going to do it, it'd have to include a case of beer. At least.
[ video || private ]
Who gets to decide who the stupid people are? Because if it's the gods, there goes all of us.
[ no he's not don't lie. ]
A case of beer? Why not just go for the hard stuff, then? Less to carry, faster drunk, etc, etc.
[ video || private ]
Voting system. Or maybe it's just if you're dumb enough to get yourself caught in that curse kind of deal.
[ .... yeah ok he isn't but it wouldnt be a mean curse!! ]
Because I don't want to get smashed right away like it's some lame party.
[ video || private ]
But what if you end up in it? Accidentally, of course.
[ what constitutes as 'mean'? ]
Yeah okay. So do you have a favorite kind?
[ video || private ]
[ life threatening would be pretty mean, so the opposite of that? ]
And I might, if you're offering. And they have it here.
[ video || private ]
[ opposite? cause that's not anywhere near mean. ]
I won't know if you don't tell me so I can look.
