The Magic of Runes
[Video]
[This particular feed looks much more staged than any of her others. A table has been set up, and there's a wooden box sitting conspicuously in the center of it. Hibiki herself stands excitedly a little to the side, making it easy to see the set up.
And in the background, unintentionally, is a sleeping Cyndaquil. Whoops. BUT IMPORTANT THINGS FIRST--]
Thanks to Aladdin-san's hard work, runic magic works in the city now! There were a lot of flashing lights in the sky recently - that means the magic has returned to Asgard.
I'm probably not the most qualified person to talk about it, but... you can use runic magic to do a lot of things the powers from the gods won't. If you learn how to use them right, you can make up your own spells, too!
[She picks up the box, opening it up and showing the bottom to the screen. Inscribed there is a curious circle. In the background, the Cyndaquil gives a yawn.]
This is a spell I made. If you use it, you can conjure melon bread!
[By way of demonstration, she touches her fingers to the circle, causing it to glow a soft green mixed with gold. With a snap, she shuts the box... Only to open it again with a steaming loaf of melon bread inside. She sets the box aside and takes out the bread happily.]
See?
If anybody wants to learn more about runic magic, the magic guild Grimoire's Sigil can help teach you! It takes a little to learn, but... I'm sure everybody can do lots of wonderful things with magic like this!

In what part of the city is this magic guild of yours?
[ video ]
Grimoire's Sigil is in Freyr, right by the theater. You can't miss it!
[ video ]
I might stop by some time just to hear more about this. Everything about magic is new and exciting to me. There is just one thing... melon bread, signorita? Does that spell come in handy often?
[ video ]
[And at the second question, she actually looks a little embarrassed.]
...I'm not sure yet. I just was trying to think of a good spell, and I thought... Being able to easily make a sweet treat for somebody would be nice!
[ video ]
[Leonardo smiles. While it would have seemed strange to him before a magic spell that made anything had become a new fascination for him. Even if it only made melon bread.]
But you still managed to create your own spell. That is remarkable! How did you know it would work, was it observation or trial and error maybe?
It could come in handy if you had unexpected guests. You could whip up a batch of this melon bread of yours to feed them all.
[ video ]
When you create an array of runes, you use words that mean things you want. So, I put together words about melon bread, and it worked! I tested it once before I sent a network post out to everybody, but even the first time, there wasn't any problem. [She's practically glowing with pride at this. Normally, she doesn't have such ease at... doing anything, really.]
-! I suppose I could! And then everybody could have a lot of fun eating it together!
[ video ]
So these are just words that mean what you want to see the magic trick perform? You make it all sound so easy, signorita! I would be surprised if that was all there was to it.
[He has been surprised often in Asgard. ]

[ video ]
Language can be tricky...
[He seemed a but doubtful but suddenly brightened.]
Ah, as long as it is easier to understand than Latin! I would still like to give it a try some time.
[ video ]
I was able to learn it, though. It took a little while, but I'm sure you can learn it too, sir!
[ video ]
[(An unlettered man - meaning he had never received formal training on Latin)
Probably he could learn? No... he's sure he could!]
I should probably try to learn Latin, some day, after these ruins maybe...
[ video ]
[...She doesn't get it, but...]
If you want to learn that language... You could probably find books about it in the library?
[ video ]
Si, another trip to the Library some time might be a good idea.
Grazie, for sending out this message. You have given me a lot to think about.

[ video ]
[One that makes him smile just seeing how happy she is about magic. ]
[ video ]
[ video ]
May I bother you with just one more question?
[Watch out, its always one more question with this one. He is very curious about everything, but right now magic was the most interesting subject of all. ]
How is magic on your world different? Do you still cast spells with incantations?
[ video ]
[ video ]
[Not to him anyway. He shrugs. ]
But I still have a great deal to learn about magic. Grazie again, for taking the time to speak to me about it.
[ video ]
I don't mind! I love magic, so I like to tell others about it, too!
