I did not know this item was that critical to my wellbeing.. [ referring to the bracelet - she'd lost it, but now it's back and she's returned to normal. ]

Hello, citizens. [ and she smiles a bit, head tilting. ] I see that we are quite busy lately.. What sort of event warrants lights and festivities? Is this an event that is exclusive to this city, or do you also celebrate it in your home world?

I believe we are celebrating "Christmas". There are other names for it, but Christmas and Yuletide are among them. The lights are part of a modern tradition, though there are variations of it from where I hail.

I see, thank you. I must ask, what does this "Christmas" entail?

It is a christian holiday to celebrate the birth of Christ. One practice includes gift-giving to the ones you consider dear. In my culture, we usually feasted around this time.

Many stylize him as "our lord and saviour."

[ .. lord and savior? ]

I see. What exactly is his role, if I may ask?

[ Well, she is the most Christian king.... she's just uncomfortable with religious spiel, since he's mostly religiously tolerant, she doesn't want to force anyone into believing Christianity. ]

His role...

Many Christians believe he died for the sins that they embody. The metaphysical God raised him from death, so that at the end of days, he may return to earth to establish the Kingdom of God. The God is different from the gods here at Asgard.

If I may ask, what religion do you celebrate in your homeland?

[ she's more interested in the culture than anything, really. ]

I see... That God is the one true God in your culture, then?

[ and then she pauses briefly, before speaking. ] There are many religions in my homeworld, as many as there are people, I am sure. There is no Christ-like figure, however, but as for a savior, there is the first Magi. [ her tone takes that of one when telling a story; this is something she has heard many times before. ]

Long ago, when there were no nations and people suffered from plagues and natural disasters, a magician appeared. He erased natural disasters, and told the people to work together to prosper. Today, he is revered and prospered by our folk as the Magi.

And is this "Magi" figure still alive?

It's the winter season! Back where I'm from, that means we should be gearing up to celebrate Christmas... but it seems like there are other holidays that are kinda like that in other people's worlds too.

Then, "Christmas" is to celebrate the winter season? [ headtilt.. ] I see. I've never heard of such a tradition..

Yep! And that's not a bad thing—a lot of people don't know about it. It wasn't even really a big holiday where I'm from until kinda recently.

[ nodding ] It seems many people here know about the holiday, but the same can be said for the opposite. However, it seems that it's a rather constant holiday throughout some worlds..

That's one interesting thing about Asgard—you're always surprised about how similar different worlds can be.

And no problem! The most common thing is to exchange gifts with people you know. Just hanging out with your friends is a thing that lots of people do too!

It is certainly a blessing I did not think I'd ever be able to experience, and for that, I am grateful to this place.

[ nods ] I see. . . a time spent with loved ones, then. Christmas certainly sounds like a wonderful holiday.

Ahhh- [Remembering what he was taught in Sunday school!] Christmas is the birthday of the Lord's only son, Jesus! Some celebrate it in different ways, but most people have it on December 25th.

You're supposed to give presents out to people, an' get some in return, an' be full of good cheer an' all that mushy stuff! Most everyone's pretty happy an' givin' an' stuff...

[ nodding in understanding. ] It's a religious event, then..

I see. It sounds like a very happy holiday.

It can be, usually. Especially if you're rich.

I suppose on such a holiday, the rich can be very giving..

What kinda world do you live in, lady?

[ blinking at the question ] I am from the Kou Empire. We do not celebrate Christmas there.

But th' rich are givin' where you're from, right? Sure must be nice.

[ . . . well, to be quite frank. . . ] What is the case in your world, boy?

If you want somethin' bad enough you gotta take it before anyone else can! Sometimes for yourself an' sometimes for other people... I guess.

I knew someone with a name like yours. Kanda Yuu? But it was backwards so instead'a sayin' "Kanda Yuu" it was actually "Yuu Kanda". Is it like that with your name too?

[ well.. she's not used to it, per se, but she's very patient, so. ]

Yes, I believe so. Ren is the name of my father, and Hakuei is the name my parents gave me when I was born. Together, it is said as Ren Hakuei, just as your friend's is said as Yuu Kanda.

Sooo... I can call ya Hakuei, right? [at least call her miss hakuei, christ child.]

[ giggling a bit, now. ] Hakuei is fine, yes. I'd prefer that to Ren, to be quite honest.
