[ It starts with a clumsy jumble of movement, a man -- familiar to some, maybe, though he looks bemused enough to be a newcomer -- brow furrowed, attempting to figure out his bracelet. A little exasperated, certainly intrigued, he is poking at the screen and trying not to wrinkle his new map. ]

--manner of communicator, charmed jewelry is hardly a new concept-- ah.

[ He makes eye contact with the screen, now. If he looks a little completely lost, that's only fair; the man is overwhelmed by computers from the nineties. ] This is-- broadcasting, I believe? I'd hoped to study Norse mythology and deities to a more thorough extent, but this is not precisely what I'd had in mind. All the same, being here is, is... quite something.

Whatever manner of magic is responsible for my... arrival, I seem to to know terribly little about it. That is-- should anyone be able to provide more thorough information than what was given by the- the woman, it would be very much appreciated. I've heard mention of a library?

[ Anyone within the Odin district is free to find him making his way through the streets; he is very curious, somewhat wary, and a little bit lost. ]

[ He makes a brave attempt to type his reply. Really, he does. The response comes slowly, as if there's a technophobic Englishman hunt-and-pecking and swearing at the keyboard on the other end. ]

--pardon, but this seems... a bit faster. Um, what information does the library hold, if it has nothing in the way of this world's history?

Five minutes and I'll be right there, I just have to grab -- a jacket, Giles -- [ He clearly doesn't remember anything but she can't stop the word vomit, because it's been SO LONG since she's seen him... And on top of that, he's also the first person from home at all to be here in a really long time, so she's doubly excited. ] -- You have no idea how much I've missed you, and um -- probably -- a good idea to warn you --

You kinda have a - I guess almost a twin? And it's kinda Uther Pendragon. There are a lot of differences, like -- like no glasses to clean and he doesn't Dear Lord, and he way doesn't get the whole lore and Slayer thing, but -- [ She now disappears off screen and a room can be seen with things, all clearly Buffy-owned, like a nice looking lamp and a random weapon laying on an end table here or there. It's moving pretty quickly, because her bracelet is on her wrist so it's swinging this way and that, covered completely as she slips her jacket on, and there's hair flipping about as she puts it into a ponytail. It's really, really long. Then her face reappears. ] Thought you might like a heads up.

[ The background changes as she starts walking. She's just leaving Thor House, to get out onto the street to go whichever direction is she needs to in order to find him. ] So didja figure out which district yet? I'm betting Odin - again - because of all the books. With the drooling. I can show you around the city, too, but the faster I know where you're at, the faster I can hoof it and get you to the library. If you really wanna do that on your first day. Which is totally fine, because it's where you're in your element, and -- [ She kind of stops, and actually takes a breath, and she smiles. She's feeling a little overwhelmed emotionally, and her eyes are a little misty because of it, but it is a warm, bright smile - one only Buffy can offer. ]

I'm afraid there's not much you can find in the library, there isn't anything you can find about Asgard or their Gods here.

[ What's he supposed to do if the library fails him? This doesn't usually happen. ]

Ah. That is... certainly a shame-- I would have been glad to find any information on the history of this place. Thank you for letting me know, in any case. I take it you've already made the attempt?

[Mordred is aware that Uther is in this city. He has observed with displeasure the man's posts, the man's seeming good health, and took comfort only in the news that in Arthur's time, Uther was now dead. Slain. But he took comfort in this only in his silence and in his secrecy....out of his growing affection for Arthur. However, when he finds himself in a street of Odin's district, confronted by a seemingly lost and bewildered Uther, alone, he almost cannot help himself. Despite all the lessons of his elders and his usual quiet pensive nature, something childish still lingers very much alive in him, and that childish thing hates Uther and hurts at the sight of him for the loss of his father.

And thus he bends down and takes a handful of smallpebbles in his fingers, and in a moment of bravery launches them in the man's direction. Before quickly scurrying behind a barrel.]

[ Giles is wholly oblivious, too engaged in staring at buildings to realize someone's noticed him. He doesn't catch onto Mordred's presence at all -- not until something small and hard bounces off the back of his neck, and his arm and back and shoulder. ]

Ow!

[ He turns sharply, annoyed and bewildered in equal parts. The movement registers out of the corner of his eye, but nothing specific-- the barrels and surrounding area all get the same accusatory look. ]

[Spencer watches the feed transmission as he always does. He's hungry for any type of information he can get about this place to store in the back of his brain. It's as good as saving it to any computer because he can recall information in mere seconds. Eidetic memories are useful.

He finds the man from the feed about 10 minutes later wandering the district and looking lost. Spencer had known by his words and his seeking of a library that he was most likely a member of Odin. Thus, he's not really surprised. Intellect has a knack for recognizing itself in others.]

[ He looks up, surprised to be addressed in person. He really oughtn't be; he is wandering like someone clearly lost, and is fairly aware of it. Still, he really can't help the staring -- he's read enough about Asgard to be wholly fascinated by all of this. It's only a shame he has no journal or notebook in which to take notes.

So he gives a slight smile of greeting, polite, a little wry. ]

If there is anything you would consider the basics, I would very much like to hear those. Um-- particularly concerning the beings who run this city, and this matter of... new powers, the magic I've apparently been given. [ He's interested by the idea, but still too cautious to try it out, so far. ]

[ It takes him a second or two, but he figures out how to work the link -- and, luckily, Conan has sent this to someone who doesn't at all mind the tl;dr. Giles' reply comes a few minutes later, through the audio option, because he's already discovered that he hates texting with a passion. ]

This is a lovely compilation of-- of resources and information, thank you. It seems that there's a great deal I ought to read up on. [ He still has several entries to go read, and, quite possibly, a position or two to look into. ]

Oddly enough, he had almost forgotten that Buffy had insisted he was someone else. Or, well, it had slipped somewhere to the back of his mind, but here it is again. And what was the name again... ]

Giles, I presume?

[ God, the man really does look like him, it's absurd. ]

Buffy warned him about this. Briefly, not very coherently, but even so-- he has heard 'twin' and 'Uther Pendragon', and that's enough to hazard a guess as to who this is. Even had he not been warned, this shouldn't be enough to shake him; he's seen two Xanders stand side by side, and met Willow's evil twin, the one with no heartbeat and too much leather.

Perhaps Giles is meant to be the troublesome one in too much leather -- they've taken him twenty years too late for that, of course. He is a rather underwhelming doppelganger for a king to have. But they don't seem to be any manner of twins at all; if it were a matter of alternate universes, why wouldn't they share the same name? Why Uther Pendragon?

That's the bit that has him thrown. Give the history geek a moment, Uther. ]

I... yes. Rupert Giles. And you would be-- the king of Camelot? [ He feels ridiculous saying it, but, well. ]

It's any regular time travel. And space travel. Ooor universe travel. Either or, pick whichever you like. Actually, universe travel is more accurate, because we're definitely from different universes. So they've figured out a way to link those, or find a link between those, and pull us here. Not entirely impossible - well, obviously - and not that far a throw from alternative universe jumps. Just on a bigger scale.

Don't know exactly how they did it yet, though, sadly.

[ Giles is... clearly a little bemused by the stare. He doesn't know what, precisely, was confusing about his broadcast. Nor does he have the faintest idea who this is; there's no recognition here whatsoever. ]

[ The question leaves him cautious, automatically. Giles has more experience with magic than he cares to admit; all manner of bad experiences, ill-fated irresponsible experiences, and by now he's wary of its use in anything but the most dire of emergencies. ]

A great deal, yes. But I'm no manner of sorcerer -- I prefer to study it.

( VOICE ) and then i realised charles and giles would be awesome.

I've a great deal of experience with magic, I'm afraid. But not normally on... quite this scale.
