Somebody give me cat advice. I have no idea what the hell I'm doing with this guy. Popular toys, popular foods, I'll take whatever you can offer.

... Also how to make him not climb on everything ever, me included, would be the ideal advice.

I was thinking more like a climbing tree that could be placed inside. Just a series of staggered wooden shelves with carpet should help. Although I have seen cats take to roofs as well, if the situation becomes desperate perhaps that could be your backup plan.
