[It's relatively early when Tommy appears on the network--no, scratch that. It is not even a humanly hour when Tommy appears on the network. His room is dark, but the sky is red with the first hints of dawn outside his window. And, yes, he is wide awake, and very thoughtful.]

I think I celebrated Christmas when I was a boy. [He pauses thoughtfully, head turning to gaze out the window. The only Christmases he recalls took place before the incident that left him almost catatonic. He was too young then to understand any of it, and after that, nothing could be explained to him. After a moment, he turns back to the camera, eyebrows furrowed.]

I've heard others talking about it, and I see by the calendar that it's today. What is it about, then? Christmas, I mean? Why is it celebrated by so many and how?

Why, it's a holiday for families, a time to gather together around the burning stake, or the gallows tree, and really reflect on how precious our time on this earth is. [thoughtfully]

I'm afraid I haven't got a family any longer, or a burning stake. Haven't got a gallows tree either, come to think of it.

{OOC| WAIT NO WAIT. WE HAVE A GOMEZ? Omg. You can have the opportunity to squeal madly if you give me the opportunity to do the same.}

I see. Died and left you all alone, have they? If my mother-in-law were here, she might be able to help you, or perhaps my wife could. [thoughtfully, because while death is a marvelous thing, being without one's family is terrible indeed]

They didn't mean to. How did you know? [You know, since it's clearly not obvious.]

[Tommy will probably find out, after any amount of time, that Gomez tends to assume death is involved with just about everything.]

Ah, so you weren't so awful a child as to drive them to suicide. [consideringly - he doesn't seem to be joking, but he also doesn't seem to think it would be a bad thing if Tommy was that awful. He might have been, after all, look at those bizarrely golden curls and innocent face! So unfortunate, poor man.]

And I'm afraid it was a lucky guess. [smiling again] Though you do have a certain aura of tragedy about you. [approvingly]

Ya think ya did? What, you got amnesia or somethin'? Or did Christmas suck so hard that you repressed it?

It's a religious thing. Kinda. Mostly it's about gifts.

No, of course not. [His eyes are wide and serious, as if it should be the most obvious thing int he world.] But I could hear or speak or see for most of my childhood. If it was celebrated in my home, I couldn't possibly remember.

Religious how?

Oh. No wonder ya don't know then. It's a Christian thing. Birth of Jesus 'n' all that. But most people kinda skip that part and stick to going into shopping frenzies, and decorating their houses with so many lights, ya can see 'em from space.

[ While she does answer at this untimely hour, her hair is disheveled and her clothing flattened on one side. ]

Christmas..? [ 'Already?' She wants to tack onto that, but it seems improper to do so. ] It's a real special holiday for families and friends. I don't want to repeat what others have told you--[ Yukiko, do you really think anyone is awake at this time of day? ]--so if you've already been told, could you tell me?

It's an important celebration of Jesus' birth. [There's a tone in his voice that suggests Tommy should know that already.] If your family celebrates it, I'm sure you've realized that much.
