I. Accidental Video; Action

[Spencer doesn't realize that he's accidentally hit the button on his bracelet as he is browsing the shelves in Odin's library. Because of this, the feed is rocky and shows a number of books, titles blurring as his hand moves across the shelves. Finally it stops, because Spencer has found the section that he's looking for. The titles show that he's in the medical section, looking at books on pathology and diagnosis. After choosing a few, the bracelet view turns to his feet and the marble floor as he walks across it to find an open table. Before he sits, he accidentally bumps his hand against one of the larger books and the feed cuts off.]

Action;

[Ever since the outbreak, Spencer's mind has been on that disease and how it had thrown everyone off. They had learned just enough to create a vaccine, but not enough to satisfy Spencer's curiosity. He needs to know more, in the hopes that they might be able to prevent this kind of biological warfare in the future. Though a genius, Spencer is not a medical doctor. Thus he needs to do research, which is something that he greatly enjoys. He opens up the larger book on pathology and starts to comb it for key phrases - anything that might have to do with the strange microorganisms that he saw under the microscope at Yakuzen.]

[Since her arrival in Asgard, the library has been Alexis's main hangout place. And today, she's there putting back some books that she'd been reading. She has quite a sizable stack to put back, and with all of them piled in front of her, she can't really see where she's going.

Which of course means a collision is quite likely to occur as she passes through the medical section.]

[Spencer was too busy checking out the book on the top of his pile to notice the redheaded girl coming towards him. One moment he was reading and the next he was slamming into something, sending books flying across the floor. He stumbled back with a gasp, his eyes wide.]

I-I'm so sorry...

[Alexis's expression is one of shock and embarrassment.]

No, I'm sorry, I just walked right into you! [Talk about one way of greeting a person... by walking into them.]

[He knelt down to start making stacks of both his and her books.]

I-I shouldn't have been concentrating so hard on the book cover.

[She gets down too to help out.] It must have been a really interesting one if you were concentrating on it. What was it, anyway?

[Spencer lifted the book for her to see: Robbins & Cotran Pathologic Basis of Disease.]

I'm ah.. doing some research on the epidemic we experienced several weeks ago.

Oh. [She pauses to inspect the cover a bit closer.] Are you a doctor? [Then she looks at him curiously.] Have you found anything out about the epidemic?

[ so. much. books. robb's always been more brawn then brain, preferred steal over pages. but this much knowledge he has to ask. ]

Are you a Maester, ser?

( VIDEO )

[The video catches him by surprise as he's been reading intensely. He jumps, then examines the man on the screen.]

I-I'm sorry, what?

[robb]

A Maester.

[ In Westeros a Maester is many things, a Doctor, a teacher, someone versed in maigc - its all a bit of a mishmash. Sorry Reid. ]

You read a lot of books.

[A quick assessment of Robb tells Spencer that he's not from the same time that he is and could possibly even be from an alternate universe, this being Asgard and all.]

I do read quite a lot. Nearly 275 books in an average year, though some are re-reads.

[It helps when you can read 10,000 words per minute.]

You find time to invest yourself into all these tomes?

I um.. I read at a fast rate...

[Again, understatement. Spencer's ever the humble genius.]

You have such talents yet you do not don the collar?

[ one day robb will adjust to speaking like a modern day non-westeros person. today is not that day. ]

[Inara hasn't been able to resist the appeal of the library, nor the opportunity to actually be able to read books that were long since forgotten where she came from. For those reasons, she's slowly wandering through the different aisles, her gaze scanning he different titles.

She steps out of one of the aisles and sees a man sitting by himself pouring over a rather thick book and curious, she ventures closer and stops once she can see what he's reading over.

Her eyebrows raise up and a curious smile begins to form.]

Certainly not light reading material.

[Spencer jumps slightly at the voice, having not expected to hear anyone during his concentration on the medical text. He glances up at the woman, who is clearly very conventionally attractive. Her face has an excellent symmetry, which is what usually makes one find another to be attractive. His cheeks redden a bit.]

No, um.. disease pathology.

[companioning]

Oh. [She takes another couple of steps until she's right at the table and sets the books she had picked out down on it. She does notice the flush of his cheeks, but she's entirely too polite to point it out or even laugh about it. In fact, she finds it a tad adorable.]

In the city of the Gods where there are books from all sorts of different worlds, you're choosing to read about diseases? Very interesting.

[He nods and looks shyly back down at the book.]

I'm trying to see if I can learn more about the disease that swept through the village last week. I had never seen anything like that before.. at least not where I come from.

[companioning]

Well then. Have you learned anything of interest? [She pulls a chair out without asking and takes a seat beside him. Normally she wouldn't be so rude, but she's truly interested in what he's learned.] Thankfully I wasn't here when the illness swept through, but I heard about it.

[He doesn't mind, though pretty women make him nervous. As long as he keeps this academic, he should be ok.]

Had you not yet arrived in Asgard or were you in Utgard?

[companioning]

I was in Utgard gathering supplies and shopping for clothing for a young friend of mine.

[She studies him for a moment before speaking again.]

I presume that you were here in the city?

Find anything interesting?

[He was used to the bracelet by now, so he wasn't as startled this time.]

Ah.. not much yet. So far none of the diseases match the pathology of what had afflicted the city a few weeks ago.

Really? So you're looking up what that might have been?

[He becomes a little more somber. So much destruction...]

I worked on the vaccine, but I had never seen a disease like that before. It's similar to ones in the world where I come from, but fundamental parts are different.
