[Daphne is normally smiling and optimistic, but when her video feed turns on, she seems somewhat weary -- maybe even a little depressed. Still, she makes an effort, even if she looks slightly nervous.]

I would like to speak to the gods -- whichever one isn't busy, but I'd like to speak to whoever is in charge, if I could, please.

[It's... uncertain, as she is not very well practiced in these things. But she feels that's a pretty good place to start. It's not like she was disrespectful or anything. And once that is said and done, she tries for a smile.]

And -- and anyone can answer this, but a god could too, I guess -- is there anyone who knows whether or not there's a place of worship here? It doesn't matter what faith, I just... I've needed one lately and I don't know the first place to look. And if anyone would like to come with me, I'd -- well, I'd appreciate it.

[She pauses, uncertain, before offering another quick smile.]

Thank you.

[And she cuts the feed.]

[This only sounds moderately ridiculous.]

[ Thor hiccups, taps on his chest, and burps softly once. ]

Why exactly are we fighting it?

[With the tiniest frown.]

[ He's looking past the bracelet, though, watching something behind it. ]

I was under the impression that everything would rot and fall apart if we didn't come here to stay for a period of time, not if we chose not to fight a war.

[She crosses her arms slightly, still frowning.]

Why are we being attacked by the other cities? What's their opinion on us being here? Are they attacking us because they want the end of everything or because they were told we were a threat by another party?

[ Thor listens to about half of it, before his eyes sort of glaze over. He sips from a comically large tankard, one hand held up dismissively. ]

Someone's full of questions. A moment. I believe Loki said-- oh, right. Here you go.

[ And he pushes her a link to this. ]

I've seen it.

[As soon as she opens it, though she doesn't look very entertained.]

And while it's very informative and colorful, it doesn't answer my questions.

The giants hate us. They want us dead. They want you dead. They want everything here dead. If that's not enough of a reason to fight, I don't know what is.

And things would rot and fall apart if you lot weren't here, too. It is possible that we've brought you here for more than just one reason, you know.

I've gathered that they hate you, but I still want to know why. Hatred isn't born out of nothing. What started the conflict in the first place and why are we being dragged in to be the final resort?

[She pauses.]

-- I'm not trying to be argumentative. I just want to understand what you're having people sign up for, because whenever I ask people what the giants feel about any of this, no one has any answers except 'we need to prepare ourselves'.

[ And she's just met with a long, long pull from his tankard of whatever, before he drops it down to his desk and drags his fingers through his hair with a wide and certainly doofy smile. ]

Can't tell you. Would love to. But trust me when I say that all you need to know is that you either fight or everything dies.

How are we supposed to trust someone who won't even tell us why we're fighting in the first place?

[It's said calmly and passively, but there is the tiniest hint of frustration in her tone, if you're listening carefully.]

You aren't headlining a great and noble cause, you're feeding fear to a group of people who've been ripped away from their homes. If you want people to cooperate, you're going to have to be a lot more honest than telling people we need to find the proverbial weapons of mass destruction.

And maybe, when I say we can't tell you, you could do your best to take a hint and figure out that I'm not fooling around. We make life here for you visitors as easy as we can, but please trust me when I say that if we didn't need you here - for your sakes' and ours - that you wouldn't be.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. [ Still slurring a little; he's more than the tiniest bit drunk right now. ] Really, truly, we all are. But there's nothing that can be done. If you want to go home, then fight. Help us help you.

[She listens for a long moment, quiet even longer, to digest that. She's not an argumentative person and she's even less interested in debating with someone who has their ideas set in stone. So Daphne focuses on something she can argue about, which -- ]

You may be able to help us a little more with less alcohol intake.

[ -- is a very good point, she thinks.]

If the alters provided at each House are not suited to the prayer you wish to do, there is a chapel in Hel. However, it is not attended to often.

I never lived in the houses, so I didn't... know.

[It's said a little sheepishly.]

There are altars of worship for each God. Probably not the religion you're looking for, but ‒ you say it isn't important...

Maybe I should rephrase - I'd rather not pay homage to the gods that have trapped us here.

I thought as much, but ‒ well ‒ I'm not sure what religion you follow, so it could not hurt to offer.

If there is no proper church, you can always find a quiet space away from people.

Home ‒ if we were far away, we would often share prayers by water or fire, or even with a clump of dirt or grass in hand in desperate times. [He looks to the feed, uncertain if any of this sounds remotely appealing. It makes perfect sense to him, but he knows he's, you know, weird.]

I'm a Christian -- but how would you share your prayers with water or fire?

[It isn't how she prays... at all, but Daphne is open-minded and curious.]

Christian... that male god split into a trinity? [He has the right idea. E+ for effort.]

Oh, they are part of the four elements that all life shares. Every creature has a basis in water, so being near water or even having water is like praying for life or prosperity if you will it.

And sending something into a fire is returning it to Earth ― to ash ― by burning it. Praying on a fire can mean you wish to burn to be born anew. Or... it's just the end of things.

It depends on what your wishes―[Wishes and prayers are similar to him...]― burn for, but something is always available.

That's a branch of Christianity, but you're very close.

[Daphne falls quiet, though, to listen -- and she smiles a little, crossing her arms.]

Some parts are very similar to my religion, though we don't believe in the strength of elements. There is a peace, though, in returning to the earth... I'd be willing to try it.

[ He's quiet a moment, taking in her countenance before responding. ]

[Arthur is immediately rewarded with a kind smile.]

I...actually don't know, miss! That is a very good question. But then again, it's not like you need a place to worship. Even wandering souls who don't have a church to their name can still show their love for Him just as well as those in church.

But if you're asking about a place of worship for the gods here, then...I don't really know. Hmm.

A place of worship is something like a security blanket, I think. And I mean the Christian God, not these ones.

[With a tiny smile -- but Daphne is curious.]

Ah, well, that is understandable! And it is so very good to meet a true follower here...

[And he nods and warmly smiles.] Yes, of course. He created me, after all.

[It's said with a tiny frown, as she watches Cheriour curiously. And, because she is so very human, her next question is pretty expected.]

What is He like?

Really? Huh, how odd! I thought for sure he would've...

[And a wide happy smile at that second question.]

Oh, he's...he's simply the most beautiful and wisest. Nothing escapes His gaze, and the way He creates things- I always marvel at them! I love Him more than anything in the entire world, and I know that He always looks out for me in whatever I do. He will never abandon you, and He will guide you through the worst times if you are in need of help.

He's simply...Him. He's just indescribable, really, in His magnificence.
