( seven: video. )

So the elves of Álfheim have proclaimed their allegiance to the gods of Asgard. [ a deliberate pause; he doubts the same thought (doubt) has occurred to many, but if there's a chance that he can help plant it—. ] I admit, that leaves me wondering as to the allegiances of the other realms; this world is far more than Asgard and Utgard and Thrymheim. [ a touch of wry amusement. he pauses, gaze flickering downwards momentarily — one might assume it's out of thought, but he knows what he wants to say and how, and as such, the pause, the appearance is exactly that: for appearances. ] Svartálfheim, Vanaheim, Nidavellir, Muspelheim—. [ a beat and a shrug. ] If the gods of Asgard are so truly bent on circumventing this war, in defeating the giants before they've a chance to be defeated themselves, I suspect we'll find that they'll be scrambling about between themselves in search of trust and allies. We've already been told that the horrors recently visited upon the city were part of an attack. If emotions are the foundation of Asgard, where we will be placed when the gods seek to right perceived wrongs? When defence and prevention becomes not the preserve of Asgard alone, and offence is considered the only answer left.

[ despite his words, loki looks relatively unconcerned, and it's a prelude to his next point: ]

Aladdin's recent announcement as to the discovery of our ability to use the innate power of Asgard, of Yggdrasil has given me thought, along with [ a slight twitch of his lips. ] the Doctor's query as to how one might travel between the realms and universes. Whilst Odin [ a touch of bitterness ] might seek to portray otherwise, the Æsir aren't the only beings with the power to travel between the two. The magic of Svartálfheim, the access to the doorway between realms may be beyond our reach, but if rune magic is not—. [ a smile and an audible exhale (satisfied). ]

It's perhaps for the best that the Norn are without alliances. Should we not too take inspiration from independence?

[ loki moves as if to end the feed but stops suddenly, a look of thought briefly passing across his features. ] —Arya, Caterina, the Pevensie siblings: I intend on travelling as soon as circumstances allow. If you wish to be kept abreast, do let me know.

( ooc: anyone else wanting to get involved with loki's schemes (one + two) can ofc still do so! it's never too late x( )

And... if... someone opposes you? Not just here but— The giants? We have no idea what they know or - even what they're trying to really do. People trying to get in the way here would be bad enough without that.

Nobody allows anything to rule them. [ sounds right...

but - ]
No. I don't. I didn't ask because I'm afraid, though.

Just curiosity. I want to know how said repercussions and reactions would be dealt with if... there were any. [ And.... delivered too nicely to be anything an implication - which is implication enough of all the scruples she doesn't have...

The subtlety ends there when she adds ]
Getting what you want is basically faster going when no one's trying to stop you, right? The best way of ensuring that is by making it clear who's going to lose if they try.

[ beat ]

Because "people will allow what suits them." I still don't like "allow" for it for it, though. If those people know it's in their best interests to just... do what you tell them, it's better for everyone.

[ That is... not what she was expecting from someone called "Loki" - first, second, or otherwise; almost immediately she feels sorry for her doubt. ]

It was good of you to answer what you could. Not everyone has the patience to do so and— Thank you.

...Even if you really shouldn't say "you'd be surprised" or "more than you imagine" so often. They're very easy phrases to pick up. Someone might use one later at a really critical point as an ironic echo and you'd lose track of everything.

Even if I were, though. ...I'm not exactly in a position to be concerned for you without being insulting at the same time. But just so you know? I'd take the advice. You're not— [ ...beat one, beat two.

Right. Pause for consideration. Which way of saying this isn't callous? ]

...Hm. You're not strong like the Double Ps. Sorry, um - Pevensie and Pendragon. Peter and Arthur? Like the other king-types. They're vibrant and aggressive and smart - and they'd know how to fight a war even if they were only determined to do it.

But you're different. You're not as loud or - blond. [ very important distinction, that ] But there's... a reason it's taken us this long to wonder about something you understood from the start. Not to mention how to do it. I feel like you'd be just as good on the front lines as they are. You can't exactly fake tactical genius. I mean, it's not lesser. It's just - a different kind of genius from what I think most people associate with kings.

Sooo... being concerned as anything but a citizen would be rude. It would also be dangerous and I try not to be either. [ SURE MIGHT AS WELL END WITH A LIE. She started with one. ]

[ ...he really is Loki. He really is oh gosh. In attitude hardly. Ideology: not a chance. General nature of existence in Asgard: duh, nothing alike. Less gab than glib, certainly (Loki the First has yet to call her "girl" and doesn't seem to limit eloquence to special occasions...), but— Yeah, same weird sense of being completely outranked, completely amazed, and utterly unintimidated at the same time. Granted those are her feelings towards a good handful of things...

She stares as long as it's polite to let that sink in. ]

It's not a concern and it's not a compliment. I don't give compliments. [ As close to unmoved as she can get her voice here, though, the neutral expression falls apart quickly and undiplomatically with a sigh. ]

Anyway, all of that— It's... exactly what I was trying to say. If I'd meant it as - as consolation, I wouldn't have said it at all. I don't know you, sir, but I wouldn't pity you.

So if you won't take it well, I'll... just - [ in one breath ] accept that rebuttal as your agreement also and take it well for you.

Doesn't everyone?

[ And decidedly less deputy chief: ] I don't know. How do you usually answer that question when people ask? I... do lots of things. Painting, manufacturing, training, reading, exploring. Normal things here.
