So the elves of Álfheim have proclaimed their allegiance to the gods of Asgard. If emotions are the foundation of Asgard, where we will be placed when the gods seek to right perceived wrongs? When defence and prevention becomes not the preserve of Asgard alone, and offence is considered the only answer left.

No; with that in mind, the decision looks sensible. Cowardly indeed but sensible. More much than expecting children to fight this war as they do.

Age matters little to gods, and children tend not to have the trappings of morality and conscience that their elders try so valiantly to believe in. [ a pause and a loose shrug. ] Cowardice and ease.

And this Rune magic - can it be used against our...gracious hosts?

Is that how you'd use it?

Of course. That is why power is learned, after all. To make use against an enemy. And while those who attack us are certainly enemies, I shall name the gods my enemies as well. If there is such power here, it is a chance to do something we were not able to up until now.

Those who attack us here do so because we are in the city of their enemy. If we were elsewhere, if we had formed our own settlement or city, would they have done so, do you think? [ it's not entirely a question, more a means of — obliquely, perhaps — admitting that he considers the gods his enemy more than the giants, or any else that the gods have named the enemy of asgard. ]

It's refreshing to see such a lack of sentimentality towards those who keep us as their puppets. The gods deserve nothing of our mercy, if events swing that way.

It is beyond me why they hold the favor of some of the Travelers. It is blind faith in those who proved to be nothing but fickle. If they had treated the Giants in the same manner, I am not surprised that they made enemies of them. I hold no sentiment towards the Gods but resentment. They have took away my powers and they have been playing me as a game piece from the moment I arrived.
