So the elves of Álfheim have proclaimed their allegiance to the gods of Asgard. When defence and prevention becomes not the preserve of Asgard alone, and offence is considered the only answer left.

It's perhaps for the best that the Norn are without alliances. Should we not too take inspiration from independence?

I said: that depends on what move Asgard makes. The Æsir. I suspect that regardless of how keen they may or may not be, if Asgard forces their hand, then they will move. If we wish to avoid that, then we need to provide a more appealing scenario.

[ he regards the doctor for a moment, expression and tone equally level. ] I'm not going to make promises or create expectations where they may be none. We know nothing of the Frost Giants. If they're not keen on war, it begs the question of what are they keen on? There's far more than just war and peace. [ It's not a very clear answer, honestly, and this is Loki and this doesn't quite measure up with everything else he's said. But the Doctor doesn't yet mention that, and just goes along with it. One should always be wary of words. ]

Of course. I do wonder what it could be if not war, though; this land is half-dead. Can't really have to do with that.

Loki wants to go home. Understandable, of course, but with the way he's spoken of things, the Doctor doesn't quite expect him to do so quietly. And whatever the case, the Doctor does intend to stay.

Would be nice if he could have his TARDIS, but that's another matter. An important matter, but another all the same.

The value in victory is only equal to that of the defeat. Asgard seems far more desperate than both Utgard and Thrymheim. [ the opposite to his own experiences back on asgard (a reversal—.)
