[Nine days. It's been nine days since he arrived, and that much time that he's avoided introducing himself over the networks, collecting information all the while. But it wasn't something he could avoid forever, given what they were brought here to do. At the very least he has a topic on mind that could help in this.]

We were brought here to return... "colour" and "life." While we've not been given information further than that in regards to this grey realm...

How many have achieved "colour" thus far? Not the temporary bursts that occur when we speak with one another. Rather, colour that endures for a significant amount of time.

[Though then again, it had been only nine days. Perhaps it was too soon.]

[Humming, he taps his chin with a finger.] A few people have been able t' with these skills or something they've been gettin'! At least from what I've seen around on this bracelet thing.

But I'm not sure if they've been stickin' around for significant time.

It does seem as though there are a number of those that have tested their abilities, haven't they? But they've yet to explain how it ties in with our being here necessarily.

M' only guess can be that each little power that yah have somehow brings color t' the world in a way that's more--I don't know, representative?

But I'm also talkin' from what I've seen. People bein' about to make flowers open up an' all that stuff.

Though one should wonder why we've been limited only to a single power, rather than the ones some of us may have already had. Are the ones we were granted so important that they had to strip us of everything else?

Maybe because it forces us t' work together an' all that? I'm not sure--but there's always some secret in a story like this.

Obviously – for all intents and purposes, we are no closer to finding any other answers lest we abide by their laws and whims.

How unfortunate! But I suppose things run smoother if we do so, even if it's hard t' care much for gods that were never your own.

Never your own, hm? [Though nor were they Eyes' gods, nowhere near close to becoming so.]

he supposes he should be glad. but after all that's been said and done, he's a little disappointed that all he feels is wariness. wariness with a seed of hope tucked inside, maybe. he finds it a little ironic that even the afterlife is so untrustworthy.

on the other hand, if Eyes really is here, then that would certainly change quite a few things, wouldn't it?

Not that I know of. [ a pause. casually, ] It's a bit concerning, isn't it? Really, I'm not sure if I want to go on for the rest of my life being labeled as 'colourless'.

[It has only been several days for him, back in his world. He has been lacking food and rest not because he couldn't provide that for himself but because the grief, while he tried to bury it within himself, was still strong. This man was his brother, after all.

Though he accepts little Narumi's logic, having to face Kanone's death despite it all was disheartening. And knowing he would have to continue to hold on to hope in the same manner as he had always done...]

Perhaps you aren't putting in enough effort to rid of that label? Though I must admit any efforts I've done have provided little result.

[ in a way, this conversation is almost surreal. the last thing he had expected of the afterlife, if he had expected anything at all, was to hold a conversation with Eyes Rutherford on the subject of effort. but then again, he's always been very good with adjusting to new and unfamiliar situations.

he does the verbal equivalent of a shrug. ]

Little to nothing. I'm afraid that there hasn't been very much opportunity to actually interact with others who were brought here, much less any warranted reason to try.

[ concentrating on the situation at hand, he infers that Eyes has probably been as cautious as he's been. it's a lesson they both know well- stick only to what's known, keep yourself grounded as you seek out new information; no risks.

Then, you can hardly blame the lack of result. For what it's worth, I've heard that laughing helps.

... Laughing, hm? [How utterly ironic, even more so as an amused smile makes it way to his face. The last time he had smiled... when had it been even? Probably not since the last time he spoke to this man in person, a time before he would have to kneel by his cold, lifeless body.

It felt so strange.] Laughter is an action that is sometimes not so easily achieved.

[ he could feel the smile, as strange as it sounds. it comes from years of growing up with the other boy-- knowing when he smiles, what he smiles at, the timing of his words that accompany it.

some things never change. he smiles a little himself, despite it all. ]

Good thing, too, for it'd be cheapened otherwise. The challenge might be to look for things to laugh about. Like a funny joke, or a witty comment.

Or perhaps the words you just spoke aloud. [While his own imply that he's looking down on the other, Kanone of all people should know that this is gentle teasing, in as much as Eyes as capable of. A side of himself that only the other Blade Child has ever managed to draw out on his own.]

[ the teasing almost catches him off-guard. whatever he was expecting in reply, it wasn't this. the familiarity of it tugs at him, and he has to pause before he can reply again, schooling his voice carefully. ]

And here I was, offering honest advice. [ hesitates again, this time for a different reason. however... perhaps he should allow himself this. ] But you've always been the one to do things your own way.

[ from anyone else, it might sound as though he is berating the other. however, for the other boy across the screen, there is fondness, there. ]

[He can hear that fondness loud and clear, and if he were honest with himself he would admit to longing for those seemingly simpler days, when they fought side by side against those determined to put an end to their lives, even for those meetings they had after he had been discharged from the hospital. But he would never admit to it.]

I appreciate your advice regardless. Is there anything else you would like to offer?

I haven't been able to get color to come, either. At least, not that I can tell...

What are the gifts bestowed upon her people, then?

I was told we can heal and make plants grow. But I haven't used my power yet...

The maid told me that mine is healing.

Therefore there is no need to use it, given how most of the people seemingly mind their own business.
