008; [video/action] Day 140
[video]
[It starts very abruptly with a wham, and at a crazy flurry of movement that might cause some viewers to get motion sickness if they're sensitive to it. Obviously the person on the other end of the feed doesn't care, or more accurately doesn't even know they're recording. The shape flashing across the scene almost looks like a windowsill, and for a few seconds the bracelet's camera catches what looks like a very, very dead, squished spider.
There's forced breathing, like someone's doing it through clenched teeth, before the video statics and cuts completely.
...Only for a second video to pop up, about five minutes later. This time it's an equally confusing and unstable view of someone yanking a drawer of a dresser open, and pulling out everything inside. This one is shorter, before it ends abruptly again.]
[action]
[Roughly fifteen minutes later, there is a bonfire burning on the grounds next to Hel House. Vanitas has piled everything he's come to possess in Asgard--clothing, a weapon or two, a pouch full of runes, the charm Euri gave him... even his bedsheets--over a few dry sticks and grass that he was able to collect in a frenzy, and has lit the whole thing up with a book of matches he confiscated from the kitchen.
The only thing he hasn't added to the pile are the clothes on his back and his helmet, which he's actually put over his head, and is clutched between his hands. He's sitting cross-legged in front of the product of his seemingly unhinged actions, firelight glinting off the black visor.]
[ooc: Posting this before I run off to work; I'll tag back asap!]

Seeing the squished spider is more than enough to startle him though and he jumps when the wham happens in the video. After that he's got the trained reaction of anger--of course it'd be some fucking ignorant human, scared of spiders who couldn't be bothered to just move it outside...and seriously, who the fuck keeps rustling around down there??
Kaz makes the trip, but not in time to catch Vanitas. He only sees the remnants of his tantrum. He ventures in a little, looking around with a lifted brow...and spies movement outside. So he hurries over to the window and looks out just in time to see that little fire of his start.
What the fuck is he....?
A glance down and he sees the remains of the spider. His eyes narrow and his lips form a thin line...but from what he can tell, it doesn't seem to be Qhhth'ssqhk? Hard to tell since it's been squished though.
This means that the video was Vanitas'...so for whatever reason, he's gone and freaked out.
Kaz intends to find out why. ]

Immediately, he swings an arm out towards him with a balled fist, sweeping it towards his hip, hard.]
Don't. Touch me.

[He only pauses through tearing through his room long enough to shout that into his bracelet. Obviously, someone's having a really bad day, and it's barely even begun.]
audio
Have you ever considered anger management? Tch... [she knows something is wrong, and she knows she shouldn't have said that, but she did anyways it seems.]

As she arrives at the house she raises an eyebrow at the sight of the bonfire. Nakama's thing isn't today, right...? She can't actually remember though, and she's about to turn around and leave when she catches sight of a very very familiar helmet.
Vanitas...?
Euri stops, staring for a few second in confusion, before she walks over. It is Vanitas, and what on earth is he doing...? She's watching him, still very confused, as she comes to a stop a few feet away.]
Hey....

[He's stupid enough to approach, after the fire is lit and Vanitas has no further actions to push his emotions into.]
Not the smartest move ever, you know that?
[A pause. He feels more awkward than ever, hunching his shoulders and ducking his head to hide the bottom half of his face in his collar, but his eyes remain on the-- despondent?-- person in front of him.]
[The last time he saw someone like this, Rhyme was Erased. It's not a pleasant image to recall.]
...Lose something?
no subject
Ohi, your design looks awfully familiar.Actually, Vanitas doesn't even bother to look up at Neku. His body language is totally closed off, defensive, not to mention volatile, so yeah he's taking a chance by approaching him.
The first question gets no response. It's like a kid who thinks that by just ignoring the other person, they'll eventually go away. Which is sort of what he's doing...
But that second question finally gets a retort, that's practically spit out even though he still hasn't moved his position.]
What d'you care? It's none of your business.
no subject
orly I never would have guessed][Yeesh. Neku ends up fiddling with a piece of hair, just an instinctive thing to do when he's thinking over something seriously. Just-- what happened? Did his whole family die, or what?]
You're right, I don't care.
[Annnd taking a bigger chance by crouching down on the other side of that fire; at least that way if Vanitas decides to lunge for him, he'll have to go through the flames first.]
But whatever it was, it must've been pretty important.
[It's not really about giving a shit. More... understanding, to some extent.]
no subject
But it had significance to him--a lot more than he realized, until it was gone.]
A... pet. [He doesn't want to say what kind to a stranger, because the chance of getting laughed at is over nine-hundred percent. So he just keeps his head down, and his body bowed even when he hears the other take a seat across from him.]

He knows you not at all nor what is going on here, but—]
Are you alright?
audio
[alkdfj sorry, someone's in a really bad mood.]
video
Debaaaaaating for a second if he should continue in video
(he did select video, right? people seemed to do that a lot, right? this device and its etiquette isn't... really... what he's used to...)since the other is using it more like a telephone, but he figures it'd be stranger to cut it off now.]Aaa... sorry. [Sincere, but:]
Of course it matters. Why wouldn't it?
audio
[There's also the sound of drawers being opened in the background, here. And stuff being torn through.]
It's gone, it's over with. So shut up.

[Action]
[And is that smoke over there?]
[Stopping short, she raises her eyes to the sky, squinting at what she first recognized and now confirms to be smoke. Is there a fire somewhere? Instantly concerned and already compelled by her self-imposed responsibilities as a healer, she glances around to check for any other plumes of smoke. Finding none, she chooses to head toward the one she can see at a run, frown firmly set in place.]
[What she finds when she gets there, however, is not at all what she expected. She'd half imagined the beginnings of some new attack, but as she slows to a shocked halt, all she sees is a pile of things being burned and what seems to be a very distraught Vanitas.]
--....
[She lingers where she is, hesitating.]

[Ironic, maybe, how bad she feels - or not!feels, anyway - for him, even if she doesn't know the cause of this... (her eyes dart between the fire and him) ... outburst. At least, it seems purposeful
and in a way very much like him, distressing though the thought may be.][She could leave him to it. Perhaps that would be best for both of him. Maybe he needs some space, and maybe she'd only make it worse. But....]
[But it seems wrong to leave him like this. Uncertain and ginger, acting as if he's some skittish animal despite his failure to noticably acknowledge her presence, she steps just a little closer. Not close enough for him to lash out, should he choose to do that, but close enough to say,]
Vanitas?
no subject
Her utterance of his name doesn't get her much of a response, other than a slight straightening of his back. Whether or not he recognizes her voice is anyone's guess.]
