001 愛 Video

[The feed starts, and it's apparent that the woman who is wearing the bracelet has no idea that it's turned on. It's caught her in the middle of a string of mandarin - and her tone would very much make it seem as though she is less than happy and not really believing anything the letter had said.

Her gaze is flittering around, and she's muttering loud enough for others to hear over the device on her wrist.]

Tāmāde hùndàn! Malcolm Reynolds, I'm going to show you uncivilized if I find out you had anything to do with me being here.

[She glances down at the object around her wrist, and her eyebrows draw together. Though once she realizes that it might perhaps be broadcasting, she lifts it up so she's seen clearly - and in that few seconds of time, she's regained her composure and looks completely tranquil and at ease. Years of training were not going to go to waste, not even in this place.]

Bàoqiàn, I apologize, I didn't realize I'd managed to turn this on. I'm assuming it's a communication device? [She manages an easy and even charming smile.] Perhaps someone would be kind enough to tell me which planet I'm on and point me to the nearest city so I can contact my Guild, I would be most appreciative.

Place's called Asgard. Not sure about planets. The local line's that this place is the very fabric of multiple universes and our individual worlds are like leaves on the great tree of Yggdrasil or some crap [Tone of Voice: Does not believe 'that crap.'] You're inside the nearest city. The next largest town's Utgard, but I don't know how much luck you'll have getting a line out there.

No clue on your guild. I'm betting they aren't here.

Oh, and whoever Malcolm is, unless he's a cute, snippish little jackass of a blonde kid who usually calls himself Baldr, he probably didn't have anything to do with this situation you find yourself in.

Ok, space-faring. Column C. Let's see if I can remember one of Vigil's lectures on this crap.

You're not in your world, and there's no spaceships here anymore. You've been abducted across the boundaries of time and space to a different version of reality by nine creatures that call themselves Asgardians or some similar crap. Their names are the names of the houses that we get shoved in to start. They kidnapped us to fight their personal war, which they claim is the final war of all versions of reality.

Feel free to believe it or not, here's a couple quick tips:
One - Don't lose the bracelet. Those faceless, gray people? You'll end up looking like them in about a day and you won't remember who you are or why you should care until some guard brings you your wristband back. It's a really creepy experience. I don't suggest it.
Two - They want you to interact with the people here, other prisoners or the locals. Have emotions, train and prepare for battle, and they're happy. Smile or scream, it's all the same.
Three - Get ready to see a lot of weird shit. Weirder than me.

It's good to see you, too.

[ He's smiling back because he's just so glad that someone he knows is here. And now comes the explaining bit. ]

Inara, you're-- you're in a place called Asgard. And, as I understand it, it's a, um, a different world. Of sorts. Run by Gods.

Inara!

[She immediately regrets uttering that single word, because it's clear as day that she doesn't remember having been here, and this is just going to make their reunion cripplingly awkward.]

I mean... um...

[Nope. No recovery. Not even an attempt.]

We're shut off from communicating from our worlds.
takes_careofher: (omg i so do not know you right now)

That's... what I'm led to believe, yes. [ A beat. ] Honestly, I've only recently arrived, myself.

I-- I know this can all seem a bit overwhelming [ Honestly, he's still very overwhelmed by the whole thing. ] but - from what I've heard - everything in the letter is true. Gifts and-- Gifts and all.

[ A pause because - oh boy - this is the hard bit. ]

No. As-- As far as I can tell, you and I are the only ones from our world here.
