[hello asgard! again!

this feed appears to be from the hospital -- soon after all that nastiness with the darkness. it's that same weird mute boy who shows up from time to time, and he looks pretty rough; there's bandages over plenty of him, including his head, and the bracelet's on an arm that appears to be in a cast.

his typing is a little slow - pardon him.]

what do you do when your best isn't enough?

[he doesn't seem upset, even with the question he's asking, though. determined more than anything else. also, pardon his lack of shift; it's hard to do one-handed.]

[ Trying not to look like she feels any emotion from seeing Rion bandaged up here. ]

When, um, are visiting hours? And what's your room number? ... Rion.

room 203. i don't know i'll ask the nurses.

[you better feel emotion, yozora! LOOK WHOSE FAULT THIS IS...]

Find an alternative method.

[ NOPE NOPE TOO LATE, she's going there right now. Ten minutes later, a nurse will be knocking on his door and letting Yozora in. She shyly enters with her hands behind her back. Can't sit next to him - she doesn't want to be too comfortable. ]

Um, I brought you a cake. [ awkwardly leaves it on the table nearest her ]

How, how are you feeling?

[yozora pls don't be so awkward; he's really happy to see her. he hadn't been expecting the cake; when he sees it, a smile crosses his face.

he's still a little slow to type but is able to respond well enough.]

it still hurts some. but i'm fine. [it hurts more than he's letting on, but he can bear it - even with the pain he doesn't seem like he's upset. not like the sort of crying or getting angry that might be expected.]

you don't have to stand so far away. [he adds, after a moment.]

what if there isn't another way?

[ She'll take one big step forward. Just one. After standing there for a moment in silence, she speaks. ]

You really didn't have to push yourself that day, you know.

[ Why would he do that for someone he didn't even consider his friend? ]

yes i did. i won't let any of my friends get hurt if i can help it.

[it's hard to explain -- yozora frustrates him. sometimes (frequently) he wants to hit her; he has, at least once, with the minako thing. but she's genuinely trying. and there's a nice girl somewhere there, and he empathizes a lot with her. after all, there's a reason he's in the neighbors' club, right?

rion smiles at her gently. winces a little bit, but smiles still.]

Friend-!?

[ She fidgets and starts playing with her fringe. She and Rion were friends? When did they agree on this? Why was she not informed? Anyway, she feels as if she isn't worthy of this kind of treatment from him. It's almost surreal. ]

I don't want us to be friends if it means you have to get hurt. But...

no buts.

[rion will use that pause to send something. no, he needs to be able to interject here, and he's looking at her sternly (though still with a little bit of a smile) as he types; he's not looking at what he's typing at all.]

we're friends. i'm happier here in the hospital knowing you're fine than if nothing had happened to me and you'd gotten hurt or killed.

i know how to fight. you don't. what kind of friend would i be if i left you to yourself like that?

The worst kind of friend. If I were you and I left you, I would never forgive myself.

[ Wait, did she just admit to something there? Too late to take it back now. ]

Just so you know, though, it pains me just as much seeing you like that. How long will it even take for that arm to heal? Think about that before you do something reckless.

[too late! it's official. of course now that they're friends they have to be expelled from the neighbors club because they're filthy Normals--

wait, no. nevermind.]

they don't know. healing stuff isn't working well on it, but i don't care. i'd rather have both my arms and both my legs broken then let anything happen to my friends.

[and he seems like he really means it; it shouldn't be too surprising. yozora saw him fight, saw the blow snap his arm, and saw him process it, then continue to fight. at no point did his arm breaking make him even begin to reconsider saving yozora.]

I'd call you an idiot, but I would do the same.

[ She sighs. There's just no winning here. ]

A-anyway. [ drops her hands to the side and bites her lip. this might be the second time anyone's ever saved her from mortal danger. ] What I really came here for was to... to say th-thank you. I don't know how I would have gotten out of there alive alone.

But that's why I want to learn. How to fight, I mean. I've never had to deal with anything like those things before, but I want to be able to protect my friends, too.

It's clearly not your best if it isn't enough.

[ -- oh. That actually... strikes something of a chord within her. So much so that she actually responds in text, something that she rarely does, because she doesn't want to let this person see her somewhat sad.]

I wrote a song about that feeling once.

you should. and i'm really happy to hear you're doing that.

[rion smiles at her. it's... it's weird to hear her say that, considering how self-centered she seems sometimes? but he understands. and he's happy for it, because he wants his friends to be safe too.

rion motions her a little closer, too. come. see him. he's even going to hold out a hand... well, okay, the one hand that's not all "on an arm that is broken".]

That has absolutely nothing to do with the fact. I still stand by that if you fail, it clearly wasn't the best you could give.

[Chie doesn't even bother to answer on the network; she just shows up at the hospital without any prior acknowledgment. she hasn't really been out much since the darkness event, but... hey. she'll make the effort for a friend, especially one as good as Rion.

she doesn't knock or anything; she just steps into the room with a friendly wave. she already has the bracelet interface open, and after she does that, she sends him a message.]

[she doesn't really have on the smile that the message implies, though.]

But if it truly is your best, what else is there to try?

Get better, I guess. Was it the Taken thing?

Keep trying. [ Though if he ended up in the hospital (she assumes that's what prompted this) maybe that's not the best advice to give, even if it's true for Allison. ] Or find another way to do whatever it was I was trying to do.
