Good day, Asgard. It's me...Jasmine...again. Um, well...

[ She straightens up and looks directly into the camera. This has been getting easier recently. ]

I have two questions to ask. One is more serious than the other. So I'd like to do that first...

One. The curses affecting the city: does anyone remember them all? And if so, what order they were in, and how long they lasted? Also, some of them were definitely more wide-ranging, so we'd have to chart the severity...oh, I ask because mapping out all of the city-wide curses might help us predict when the next one occurs. It's just a thought.

[ She seems lost in thought for a moment, before almost shaking herself out of it and taking on a more cheerful tone. ]

And two...would anyone be interested in dinner or lunch? As a group, my treat. But, ah, not dozens and dozens of people! A reasonable size. I think we need it after these recent curses and body-switches. If you're interested, please let me know. Okay then...thank you.

Oh! I know Reshiram. And the other, black Reshiram I've seen from a distance. And there's a guy with a big orange dog that's striped like a tiger. What's a Steelix like?

Me three. My friend Satellizer and I had a burger stand. It was a lot of work!

The black one is Zekrom. I don't know much about it and Reshiram, since they're legendaries. The orange one...Arcanine? Hm...a Steelix is huge, and made of metal, but still slippery...you know? It's tough and strong and really reliable!

But you didn't doze off or anything...

No, it's a Steel-type. Some of them look like robots or machines, but they're living beings.

Metal as a part of a living being... incredible! Tell me, is it like a shell, then? Something they produce for protection, maybe, in the same way shellfish produce calcium or insects produce chiton? I suppose, if they ate a diet very high in base metals they could do something like that...

In a sense, yes. Depending on the Pokémon, they use the metal as scales, or armour, but some look faux-mechanical...like gears or magnets. They evolved to suit their surroundings, I suppose. [ However, Jasmine's definition of evolution is kind of...unscientific. ]

....that sounds so... alien, to me. The idea that a creature can evolve to encompass metal and even LOOK mechanical. That's just amazing. I think I'm going to have to read up on that in the Library - do you have any books you would recommend about it?

Ah, there are books on Pokémon in the library, aren't there...in that case, you should look up the works of Pokémon Professors. Professor Rowan of Sinnoh studies their evolution - maybe that might be helpful to you...?

I definitely suggest you spend some time in the Library then - If I didn't have to work and eat, chances are high that's where I'd spend every minute of the day I wasn't sleeping. It's got more books from more planets and different versions of Earth than I'd ever have imagined existed at all, let alone in one place.

Yes, every single subject I could imagine...and more. It's useful when I don't understand something somebody says and need to look it up...uh...but there's an absence of information on this city.

There is. The Gods said that information was a resource they would share only when they saw fit. I asked about it directly.

As did I. It was like they were unable to understand its importance to us. It's strange...and worrying...

Nakama and I discussed that too and pretty much decided their frame of reference is lacking. They've never been in a position like ours so, no, they can't quite understand what it is to be worried and unsure the same way we can.

You're probably right...but it seems pointless. If we knew more about where we are and what we're fighting for, I think some of us would be more likely to listen...

I agree completely. Unfortunately, the Gods don't see it that way and won't be argued wihth. So, all we can do is find out whatever we're able to and work from there, you know?

[ A resigned sigh. ] That's the plan. If they're that set on working against their own interests, we'll have to pick up the pieces...

I think with enough of us onboard, we're up to the majority of the task at least.

That's right. Even just by looking at the guides people have written, I'm sure we can do this.

Sam and Conan have put together some fantastic ones.

True, true...I've read them myself. When I was new, Sam's guide was invaluable to me in explaining some of the details of this place.

Conan's was the first I read - I only found Sam's recently but it's also very good. It would be great if we had some kind of a printing press to reproduce them physically for people. I know we all have access to bracelets all the time, pretty much, but I find I take something more seriously if it's on paper in front of me.

One day, I was thinking of opening a help center for newcomers to the city. It would have printed versions of the guides, with permission, of course...but this was only theoretical. I don't think we have the resources to print so many. I've postponed that plan for now.

I know technology is a little weird here, so, it might be harder to locate a printing press setup but it's still something to think about. I think that would be really useful, actually.
