003 - Audio

[Samantha opted, when setting up the feed, to go with voice only. She still looked like hell, and she didn't need anyone seeing or asking stupid questions. It wasn't their business. But, after speaking to Conan, she'd resolved that it was time to stop trying to hide from this place any further. When she spoke, her voice had a tired quality to it, but was still strong.]

So, Asgard.

I wanted to discuss something with those of you who will still speak with me right now. These powers that we have. Most of the people I see seem to think of them as a good thing, a blessing of sorts, or at least they partially make up for the tricks you had in your homeworlds. Right.

Here's the thing I wanted to talk about. Most I've spoken to seem to think of these powers as something that's being used to help other people around here, or to protect people that can't protect themselves. How do you people handle the fact that any of them can be abused, misused or mishandled? What do people around here do to prepare themselves to be protected if those powers get used for the wrong reasons? I've been thinking a lot lately about how people could protect themselves from some of these powers, and it worries me.

Not all of us are nice people, you know.

You're right. Look, I don't like talking about it, ok? It's not like it's pleasant to talk about the psycho in the back of your head.

I'm probably tougher than most humans, but not necessarily a lot. I'm definitely a little faster than some, but it's still mostly human. Just, I'd say think of me as better than average, but with claws and a tail.

All right. That's good to know... Would you like to say the change is more about one's person than any attributes? Because if your physical stats are the same when you turn, I think we can try some drills and work something out. [ TAILS AND CLAWS ARE NOTHING, unless this tail is like a huge crocodile tail. Basically like wrestling with a lion. ]

It's personality. I don't go she-hulk on the world when I change, so there's not a huge difference from me right now. It's mostly in how I'll react and what I'll use or do in the middle of things.

[Heh, you'd be surprised. That tail's caught people off guard before.]

All right... That isn't too bad, then. I can keep you in check until we find something suitable, if you don't mind, obviously.

What's your name anyway? I'm Yifei "Argenta" Zheng and we're basically in the same house--kind of unfortunate you have to be in the house filled with weirdos. [ Though she won't add that Samantha kind of... fits in. ]

Let's skip the whole watching over my shoulder like a hawk thing. I'm self-conscious enough about this whole thing. But yeah, a little checking in's ok maybe. It's Samantha Grey, and I'm moving out of the psycho house of horrors as soon as I get enough saved up.

Just because I am one of the weirdos doesn't mean I need to stay with them. That'll just end badly in the long run.

... Even I don't really have enough energy for that! [ But she seems to get into a lot of things anyway. ] It's not like I'm going to be your guardian or anything. I'll just swoop by and make sure you're doing all right once in a while! A deity's watchful eye is better than nothing, right? Oh yeah, don't use Asgard's as a standard.

Heeeey, I don't think we're that bad! Sure some of them are creeps, but you can easily kick them to the curb when they get gross. [ Laughing a bit. It's because she bullies everyone, but no one needs to know that. ]

Which district you're planning to run off to?

Deity? Nevermind. I shouldn't be surprised by people saying things like that anymore. And, really? You must not've met Kaz, I take it? Little creeper.

Loki. The apartments are apparently cheaper over there, cheap enough I could probably net one where I can live alone. Keeps the trouble less if I have a short episode. Nobody has to worry about living with me.

Yeah. I was a deity back home, but you know I'm just downgraded here. Not really a big deal or anything. Oh... [ Actually. ] Kaz is scared of me.

The place of tricksters, huh? They're pretty weird themselves... [ If not even worse bullies. ] But that's reasonable with your predicament.

Well, the district's not the same as the house. I'm just looking for an apartment I can put triple locks on the doors in. And you scared that little pissant, did you? Good on you. Little dick needs a lesson in manners, but I'd rather not go near him.

That's true, I guess. Both inside and out? [ She laughs a bit. She hasn't thought too much about a lock in centuries. ] I wish you luck though! There are plenty of jobs out there with good pay--and that's better than most of Hel who like to laze around with free lodging.

Yeaaah. Though it wasn't on purpose! He tried to bite me so I bit him back and he just suddenly became all sheepish and meek. [ Pfft. ] Don't let him get to you though, he's generally on a leash.

Though I would say you're missing out, it's fun to tease him once in awhile.

Oh, I'm already working at Doctor Watson's clinic. I'm just saving up before I go to a new place. Seems like a good idea to not just jump out without a couple weeks savings at least. Pay's pretty good, and it's giving me an idea or two.

I'll remember that about biting him, but honestly he's not really leashed around me, and the last time I went nuts I kind of... Well, let's just say flirting with him while singing the "Itsy Bitsy Spider" isn't a good way to make him nice.

Still a good start! Really better than nothing--pretty sure you'll move out pretty soon, too, especially if it's in a clinic rather than picking up tips. Reminds me I should probably make an ad for housemates.

[ Wait... Was she hearing this right? ]

[ Aaaand she just ends up laughing really hard. That is hilariou in her opinion.

[Samantha didn't think it was hilarious at all, but she was more than a little too hung up about the seriousness of her 'condition' at times to find that her half-naked, flirting with Kaz about threatening to drawn him in a waterspout was probably one of the only really funny moments of that night.

It was even better because it drove the boy completely nuts.]

Oi. Stop laughing, please. It wasn't that funny. Yeah, he and I don't get on well at all.

[That was going to make the day after tomorrow even funnier, and she had no idea.]

You're right...! You're right! It isn't funny since you could have killed him! [ But she's still snickering to herself. ]

Man, why didn't I think of that?! Then again it has been a while since I've heard that nursery rhyme. I should definitely try it one day just to spite him, it'll be great. Maybe I should go watch his reaction now, I didn't exactly follow the post for too long. Bet he was on the verge of crying inside, but tried to act tough. [ Basically Vitrolic Not Best Buds whether Kaz likes it or not. ] Wait, wait, no...

Yeah... It.. It isn't funny. [ Sneers. IT IS FUNNY. ]

[She sighed and allowed herself a single, bitter laugh.]

Trust me. the look on his face, if you do that, will be priceless. I think he might be convinced there's a conspiracy, that or he'll just blame me. Not sure which. Doesn't really matter, does it?

I'll be sure that you're the first one to hear about it when I unleash this terror on him, all right?! But, hmmm, I wouldn't want him to blame you though. Maybe I should just whisper a documentary of spider cannibalism into his ear. [ That sounds good, but it's obvious that she's joking. ]

So you think you're going to be all right?

I'm always ok. Another thing people don't really believe, but this isn't exactly my first rodeo. I just can't do what I usually do, so I'm coping. I'll figure something out. I've always done so before.

There's nothing wrong about checking. Some people are just total wrecks no matter how many times. [ She has seen a lot of it. ]

And since I get to check on you once in a while, I should be able to ask whenever I want!! Even if the answer is the same!

Fair enough. Be prepared for the same answer, though you'll probably get a bit more details in the future. It's not like I plan to let this destroy me. It hasn't yet.

Body Control. A filthy power, honestly, and I'd rather not have it, but it is what they put in my hands. If I can use it to help others defend themselves, so be it. That will have to be penance.

Aaah, body control isn't too bad, but it can be pretty convenient in making an escape at least. [ She scratches her cheek. All the other uses are deadly. ]

I have shadow control! And it's actually pretty fun.

I've got ethical problems with turning a person into a living puppet, personally, so no I don't really like it. I'm only willing to do this because it could help others resist. The idea that my other half would use it willy nilly disgusts me.

Don't worry, anyone would think it's a little creepy if they delve into it a bit more. [ Like Pokemon entries in the Pokedex! ]

I'm just sayin' it'll be useful in the future, but that's pretty convenient for me!
