asgardeventide | ✿ Chapter 009. [Video/Audio/Action from the Library] (Day 115)

[ Lookie Asgard, a new feed clicks on your network. What appears on your screens will be the fixed image of a pair of hands joined together and placed on a desk, a notebook between them plus a pen, books all scattered around with a specific cover visible among them. Maybe some of you can figure out that it's being recorded from the Great Library in Odin.

One of the hands, the right one, has the sleeve pulled down to hide most of it, though a bit of darker skin can be spotted. Geez girl, show your face already...! From the way her hands are rubbing together, it's clear she's ever so nervous about using the video feature. Isn't this an improvement, though?

... Actually, Hanako thought it would have looked more professional this way. ]

Good afternoon...

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for participating to our Arbor Day. I never imagined that we could have this much presence throughout the holiday. It was all hard work well served; the city looks even better than before, and some color has been restored as consequence. [ Despite the nervousness, her tone sounds a little... chipper than before. It wasn't only for the event, factors like Lilly's arrival and the determination to make the next project work has boosted her morale quite a bit. ] It has served its purpose, it was successful, and I'm very glad for this fact.

However... [ And now she turns a little dim. ] This is not enough. In order to prove a point towards these gods that have no hint of respect for our free will and how much we have done for them, we need to do more. [ She emphasizes the word a little aggressively. It is totally on purpose.

...

Screw this. By the time she resumes her speech, Hanako has tilted the camera up to show her face, a clear frowny expression on- with the characteristic peek-a-boo bangs that seem to perfectly hide her right side. ]

I would like to direct you all to Conan-kun's last post, which illustrates the next project we're going to set. This time, we want something even bigger than Arbor Day. We want you all to get involved and help out, by either taking part in the festival or aiding us through your abilities. So if you can cook, sing, play instruments, design decorations or organize shows of your own- please contact us.

[ Back to video. Now she's trying to relax her expression, though it's a hard task. ]

That being said, I've been given the charge of organizing the food stalls for the festival. I'm looking for professionals in the area of cooking, but also people who have experience and are confident in their skills are very welcome. I'm also looking for particular ingredients, so if those of you owning a restaurant or a cafeteria are willing to help me gather them, I would be plenty grateful.

Any and every kind of support is important to us. We can do even better than Arbor Day, if we unite and work hard together. This is our chance. If we don't change our situation in here, nobody will.

[ Hanako gives the camera a bow, before she reaches out and- instead of cutting the feed off, it switches to audio. There is something more she needs to say, but this time to a stricter range of people. ]

Now, I would like to address all the people who have read and enjoyed the series of books I had recommended a while ago. By which, I mean Nightlight... [ Hanako's tone turns relaxed, with all that important stuff out of the way. ] I was thinking that we could gather in one place and discuss the story and characters. If there is a decent amount of us, we could even form a club entirely dedicated to it.

[ A pause. ] ... Let's say it might be founded if at least five people other than me are willing to join. Would you be up with the idea? I know some of you showed interest in the books, so I wondered if something like this is doable. In case of agreement, we can choose a place to organize our club activities... I thought of the library, but you can suggest somewhere else. I am up for any ideas. Also, I will decide on the date later and contact your inboxes accordingly.

Are you both willing to help me with the festival? I... also think we should do something together. Just the three of us.

Ah, well, yes, you're right in that fact. Letting anyone control us by any means is no good.

H-hey, Hanako? What do you think... of this place? If we were tricked into doing all of this but in the end... we were stuck here indefinitely?

Indeed, it's never good. It will lead to serious consequences.

[ ... Hard question. Hanako frowns deeper. ] I don't know what our future holds in here, and if the war will affect us that much- but I think what matters mostly now is to force the gods to realize that their plans are going to fail if they keep doing us harm.

[Satellizer nodded and frowned.]

Well, that's a goal that all of us should follow for sure. I... I appreciate your input Hanako.

... You're welcome. [ Scoffing at the bracelet. ] I just can't stand their antics anymore.

Usually those in power regrettably act as such... They seem to have an urge to belittle those they consider below them.

That's because they need confirmation that they're the stronger ones. They're insecure... but it's a human trait, and the gods surely aren't human.

Maybe they're more human than they'd like to admit... maybe that's why they act as such? They show more and more sentiment and human traits, they just hold immense power as well...

It's... odd.

They sure created this world, and are not much different than us other than the fact they can do basically everything. [ A little frown. ] Now if only we can point out their weaknesses...

Usually people that powerful have an immense weakness. It always comes with that sort of boon... Not sure if anyone would be willing to find out however.

Maybe this is why they don't want us to know about Asgard's history...

Quite possibly. And I'm not just talking about the fact that there will always be someone stronger out there. But there has to be something they are hiding.

... There must be a reason why they're at war. There's... the Ice Queen and the Fire King, according to what I've heard on the network...

Yeah... I just have this nagging feeling that there's more, much more that they don't want found out.

Uh... are they afraid that we'll side with the enemy?

I don't think so, not necessarily. But when someone who's really powerful gets hurt, like with this whole ordeal, they go to great lengths to not let their weaknesses show, even if they have to push on those they believe to be weaker in a show of strength.

They could be that insecure, huh... you must know plenty about power and how it influences people.

I.... well, I felt... something similar when I first arrived here. Losing the powers I worked so hard to attain in my world left me feeling incredibly weak and vulnerable, even with the new ones I gained in their stead...

It's fine... Hisao helped me get over the initial shock. I still... It's still hard but I've been dealing with it the best I can.

Hisao did? I'm glad... he's very good with people. Are you feeling better then?

He is... And I am, a little. I've learned to deal with it better even if I still feel vulnerable.

That's good to hear... you have changed for the better. Asgard does this, in a way...

I want to believe that something good will come out of all this... At least, well... I've met good people.

Something good will definitely come out of this. I'm... sure of that.
