[The feed is at first filled with static and the sounds of the device being knocked around. But eventually, words start to filter through.]

[And the person seems to figure it out, so the deep, resonant voice laughs jovially]

Aha, here we go! What an odd little thing indeed... I admit, it's taken me almost a full day to figure out this little bracelet. It seems better for a lady than myself, I have to say.

[He laughs again. Cheerful guy, for just getting dumped somewhere strange.] Well! It seems a new day has risen for us, and it still remains. I suppose that crosses out the possibility of it being a strange dream, eh? So hello, those of you that may hear me! I confess that I do not know to whom I speak, but I suppose it matters little! I am Alexander III of Macedon, though I would prefer to be called Rider for now. I am in the house of Thor and from what I understand, is quite fitting for me!

Ah, but that said, I am curious and pose a question to all of you--I have seen quite a few strange ones wandering around, so what sorts of places do you all hail from? From the looks of you, it seems like quite the variety!

Of course! I never understood kings who do not stand at least at equal with the soldiers who have brought them their riches. All men in my army are my equals, so it is only fair that I should truly lead them in battle.

Of course, besides that, it's quite fun to be at the head of a battle rather than watching it. Nothing beats that excitement!

But this sounds like a good arrangement. Ha, but I have missed getting your name! If I happen to come upon another, I'll have to know who to direct it to.

Where I come from, our "kings" usually just sit around making phone calls and issuing orders. Things have changed a lot since your day it seems. [ sigh. ] Maybe if they actually saw what it was like on the front lines, they'd be a little more hesitant to start conflicts over a centimeter here or there on a map.

[ he just shrugs a bit at that next bit. ] There's a certain rush you get, I'll agree... but if I could find a way to get that without having to risk my life, I wouldn't mind that either.

It's likely, though even in my time, my style of rule was uncommon. I would think that my father started it, but who knows?

Just Rider is fine, but I thank you for the courtesy! Unfortunately I would imagine my title as king means little, especially when my country is no more. It is an honor to meet you, Juuza. Am I saying that right?

I doubted it at first, but you're really the genuine thing, aren't ya? Alexander the Great. Kinda wish I'd paid more attention in history class now.

That sounds about right. But hey, whether your country is gone or not, there aren't many people that can say they used to be a king.

I am indeed! Though I can understand your doubts. Ha, I cannot say that I would believe someone if they were to introduce themselves as, say, Achilles!

Perhaps! But I do not worry too much about it, for I'm taking my second chance at life to conquer the world again. After all, it's much bigger than I imagined! It will take me quite a bit longer than just Persia!

The rate things are going, I wouldn't be too surprised to see someone like that pop up too. We're already stuck in Norse myths, why not just throw in everything else people can think of?

If Achilles himself were to show up here, I may be a bit starstruck by the notion. Every Greek and Macedonian alike aspires to be as great of a hero as he, so it would be an honor.

It is something of my plan! I wait to see how this world will shape itself more, since it would be foolish to charge headfirst into a conquest this early, but... We will see, won't we? Ha, in any case, these "Norse" myths that you speak of—What is that, exactly?

He's the guy with the bad heel, yeah? It's kind of sad, but I think he's more famous for his weakness than anything else now. Not a good thing to be remembered for if you ask me.

Not at all! He was the greatest hero of the Greeks... But there's something beautiful in the poetry of his weakness being his humanity, I've always thought. But that's why Homer is a brilliant man!

I have not! I have passing with some other pantheons, but of course the only one I know anything significant about is of the gods that reside on Olympus.

Homer... That's the guy who wrote the Odyssey, right? I guess any good hero needs some sort of weakness, but getting shot in the back of the heel seems kind of lame. Usually you'd get a much grander, more heroic death than that.

Hm... So you like the Greeks better. Yea, I guess they are more popular. Maybe that's why these guys are in such trouble!

Haa, I like the Greeks better because they are the gods that I knew as a boy! The idea of anything else... Well, it still seems a bit strange, though I've grown wise enough to be accepting that other such beliefs exist.

Back where I grew up... or maybe I should say when... no one takes that stuff very seriously anymore. I guess my country has its own gods too, but no one really thinks there are a bunch of all powerful figures sitting somewhere watching over us. [ pause. ] But it looks like we were wrong, hyahahaha!

Of course. Well, it is hard to say what it would be now, but in my mortal life, it was that I was mortal! I conquered lands farther than any man had imagined, yet my death came from fever. It is almost as tragic as Achilles, I have thought.

It's interesting, though, all these gods! I would like to meet all of them, honestly! Ahh, but I suppose I'll settle for these "Norse" deities for now.

Fever... everyone gets sick sometimes. Heh, these days a fever probably won't kill you though, medicine's come a long way. But now the diseases are getting scarier too... they've got all sorts of more formidable sicknesses. You better be careful! Doubt you've gotten all the necessary immunizations or whatever while you've been... dead, I guess.

You gotta start somewhere. Didn't ya see one hanging out around your house? I guess that's the guy you answer to.

So I've heard! And it's quite a lucky thing for mankind, though I would be hard pressed to be struck by a fever now. Well, so I would assume. I've never heard of spirits becoming ill.

I did indeed! We only had a brief conversation, but he's an interesting fellow. Certainly not someone that I mind being allied with. That's why I'm curious to see the others. If they are all as amiable, this place is far from bad!

Spirits? Oh, so you mean you're like a ghost? Yeah, I've never heard of ghosts getting sick. Then again, I've never met a ghost before either.

"Allies"... heh, that's an interesting way of looking at it. I guess we're working at the same goal though, so it's appropriate. More like we're working for their goal, but same difference!

Something like it. It is easiest to think of what I am as close to a ghost. It's quite complicated!

Exactly! That's why I don't mind this situation. At least, not terribly. There are certainly some inconveniences and annoyances, but... I cannot blame them for seeking help with this situation. It's rather trivial at first glance, but I imagine it is one that affects the people here greatly.

Ha, that would be a waste of time! I'm back on Earth to try and earn back my life! Scaring people wouldn't be worth the effort. Ahh, and it's not really in my nature besides.

I did too! But it turns out that it's actually quite a bit more complicated than that. But my second life will not be won without a fight. It's just a wish, but it's a wish that I am pursuing with all of what I am.

I can't really think of any better wish for a dead person. If I were in your shoes, I'd want the same thing.

Ah, there are "better" ones, actually! I am the only one in this fight who wishes for another life. The others that I know of their wishes, they don't care at all to live another life. Strange, that! I could not fathom passing up such a chance!

I guess that means... they were satisfied with the chance they got, eh?

For the most part. I believe that they both hold regrets, but they have other wishes that they would have granted before another life.
