Childish but effective. A thorough display of power.
I'd be grateful if everything (affected and not) could tell me what they ate and drank over the course of the last week. Any unusual fume inhalation, too.

[He is still a sceptic. Supernatural? No. Chemical? Yes.

This is nothing but another Baskerville.

He sends a second message a few minutes later:]

Wasp.
Bank, tonight, 23:30.

[Time to play a little game, experiment with this potential source. He has to be sure about her.]

[ something about this seems... familiar. it's anonymous, and yet this is the time for new arrivals. it very well could be who he hopes it is, but there's no need to take a chance. for all he knows, it could be the Moriarty of his 19th century counterpart, or the male (or female) Sebastian Morans. or it could just be someone completely different -- the possibilities are endless.

so a simple, non-anonymous, inquiring message should be enough to test the waters, right? ]

Another murder?

[ yeah yeah, sure thing. ]

Yeah. But that's standard for a city, right? There's always going to be a criminal somewhere.

The victims are usually the faceless residents - natives.

A handful. Not sure how many exactly -- worked on several with some colleagues, though.

[ he may or may not be trying to bait a little. he's curious not only as to if this is who he hopes, but to who it is in general. ]

We've been here for months. None of us have gotten sick with anything that didn't have an obvious source or wasn't something normal like a cold.

The scientific approach. I approve.

This may not be the most accurate of lists, but as far as memory goes, this is all I have consumed over the last week.

[The list is crisp, methodical, accurate and detailed -- despite Watson's claim to the contrary, association with London's only consulting detective tends to improve one's memory. Breakfast is usually eggs and a kipper with toast or muffins and lots of tea, lunch a hurried meal eaten in the restaurants in Heimdall or a simple sandwich, while dinner is usually consumed in a cosy pub or elegant restaurant.]

No fume inhalation that I know of, but I am a frequent tobacco user and there are medicines stored at the clinic I operate, so I cannot fully rule out that possibility.

I hope you'll share your findings when you've concluded your study?

This is the third I've experience since my arrival. There was one instance of spontaneous outbreaks of song, another of sudden impulses to embrace. In both cases, those effected were limited to Travellers only.

I wonder ... would a chemical analysis of the food provided in the Welcome Halls be of use to your enquiries?

The last week?

Let's see -- Day 101, I had tea and toast. Lunch was the cafeteria in the Hospital, Sigyn.I had fish and stir-fry vegetables with rice. John-san made dinner!

Day 102 I woke up to find myself in a wood outside the city. I ate a sandwich and drank a drink box that the gods gave us, and we found crab apples, mushrooms and berries in the woods. We also caught a fish and cooked that on a fire.

Day 103, I ate a few berries before the attack. We didn't have any supplies with us afterwards, but I did drink some water. Lots of smoke inhalation.

Day 104, we arrived back in Asgard. My friends brought me food in hospital -- ice-cream, friend rice and orange chicken, licorice, chicken soup, a bacon and egg pie, sandwiches, cake, cookies ...

Day 105 - I ate hospital food and the food my friend brought. That trend continued until now. I'm still in hospital.

[Conan was pretty confident that anyone who was prepared to put time and effort in to compiling data on food consumptions and its possible correlation to the god's curses was willing to put the effort in to find and read any information on their actions. It's nice to see his assumption confirmed.]

That's right.
