What if, for example, they took people hostage...? [ a slight grin. ] You know, grabbing some kid and demanding "Do what you want or the kid gets it!" ...would you still be able to say you're not easily persuaded even in a situation like that?

I would not allow them to take a life of one who is innocent. ‘Tis an underhanded tact for them, but one that I know very well. All I could do in that situation is listen, and then turn the tides of battle around and make them wish they had never done such a thing to provoke me.

And what kind of equipment do you need? If I may be honest, you do not seem to be the type of soldier that carries a sword or an axe. Perhaps arrows? Pardon me if I am wrong, but you do have the build of an archer.

Arrows... yeah, you could say that! Arrows made out of lead, and a bit shorter than what you're used to. You could say bow and arrow technology has come a long way in my time. But it's not even that... for gathering information, the weapons are different. There's only so much you can get through force. Sometimes it takes more... finesse.

By what you are saying, you are implying that you are a spy. I am not sure if I am correct in that assumption, but such delicacy is only needed by one who wishes to invade enemy territory without getting noticed. If so, that is a very respectable position and takes one of special training to do such.

Ah, you figured it out. Well... I'm something like that, anyway. You could call me a secret agent, if you wanted... [ shrug. ] Though these days I specialize in a different sort of work, I do what I'm instructed to. Employers these days tend to want you to do a little of everything... A secret agent... it still sounds like fancy terminology for a spy, though I do not know how it would properly translate into what I know. But you are a spy that is instructed to do as your employer tells you? It is no different than a spy whose king or queen tells them to invade an enemy country. I do not know why you are trying to differentiate yourself as such, however it could be a concept I do not understand.

Hyahahah! That's exactly what it is. You caught me. [ a grin. ] Hm... I guess the word "spy" just has some nasty connotations sometimes. It's cooler to just call yourself a secret agent or an espionage specialist. Even if they all really mean the same thing, there's just a... subtle nuisance to it, I suppose.

I do not see how those names sound any better, other than sounding like fancy terminology. However, I am unfamiliar with the events of your world and if spies have a negative reputation about them.

Well, how about this... there are a lot of words for soldiers, but there's gotta be one you prefer to stick with.
