❦ 006 --> video.
[ And here is one person who hadn't shown her face in a long while. This is the Lady Morgana, a long gown, pale skin and black hair caught up in a messy bun.
A messy..? Yes, for once, she doesn't look flawless. But that is because of where she is.
Lady Morgana is in the kitchen and from the look of it, she is baking.
A royal woman baking, yep.
At her side, there is a rather nice looking pile of cookie dough and a few trays of cookies which she had, at last, after many weeks, managed to comprehend how to bake.
But now she's not baking them, rather she is trying something new. But she looks confused. ]
Mix the eggs - do they mean one at a time or all together?
[ watch her frown at the recipe. ]
Has anyone ever attempted baking a cheese cake? I find myself rather confused. I managed the crust but I can't comprehend the rest of it.
[ and now watch her just...eat a bit of cookie dough. This is hard, ok? ]

Teaspoon is this one and a tablespoon is that one, see they hold different amounts of sugar or salt or whatever it is we might be using. And pre-heating means you simply heat it without putting the cake inside. So when you do, it's already hot.
Isn't it very clever? I've asked Mary about all these things a few weeks ago and I've been studying them ever since.
[ she's the medieval Martha Stewart. ]

Wow, you picked that up fast. It took me a while to learn what some of the fiddly things in the kitchen are supposed to do.
So pre-heating's like...lighting the fire in the oven so you can just stick the food in? Makes sense.
What else've you been making in here?

Try the cookie dough, it's brilliant. You're supposed to bake them but it's good like that too.
no subject
But...it's still raw isn't it? It's safe to eat like that?

Are you doubting me, Merlin?
no subject
[Merlin stares at the lumpy mix, and swipes some off of the mixing spoon.] ...here goes. [He tastes the mix, swirling it around his mouth experimentally.]
...huh. That's not bad.

[ brilliant smiling all around. ]

So...Mary's been showing you all this?[He glances at her.] She's been sort of quiet lately, hasn't she?

I could come with you...if you want. I've been worried, too.

A very good team. Maybe we should give ourselves a name or something.
So what do you think? Finish this cake of yours and go off looking for Mary?

Hey...Morgana? If you really like making things, we could always take a look around the city, to the bakeries, and find some new things for you to try.

A moment later and she smiles. ]
I'd like that.

[See his ears? They're turning kind of red here, because he's pretty sure she just saw straight through his attempt at being subtle.]
Errrr anyway. [Changing the subject hastily? You bet he is.] Let's finish this up and bring some to Mary. Maybe something like this will make her feel better.
[Rubbing at his neck--which is also feeling pretty warm to the touch, now that he thinks about it--Merlin keeps his eyes glued to the instructions.] What've you already mixed together?
no subject
--- Oh. Can you pass me the sugar?
no subject
Oh right. He should pay attention to the actual baking.]
Sugar? [One finger trails down the page until he finds the measurements for that ingredient.]
One half cup. I guess it means this? [He picks up the small plastic thing, then fills it with sugar and passes it over.]

[ She smiles. ]
I never thought I'd be baking a cake, to be honest.
no subject
Didn't think I'd see the day, either, but I never would have thought I'd see a prince and a court lady fighting to protect my village, either.
[The smile he gives her is fond, masking the twinge of sadness he feels in his chest as he tells her this.] You Pendragons always manage to surprise me.
no subject
[ but it's said with far too much affection to be convincing. ]
I remember your village very fondly.
no subject
Really, Ealdor? There wasn't much there, not compared to Camelot.
no subject
no subject
No--you're right.
[Morgana might have all the jewelery and dresses she wanted in Camelot, but she had still been lonely enough to turn against Uther eventually.]
I wish you could have stayed longer. My mother, and the others, would have welcomed the three of you.
no subject
[ a smile. ]
Your mother was so kind to us. As you are still, Merlin. I can see where you got your patience from.
