[Short and to the point. Are there leaders here? People who aren't the gods that have authority and to whom he can speak. It would be the most efficient method for learning more. They should have greater knowledge than regular inhabitants.

They aren't providing much direction for having us here. [If there's a war, so far he hasn't seen the gods doing much leading if some people who have been here longer don't know much about it.] It would be better to ask them. [Like he's commenting on this to himself, but he already has seen that they aren't easily contacted.]
