If anyone is interested, I've put together a short, basic guide on the city and the things that have happened up until now. A native was kind enough to show me how to submit a document like that - it's just like a typewriter except without all of the fussy ribbons.

Everything I've put there I gleaned from other Travelers, natives, and the gods' announcements. I arrived just before the thick fog lifted, so obviously there are gaps in my knowledge. If anyone could help fill those in for me, that'd be great.

(ooc: So...apparently something wrong when I was re-doing Edmund's icons, because now the icons in this entry from before are all his default. Sorry about that!)

They're fair enough to answer questions, if asked. And I would find it hard to believe the people before us haven't already tried gathering information.

There are enough people trapped in this place for it to be difficult to keep track of an individual's fate. That is to say, there could have been losses without the information becoming public.

You have a point there. I'll ask around in case there's something I've missed - have you heard anything along those lines?

Yes, it hasn't even been that long for me. Needless to say, even this amount of time is more than I'm willing to spare.

Ah! I would be deeply grateful for that. [ that's him bowing btw ] My name is Ja'far, I'm afraid that I forgot my manners.

That seems to be the common sentiment.

[Edmund returns the gesture with a nod.] Not at all, Ja'far. My name's Edmund, if you ever need to contact me for anything.

That doesn't come as a surprise, considering that everyone will have their own agenda away from this place.

I shall remember this. Please, consider this a mutual offer. I can be found in Heimdall if the situation calls for it.

Agenda or not, the gods do not seem willing to compromise. This might be a problem later.

[A hint of a smile.] I'm in Heimdall, as well, so catching one another will be easy enough. My room number is 701. What about yours?

Those who hold too much power quickly believe themselves above the opinions of others. In my eyes, this is why rulers should be chosen instead of electing themselves.

I am glad to hear this. So far there have been nothing but pleasant encounters in this house. [ smiles are welcome! Ja'far seems so much more tranquil when he sees some ] Room 408. I have yet to meet the person living next to me.

Chosen by the people? That's a very democratic sort of thinking you have there.

[Come to think of it, neither has Edmund.] We must be missing our neighbors somehow - I have been out and about the city most days. I suppose it isn't too odd.

Is that your opinion? It might be that I have seen all too many self-elected kings who have failed their duties. Those whose titles have come with their heritage often fall prey to greed!

[ I dooon't think you are supposed to be a ninja, Edmund. Ja'far, at least, is an assassin, that makes sense. almost ]

Ah, I found no reason to stay in my room myself. I did hope that the library would provide information...

[He makes a sound of agreement.] I thought that when I first got here, too. Then I found that asking the natives or the Travelers who have been here longer was much more effective.

Can you trust them more readily than those kings? [ Too bad Ja'far doesn't even know what wardrobes are, let alone Narnia ] Truthfully, the King I am speaking of is a special case. He founded the country and the people love him deeply.

That makes sense in a manner. Still, the issue would be to approach a bear stranger. Who will know facts, how is one to ensure the quality of the information? Not to mention that it can be seen as thoughtlessly rude.
