003 [Video/Action]

[Laura is walking through the now colourful land of Asgard. She looks less like someone who is appreciating the beauty of nature and more like a caged animal pacing.

She raises her communicator to give a panoramic view of a multi-hued area of the streets of Asgard, moving it around to prove her points.

The gods cannot be relied on to keep their word. They will probably try to hold onto us for insurance.

[Pessimistic? Just a bit. But then, Laura has never been a ray of sunshine. It's not in her nature to see the bright side of life.]

I'm a judge, and also the curator for the Heroes. I serve as the liaison between them and the justice system, coordinating their efforts with law enforcement.

Registered? I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Those who work as Heroes chose their profession. In spite of their special abilities, being a Hero is a career, if rather more dramatic than most, and they have contracts and sponsors and provide their employers with personal information, though their true identities are protected from the public, if they so choose.

Ah, I see. Our histories have been different.

All Heroes in my world are NEXTs, people born with unknown mutations that give them powers, both small and great. Some of these NEXTs work as Heroes, that's all. Some do not. It's a choice, and for those Heroes who choose to remain anonymous, as most do, their actual identities are closely-kept secrets. The Heroes have been working in our city since not long after NEXTs first appeared in the population.

We do have vigilantes as well, but that's another matter.
