[Laura is walking through the now colourful land of Asgard. She looks less like someone who is appreciating the beauty of nature and more like a caged animal pacing.

She raises her communicator to give a panoramic view of a multi-hued area of the streets of Asgard, moving it around to prove her points.]

The gods cannot be relied on to keep their word. They will probably try to hold onto us for insurance.

[Pessimistic? Just a bit. But then, Laura has never been a ray of sunshine. It's not in her nature to see the bright side of life.]

Not laziness?

If it were laziness, they would know without doubt that the gods will not keep their word and not care. Some people sincerely choose to put their trust in the gods.

I can see that it'd be harder for people coming with worlds where gods exist and are pretty good, but still --

Ah, I guess if I understood that feeling, we wouldn't be having this conversation!

Gods existed in my world. Thor and Hercules were both members of a team of superheroes called the Avengers.

But not all gods are benevolent and blind trust is a bad idea.

The Avengers -- ah, do you know Hawkeye?

Not personally. I know of Hawkeye. I have met Captain America, though.

I've met her! She seems pretty cool. She said she was part of a team?

[Her? Oh, the female Hawkeye.]

That would be the Young Avengers. If she ever mentioned a team called the X-men, I was part of that team for a while.

There's a lot of superhero teams in your world, huh.

Yes, there are. There are supervillains and many criminals as well.

That must be pretty interesting -- we've got enough to do dealing with ordinary criminals in mine.

I suppose...although it does make it difficult for those who have powers. People sometimes assume that anyone with powers is a threat.

I can imagine how that'd be a problem ...

It's not unreasonable for people to think that, but...it is a problem for superheroes who want to maintain a private life.

Alter-ego's and stuff like that?

Yes. Being easily identified also exposes one's friends and family members to danger.

[Ha -- know that feeling.]

Ne ... do you have an alter-ego?

Yes, but I do not like the one that was given to me.

Eh -- you didn't get to pick?

No. It was assigned to me. I would have chosen something different.

[She'd considered Talon before.]

What would you have chosen?

Talon. Because of my claws.

That does seem appropriate! Ne -- it's still working all right? What we did?

Yes. I am not hurting myself when I use them anymore.

[Which is a big relief. She never realized how much she depended on her healing factor until she came here.]
