[ the video flickers on to a table--it looks to be in Odin, where the Eleventh Doctor is sitting with one leg slung over the other, what looks to be a Scrabble handbook in one hand.

there's a game currently in progress, letters clearly seen. except they're a bit different from what you might qualify as letters. he flips to the last page with a huff and sets it back down, then laces his fingers together. ]

Now, if you lot have played Scrabble before, good! If not, you really ought to expand your board game database, it's really quite fun! Better than Monopoly--who likes Monopoly? Monopolies were outlawed for a reason.

Rubbish game.

[ oh, right, he should stop rambling. ]

So! Me and... myselves, Ninth and Tenth, are in a bit of a pickle: should "of Rassilon" be acceptable as a suffix? It's as commonplace as "ing" in the English language.

The Silence?

Think of something very, very scary.

Now think of turning to see it, being scared, and turning away, and then never remembering it was there in the first place.

Once you look away, it's not there to you. Only while you're looking at it are you completely terrified and able to sense you're in danger.

That is part of the Silence.

No, what's convenient is post-hypnotic suggestion. If they command something of you while you're looking at them, and you look away--you'll be doing what they say, whether you like it or not.

Really, their biology isn't very interesting--that's the bit that makes you forget once you turn away. It's almost the same as another creature, a Weeping Angel. ... must've evolved differently.

[ sorry, bit of a tangent, and he doesn't look particularly happy. he looks quite old, and tired, and he isn't perking up. ]

It's a very good thing that Asgard doesn't seem to attract any of them.

[Neither does Riku. He's not panicking, not showing it at least, but his expression is hard and set. Dealing with a creature like that, and similar one...

He feels a chill up his spine but restrains himself from shivering. Thinking about these beings, and remembering how Ansem was...]

Doesn't seem like your universe is very lucky with things like those around.

But that's one thing we can be grateful for at least. Asgard seems to be clean from creatures we know from home.

[ he lifts his head and gives a tight smile. ]

Any creatures you're not keen on having here?

[He hesitates. The chances of some swarm of Heartless getting pulled in is kind of low, but Elven did just tell him about his own monsters, and if he knew, then he'd have someone other than Sora to fall back on if a swarm did show up out of the blue.]

...Yeah, some. Mostly shadow-like things, called Heartless.

'Heartless'?

[ he leans forwards, interested in hearing a bit more. ]

S'that literal?

I didn't come up with the name.

But yeah, to some extent it is. They're monster, made from former hearts that were lost.

[ the way he's picturing it makes him... wrinkle his nose. ugh that just doesn't sound pretty. ]

No, that doesn't sound like you'd want them up and about.

And what do they do?

[They are very nose-wrinkle worthy.]

Prey on people, consume more hearts... and envelope worlds into darkness.

... yes, we'll have to make completely sure they're never in Asgard, then.

...Yeah. [His smile tries to go it's usual, confident route, but fades halfway there, turning into something more wry and exhausted.]

Let me know if you see or hear anything about them here. Shadowy creatures with glowing gold eyes. They're sort of...

[Ngh, he doesn't want to say it, and his eyes dart to the side, to the Keyblade off camera as he trails off. It's not really his. It's more of Sora's thing, but Sora doesn't have his Keyblade.

He'll just have to substitute, even though he wants to scream it's Sora's job and he's only helping.]

[ his voice is quieter now, to meld with Riku's subdued expression. ]

[A bit more firm this time. He smiles, wryly.]

Not many can deal with them. I can.

[ most people would probably ask if he's the only one; but numbers are never a proper indicator of power. Eleven, of all people, knows that, with the way people speak about him.

Sounds as if most of Asgard's brought in are experts, people who can do one thing extraordinarily well, exemplars in their home worlds and dimensions.

[Snorting a laugh. He's not trying to be rude, but really? Expert?]

I'm far from an expert. It's just a job not everyone can do.

I wasn't talking about just you, though I don't see how you can't see yourself as an expert if you're one of the few that can do what you're supposed to do. Unless you're telling me you're not particularly skilled in your responsibility.

I know you weren't. But I doubt other people would consider themselves to be experts too.

I'm not. [Another quick glance to his Keyblade and back again.] But lets just say that it's something you don't have a choice to do.

... what'dyou keep looking over at?

[He hesitates, then abruptly gets up, retrieves the blade, and sits back down, idly playing with the keychain before holding the whole Keyblade up to the feed.]

...The thing that choose me.

[ he looks at it with an indescribable expression--intense, but not inherently bad, but not exactly positive, either. to be honest, he's never been one for letting teenagers run around with weapons. he does, however, realize that different worlds and different dimensions are all different, and that's the beauty of them. ... he doesn't like it, though. ]

It's a kind of sword, isn't it? By the balance, I'd say a rapier, but that wing sticking out throws that idea out.

[At the very least, at least it's not a Gunblade? That's like two weapons in one.]

It's called a Keyblade. Like a sword, but not really. It can take on different kind of shapes, and... this is the way mine looks. The wing is supposed to be its teeth, I think...

[It's so... awkward having to explain it. More awkward than Sora's ever had it he thinks.]

Oh, yes, I see it now.

[ he wags his finger over the shape of it. if he squints and turns his head to the side, it's... sort of like a key... sort of. ]

Keyblade. And that's what you use to fight, I suppose.

[...he's kind of hoping Sora might gets his soon too. It'll be much easier to describe with a Kingdom Key around.]

...It's the only thing that will defeat those Heartless normally.
