fifth slay ❊ ⊰ video/action for thor house (see ooc note) ⊱ ❊ open the door to heaven or hell
[ The first thing Asgard will see is Buffy from a slight distance, a few feet away to be precise, lifting her shirt partially to show what was formerly a covered, slowly healing stab wound. It's now mostly scar tissue, and it's not healing instantly or particularly rapidly, but it looks better than it did last night, and it doesn't even need the wrap anymore. She does start to apply a regular bandage, however, just in case. It's not totally better yet. ]
So I think the gods finally listened to me. I just woke up from this crazy stupid Slayer-style nightmare, and I wake up, and that whole stabbing thing almost looks like it can live without band-aids... And two-plus-two equals fully restored Slayerness. I got my powers ba--
[ At this point she's about four minutes into the five, because she was asleep for the first couple and showing off her sweet healing wound for the next. She stops and puts her shirt down, grabbing her bracelet quickly. She's suddenly frantic, and the heat she was ignoring to be a side-effect of getting her powers back is now becoming pain. Her face contorts and she starts to let out grunts, then yelps of pain. The five minutes are up and her clock is ticking VERY quickly. ]
Something's wrong!!
[ She drops her bracelet, which clatters to the floor and shows nothing but. She yells out, doubling over. Her feet are visible, and she's stumbling, and then all at once she goes completely silent and her body, complete with blood oozing from her mouth and pooling onto the floor from her lifeless face, thuds loudly to the floor, limp. Dead. Her eyes are open but unseeing, blankly staring into the bracelet's stone. Her hair's a mess, covering parts of her face, falling into the blood (which just keeps on pooling for a minute before it finally stops when those nerve impulses are done and she's dry) and soaking it up. ]
{{ OOC; Housemates who saw this and know her/her room number are welcome to barge in, she generally leaves her suite unlocked when she's there unless it's nighttime. By the same token, anybody below her who heard the thud or suspect something are welcome to discover her - you're more than welcome to thread amongst yourselves if more than one housemate wants in on it. But um... She won't be replying to anything. 'Cause she... just ... died. Adurr. ALSO housemates are free to like... idk reply via her bracelet for her if they find her??? Go nuts... }}

[Audio]
[The sudden onset of her pained reaction is quick, and while Kiri would normally be frantic about getting her help and trying to find out where this girl may be, the fact that she's suddenly on the floor and bleeding out makes him stare silently at the feed.
She's dead, and he's pretty sure this can not be a trick. It was impossible. The stabbings made him uncomfortable after he found out about them, but this goes beyond that. It feels like his stomach jumped up into his throat, and the scissors and material he had been working with are dropped on the table as he stares at her feed in horror. Even if he didn't know her, there's a choking sense of helplessness just from the fact that he watched her die and couldn't do anything to prevent it.]
What the hell...?!
[Audio] 20 minutes later...
[Clipped tone? You bet.]
no subject
S-she... [He swallows, trying to make his voice sound less shaken than he actually is.]
Why...? Do you know what happened to her?
no subject
no subject
[There's a sharp intake of breath as Kiri realizes that he lost control again, and he looks away from the screen despite the fact that there's only an audio feed.]
Sorry. I...I just can't believe this would happen. I thought they brought us all here to help, not to kill us off when they felt like it!
no subject
[SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE HAS FIRSTHAND EXPERIENCE.]
no subject
[Oh, all the sarcasm. He's just a little too upset at the moment.]
[Audio] an hour or so later
1/3 Wherein Kiri feels like the most gullible person in the world
[Oh hey, familiar voice of a dead person.
He's totally not freaking out internally at all.]
no subject
[And there's a bit of a mood whiplash included as he goes from shocked to enraged. Was this some kind of joke?!]
Grrhh, what the hell, "temporary"? How could that be--
no subject
No, we haven't. And yeah, I was concerned considering that...that happened!
[There's another growl that's immediately followed up with a heavy sigh.] Sorry, I just...don't understand.
video;
She is now horrified.]
Miss? MISS?!
video;
I'm afraid she can't hear you.
video;
[No, wrong question. It's obvious she isn't going to be all right.]
...do you know what happened to her?
video;
video;
That's terrible!
video;
Quite. I wouldn't be surprised if we were all expendable.
video;
[And that's true. Nobody is expendable, she feels - seeing war and death has never settled well with her for a good reason.]
not here;
Tyranny. This is utter and absolute tyranny. It makes his blood boil, can only remind him of the ways the Templar oppress and make examples of innocents, to prove a point.
He ventures by rooftop, of course, to Thor, noticing the commotion below, only able to see her dead, lifeless, and easily mangled body being brought out among a sea of worried travelers. Clenching his fist at the injustice given, he can only bow his head at what remains, and while he isn't close enough-]
Requiescat in pace.
[He stands, the assassin clearly bothered by what was done, and turns, knowing what he has to do.
It seems the Bureau already has a job needing to be taken care of, for the people, as well as Asgard's sake.]
action;
And then she hears the cry coming from her roommate's door. Buffy doesn't cry out like that. Not unless she's in-
Bayonetta sprints, bursting the door open just as Buffy's eyes glass over. The witch stares blankly at the body below her, not even sure what to do, the shock too sudden, too quick. How had this even happened- she was fine two minutes ago, being normal and grateful and...
Her jaw clenches, snapping the woman back into reality, bending on her knees and slowly closing Buffy's eyes with her gloved fingers. She can at least give her a peaceful look to her death.]
This wasn't fair to anyone, was it, darling.
[A statement, her voice tight, drawn. The gods may have their fun now and then, but this? Was wrong. It reminded her of Balder, the monster who insisted he was her father.]
Be safe, black cat. I've got some gods to slay.
[Even if slaying was impossible, she definitely has a bone to pick with them.]
video, about an hour and a half or so later.
... Thanks. For - um... For talking t-- for everything.
[video]
He sees buffy's post (noting that he's seen her around Thor a bit but never talked to her), and the fact that she's received her powers back. Tch, lucky. He'd feel much better with his own back-
-and then she yells out, and something in his mind flashes back to something someone told him about when he arrived: that their bodies couldn't handle their powers here. All he can do is watch in helpless horror as she dies, watch the blood splatter and see her lifeless eyes gazing into the feed.
Fuck. Fuck! The gods-those bastards did this?! And for what? To prove a fucking point?! Why the hell should anyone die because they just questioned if they knew this was going to happen?!
He grits his teeth in anger, but he knows he can't do a thing-can't do a single goddamn thing-and it only makes him angrier.]
Shit...!
[video]
But Bayonetta isn't in the mood to play, nor joke around. Her voice is serious, eyes furious at what's happened, and having to answer concerns on Buffy's behalf isn't making anything better.]
There isn't anything we can do. They made sure of that.
[video]
Bastards!
[He practically spits out the word, eyes flashing in his near-rage.]
Did they think this would fucking teach us something?!
[video]
[Her words are acidic, still furious at what's happened.]
I'm beginning to wonder if we're nothing more than pawns to them in this whole escapade. We're expendable.
[Video] 1/2
This has to be a hallucination. No, surely -- it has to be. He's been seeing violent ones lately -- Lucifer attacking random people, doors slamming on fingers that aren't there, necks broken at the blink of Sam's eyes only to be made whole again -- and that is surely what this is. A hallucination that will just go away like all the others.
But Sam's delusions can only go so far -- and other people are reacting to this -- and individuals that Sam knows are sane and real are beginning to scream about it -- and somewhere, deep in Sam's heart, he knows this isn't a hallucination.
This is an execution.
And in his ear, Lucifer is offering commentary -- ten points for the gore, but she ruined her shirt, so I guess you'll just have to buy her a new one, Sam, this is what happens when you get close to people, they. all. die. and then you're left only with me, because that's how it always has been, and that's how it always will be, aren't you excited, fly over that cuckoo's nest, Sammy, because if you can't even accept the fact that your girlfriend is dead, you are so far into the Cage that you can't even begin to find your way out again -- a constant stream of murmuring reverberating inside his skull -- come on, Sam, I can fix this, you can trust me, come on, come on, talk to me, Sammy, you can trust me, together we have the power to fix this city and send them all packing, you know how powerful we are when we work together, come on, Sammy -- ]
SHUT UP!
[It's loud, and angry, and terrified, and frustrated, and there is a crash as Sam slams a lamp over in his effort to get Lucifer to stop talking, and there is just the sound of a soft chuckle at the back of his neck, and the bracelet abruptly flickers off to Sam's shuddering breathing as he presses his hands into his desk to hold himself up straight, to fight off the hallucination, and to try not to cry, because it's completely real, Sammy, that isn't my doing ♥.]
[Text // Private // Unhackable]
Tell me what happened.
Now.
[Text // Private // Unhackable]
But the text appears soon enough, the witch more than displeased by what she's gathered.]
I believe the gods returned her powers to her, Sam. I don't know how or why, but they did. And you remember what they've told us already about our powers being incompatible.
[A pause as she adds in the next part a minute later:]
...I believe they wanted to make an example out of her, and anyone else who wants their powers back. To prove a point.
[Text // Private // Unhackable]
This is my fault.
I should have been able to do something.
[What fucking good is hunting the supernatural for all of his life if he can't even keep the people he cares about safe from a bunch of gods.]
{ video } about an hour and a half later.
No matter how she tries to gain her composure, though, she's not okay. She's not okay in the least, and when she finally musters up the nuts to reply to Sam... Well. She's still in tears. ]
I'm sorry, Sam. I'm so sorry...
{ video }
Are you at the hospital.
[Lucifer won't leave. He's constantly in his ear. But the way that Sam is speaking, it's as if he doesn't even notice the Devil on his shoulder.
His attention is entirely focused on Buffy.]
{ video }
[ And even though she's not going to say it out loud, her tone is pleading with him to come see her. ]
{ video }
I'll be there in ten minutes.

He'd rather endure Hell for two hundred more years than have the people he cares about endure any pain at all.]
Why are you apologizing?
[It's quiet, soothing, as he gently rubs her back, to try and get her to calm down.]
It's not your fault.
