But if they're after these, then why would they give them to us in the first place?

[Bedraggled, you say? Atobe had just returned to the building after a long jog to get his racket when he notices her, slowing in his steps. Who's this one?]

A~n? I don't think I've seen you before. [And as far as he's concerned, it's better he knows who was in the building even if it was just one meeting.]

[She's pretty out of sorts! Huddled with a blanket, hair uncombed, eyes a little wide. The eyes glue themselves to his face the moment he opens his mouth.]

I got lost.

[Lost?] Where were you supposed to be going?

I wasn’t being bad.

[Pouting? A little? Maybe.]

I just wanted to go out.

I never claimed as such. [He answers smoothly, ignoring the pout.] And as I'm aware, the distance from here to the door is not that far.

I went further than that.

[Her eyes drift away from his face, as if she's thinking of something else. Where she went, perhaps?]

But I didn't have anything.

[And back to him.]

And they didn't know who I was. So I couldn't come back.

[That confuses him.]

What are you talking about? [Couldn't come back?] You're in the building, are you not?

What do you mean?

The bracelets. They're your ident.

No word on how theft affects this yet.

[He's been in and out of the Odin House dealing with business, as one would call it, but when he passes through the common rooms once more, the girl catches his attention and he pauses, singular arm having parchment tucked underneath it, satchel drawn across his chest. Pausing, his brows furrow and he exhales quietly before speaking, accented voice sounding.]

You look focused. Something on your mind, miss?

[She looks up at him, eyes wide, sort of nervous. Not just of him, really - of everything. Like a cornered animal. Her voice is hoarse when she speaks.]

Haven't eaten.

[He keeps a respectful distance before slowly reaching into his satchel and pulled out an apple, holding it up as he looked to the quiet figure.] It's not much.

But it's yours if you'd like it.

[Oh. Well, that’s awful nice of him. A calmness creeps into her eyes, or at least a bit of trust.]

Thank you.

[She takes the offered fruit, eyes darting to the satchel and then the parchment under his good arm.]

You’re a student.

[The nod that he gives her is solid as he allows her to take the fruit as she will, his grip going lose as soon as she takes the fruit from his palm. Noting her glance, he looks to the items as well before clearing his throat slightly--accented voice sounding.] Ah--was a student.

I've been working on mapping the city in more detail, cartography.

Keep your bracelet with you. They only know who you are when you're wearing it.

[She takes a bite of the apple, and fingers her own bracelet. It seems like she has some experience in this department.]

They don't use faces.

[He pauses at the reply and his brow furrows somewhat in question. He does not like this place because of the technology so it goes a little over his head at the moment. Still, he is interested and it is obvious in his posture.] The bracelets?

Are you referring to us being numbers or something of the sort?

Mii. Are you referring to the gods?

No. The grays. The ones without the faces.
