[The video feed flickers to life, and there is a man with dark hair gazing at the "screen" for all to see. There is something decidedly serpentine about the incline of his head, the way his lips are almost curled into a snarl, exposing a flash of white teeth before he speaks.

The man's voice itself is low, surprisingly so, for such a face; almost as if there is the perpetual rumbling, the sound of gravel, at the back of the throat.]

Zok bein. Even my own tongue does not come to me as it should, as naturally as I breathe. Instead my mind is filled with the muddled words of this foreign language, and my body weak.

[He then scoffs – the dry, humourless kind that could pass as a hiss.]

Who encases me in this prison of flesh, rips my Voice from my throat and takes away my wings? These "gods"? Meyye. I know nothing of these so-called gods.

[Man, he's just a bundle of sunshine, isn't he?]

In defeat, I have done nothing to warrant humiliation.

[Oh,dragon. Not a vampire or a werewolf, like he was thinking.] I'm sorry that you have to endure this. Dragon aren't made to be trapped, much less in their own body.

I'm afraid I don't know what joor means, sir. [And even if it was supposed to be an insult, he's not offended.] I am a Keltoi, not a human either. But the reason why I could summon my wings is because I'm a djinn, someone who's the vessel of a god's power.

[The word itself is not an insult, although the way Alduin says it it might as well be one.] Joor. Mortal. A word applied to many here. ~~[himself included now]~~

A vessel? And whose power do you carry?

[noticed.] Ah, I see. well, it's an appropriate word.

The power of the earth goddess Asherah. But she's not here and my powers are gone now. I have a different one and I belong to the House of Sigyn now. Asherah is still my mother, though. Might I ask what house are you in?

Asherah. The name of yet another god of which I do not recognize.

I have been assigned Baldr, but that does not mean I hold loyalty to the name itself. I have not even met the patron of this house.

I don't recognize any of them either. My world had different ones, and way much, much more gods.

Understandable. I think you are free to ask for an audience if you want to meet him.

[Baldr, that explains a few things. Laurent spent the other morning in that district and eventually he had to go back to his own house because of the look the people there were giving him.]

Ask for an audience? [An exhale of air, and it sounds like a bah! The very connotation pricks at his pride.] I shall take it upon myself to find him if I desire.

That's one curse of action yes, but it can be...unwise. Gods here have enough power to change our natures, who knows what else can they do.

Of course I am not, by any means, trying to change you mind, but attacking your enemy without knowing him can do more harm than help.

[This eyeroll thing, it's so cool. He couldn't do that very well as a dragon.]

I do not need your stratagems when it comes to waging a war. I said nothing of attacking, though I refuse to hold my tongue in fear.

I'm not an strategist, sir. But unhappy people sometimes does more than just talk. Caution and fear aren't the same thing.

I will abide by caution where I see fit. [You would think Alduin would have learned his lesson by now, but. Prrrobably not.] Those who show too much caution are just as useless as the fearful. Nivahriin.

Fair enough, sir. [Learning is for the weak. One would think that discovering that he had the power to save or destroy his world would make Laurent more confident but that didn't happen either. He is, however, very patient.]

[Go figure.] I learned to be so I could survive in my world. And as far as I know dragons have powerful names, I've meet them before. Might I ask what's yours?

Alduin. It is indeed a powerful name. [One that he will be forever proud of.] I imagine you are not clever enough to guess at its meaning; do you wish to know it?

I would say it's more a matter of different languages than cleverness. I can tell you that my name is Laurent, but do you know what it means? I won't think less of you just because of something like that.

However, please go ahead, I like to learn new things.

[The grin he shows is slightly unnerving.] I am. What mortal does not fear the end of times?

I don't. [No pride on his tone, but doubt either. He's just stating a very known fact.]

[His eyes search his reaction, and hears only sincerity in his tone.] Why?

Because living is far more scaring than dying.

And yet many fight to live. You would not?

I would, yes. I'm not afraid to die, that doesn't mind I want to meet my end so soon. And I would fight or others.
