[Wait no Akari stop this isn't your computer you're on you can't talk like how you'd write an email!!] This might be a strange question, but I was wondering about the various businesses and such that people have here. I've noticed that people here have started up their own businesses and shops, so...

[She nods to herself. YEAH, THIS'LL BE FUN!!] If possible, I'd like to ask what sorts of businesses people have running. What you do there, what times it's open, where it is, and things like that. Alternatively, if you're thinking of starting a business but haven't done so yet, I'd really like it if you could tell me a bit about it.

[And for the rest of the day, Akari can be seen quite literally anywhere! She's going all around the city looking for any kind of business or shop, from various cafes to possibly even your own place. For places that sell food or some other good, Akari is taking a look at the things being sold while jotting down some notes in a small notebook before finally purchasing something for herself. For other kinds of places, she may be trying to get a worker's attention with something like "Um, excuse me!"

If you happen to catch her outside of a store, Akari is once again jotting notes in her notebook, flipping over pages and reviewing what she's written. She seems a bit tired from having walked around for so long, but that smile on her face is that of someone who's completely satisfied with what they've done.]

Being a gondola operator is more complicated than I thought...

Rowing a gondola properly can be very difficult! It takes a lot of practice, and not everyone is so good at first. [Including her... though that might be because she taught herself accidentally how to row backwards oops.]

Do you think I could do it?

Hmm... [Looking at him up and down and SIZING HIM UP.] I'm sure that with enough practice, you'd be great!

Then let's do it. I'll become a gondola operator.

Oh, not as in being single! When you train to become an undine, you're given a pair of gloves to help protect your hands. Rowing a gondola is difficult, especially when you first start out, and you're likely to get blisters. Those trainees are called Pairs. Once you become better at rowing a gondola though, you'll get less blisters and thus won't need so much protection. At that point, if you pass the test to become a Single, one of your gloves is removed, and thus you become a Single.

A Single is what I am. One day though, I want to be a Prima undine, and then I won't have any gloves at all.

That's more complicated than I thought it would be.

I'll be alright though. I'm good with my hands.

Well, I know that's how it works for undines at least. I'm not sure if other jobs involving rowing a gondola have such an order to them.

Even so, it's customary to wear the gloves at first.
