001 - Video

[The video feed opens to an odd angle, as if the bracelet has been tossed carelessly aside. And it has. It was far to feminine for the taste of the pair of masculine hands that are now working caked mud off of the barrel of a very old-fashioned rifle with a bloodied shirtsleeve. The fingers of the right hand are splinted and bound, but manage well enough. The scarred face of a middle-aged man dips into view, and he begins musing to himself in a gruff English accent.]

Never a better time to pull a man away from his job than when it's complete, eh Moran? Far better than pulling me away before it's even started. [It had been fun, even if this "enormous hound" he had been hunting had ended up being a pack of trained-to-kill wolves. And even though that bastard Saul had trod on his shooting finger.] If anything, these "gods" are kind to the rules of the hunt.

[He hoists the rifle up into his arms, taking aim as if he's going to shoot. He doesn't. He's simply checking to be sure everything is lined up properly. Cares about his guns, this one. When he lowers the firearm again, gingerly avoiding his broken fingers, his expresion has shifted. He almost seems a bit worried, melancholy even.] Now, how's the Professor going to take to me being gone?

[Sebastian has to scowl a little when that ridiculous bracelet notifies him of...something. Setting the rifle aside like it's the most precious object he's ever owned (it is), he snatches for the bracelet with significantly less gentle hands. His eyes skim quickly over the line of text, eyebrows furrowing. Of course his fingers are broken. Clearly his fingers are broken, but Sebastian is still blissfully unaware of the still-streaming video, and can't fathom how anyone can see that his fingers are broken. He also doesn't really know how to respond via a trinket, so he just...speaks and tries to sound confident.]

So they are. How could you possibly know that?

He does seem a little baffled as he responds, however. This video thing is new to him, and what he's seeing isn't nearly as grainy as the stereopticon pictures they have back home--or even in black and white. Fascinating.]

[Oh--his hand! Right. Well, he feels better now. You should have seen him when it first happened. I'ts not comfortable, per say, but it's certainly better than it was.]

Top notch, like I said. I've certainly had worse. Perhaps you could point me in the direction of higher quality medical attention than this, however? [The splints aren't haphazard, but could be better.]

[It's a relief, having someone familiar -- even if it is a relative stranger. All Watson knows of Moran is what he's heard in the dispatches and troop gossip -- the most daring, most ruthless, most acclaimed of Her Majesty's soldiers -- and the most quietly let go. There's some scandal there, but no one seems to know what -- or really want to talk about it.]

((Moran's still got an aristocratic background in the books, right? Movie doesn't give him much explanation, but his accent is not posh at all, so I'm trying to work out if Watson should be going 'huh' or not.))

((Yes, he still has a pretty aristocratic background. I've only seen a couple clips from the film, but this Moran and that Moran seem to have pretty different ways of speaking. ALSO, just a heads up: this Moran is from pretty early into his employment with Moriarty, so he isn't likely to know much about Watson other than maybe recognizing his name.))
