Oh would you look at that. [Finally, something about this place that seems to impress Gwen Cooper who appears to be trying to pull back from her screen]

Oh I'm on, right. Hello. Gwen here. Erm. [She pauses, as if to edit her words before speaking] So I got the letter and the lovely little bracelet thing, and the faceless lass has been so very helpful. [Too soon for sarcasm? Never]

[She pauses again and now the irritation she's been feeling is etching it's way across her face]

I have got a few questions, like oh, I don't know. Who the bloody hell signed me up for this rubbish? Jack! If this has anything to do with you or that place I am going to murder you with my own two hands.

The TARDIS- It's a space ship. Or um... Well, Time Machine. Time and Relative Dimension in Space. It belongs t'the Doctor. Jack an' me traveled with him in it for a long while.

Really? [She pauses, piecing various snippets of information together] Jack's mentioned his Doctor a few times but he never said... Bastard! [Well for Gwen this has only just happened] Are you telling me he buggered off in that TARDIS thing without so much as a word?! I swear, I am going to throttle him when I see him.

[Good priorities there Gwen, really!]

[She chuckles- from what little she knew of Gwen so far, and what she was learning? Oh she liked her. This could be a fabulous friendship in the making.]

I doubt it. Jack and the Doctor... They're mates, but- you an' your friends. You're his. He wouldn't leave you for long. [And she knows, from what little she'd talked to Jack back home. How fondly he'd spoken of his team when he'd been on board the TARDIS with her and the rest.]

[Something in Rose's words caused Gwen's features to soften, her need to hunt Jack down and chew him out for pissing off being pushed to one side, for now at least.]

Sometimes I wonder with Jack. [A slight smirk playing at the corner of her mouth] It's all a bit much ya know, this business of different timelines. [Refocusing on Rose] None of this is new to you then, I mean you... Well what's a Tim and rel a... TARDIS do exactly?

It... can get a bit confusing, yeah. Specially here. [She'd huff at her bangs if there weren't already pinned back.] Y'sort of get used to it after a while, I s'pose.

It's ... Well it travels in time. The Doctor does- him an' whoever he's with. Usually's got someone with him- go about, exploring the universe... Saving it more often than not. --The Cardiff Rift. We were there when it opened up. Sort've.. had a hand in that- but it was an accident. [Mostly.] And the um... Cardiff Earthquake. [Lipchew] Dunno why it's always Cardiff. [Ruddy place.]

Oh, you were? [This was probably the point where she should have volunteered some information, but given the circumstances, perhaps it was best she didn't] Yeah the rift was ah. Not pleasant. [She tried for a smile, but for a flickering moment, there was an almost haunted look in her eyes]

But time travel yeah? [A not half obvious subject change there Gwen.] God wouldn't that be something. We just get all the crap that comes through the rift in Cardiff. Be nice to do something like that, see where it all actually comes from.

[Headtiiiiilt. Interesting reaction there, Gwen. But if she wants a subject change, Rose'll take it. Not that it's that far off of a change, really.]

That's what you guys do in Torchwood here, yeah? Take care'f the rift an' what comes through it? Thought we closed the breech off in... [...Anyway.] It's fun though. Travelin' through time and space. I met Charles Dickens.

Well yeah that's part of it. Other things tend to pop up from time to time but it's mostly dealing with the crap.

Other things like alien invasion? ...Or is that usually rift-related, too?

Yeah- Charlie. Nice bloke. Bit stubborn... [Spacial Genetic Multiplicity] Met someone there. Reminded me of you- you've got an old Cardiff family, yeah?

Well, more or less. If you count an accidental crash an invasion. Not sure what it has to do with the Rift, if at all.

[That made her eyes widen] Reminded you of me? [She shrugged, though still looked curious] Well, yeah we go back a ways. How come?

Depends on what's on the ship that crashed, I s'pose.

Yeah! Well, sort of. Think she was an ancestor of yours. Sweet girl.

Sex craved, human possessing, alien. Great first day of work let me tell you.

Oh great, so I can blame her for getting me involved in this rubbish.

[The smallest of smiles touching her lips. She complained all the time but honestly, she'd go mad with boredom if she were to try and leave it all behind now.]

[That first bit gets an interesting look- but no comment.]

Sort of. [Amused chuckle- It's a bittersweet sort of memory.] She saved the future. Stopped it from bein' rewritten.

Oh? [Well now she just feels a strange sense of pride over this ancestor she never knew existed before now.] Well at least now I know saving the world seems to run in the family.

[Which be less worthy of a chuckle if she knew what had happened to said ancestor]

See? Jack always picks the good ones. [As friends. And ... things.]

..Well. Not always, but I think he did alright with you.

[Well if that didn't make her all warm and gooey inside then almost nothing would, Gwen practically beaming in reply.]

Well, to be fair I didn't give him much of a choice. He likes to take credit for me but that's an absolute lie.

Even better! [Oh she likes you, Gwen.] Think it's about fifty/fifty for where we stand. He saved me from uh, fallin' to my death. But we saved him in the end, so it evens out. Cleaned up his mess an' everything.

[Oh you have stories about Jack. You two are going to be great friends.]

Cleaned up his mess? [Eyebrows raised.] You know when I get sorted here, you and I are going for a drink some time. [Pause.] Wait, they do have bars here yeah?

Oh yeah. Nearly wiped out the human race on accident.

I could go for that. ...Er, pretty sure they do somewhere. They'd better. [She's not actually sure, now that she thinks about it.]

Jack did? [You are shitting me...] Oh now we really need to chat sometime.

Well... if they don't have bars do they at least have tea?

Yup.

Oh they've got tea. Plenty of it. An' even if they didn't, Doctor's got plenty tucked away in his pockets.

Ahhh yeah. [Cause pockets. That's where you put tea isn't it...] Well then. You me, a cup of tea and then... everything you know about Jack Harkness. [A twinkle in her eyes as she said that.] Between the two of us I bet we have some amazing stories.

[Totally. Roomy pockets, they are.]

I'll bet. When and where, Cooper, when and where.

Uhh... well that all depends on how long it takes me to find... Heim whatever house. [She's working on it. That's why hse has Jack.]

Tell ya what though, as soon as I've settled we'll get together yeah?

Heimdall? [Making mental notes.]
