I have a proposal for all of you.

[Lucifer is seated casually, his hand propped up lightly by his hand. Immediately, any sane person should be wary, because a proposal for the Devil sounds like a danger. Yet, after a deliberate pause, what he says will likely be a surprise.]

This city is poorly lacking in a bar and lounge up to standard. Sky's Prize seems to be the main venue, yet it's far too Norse for my tastes. And I imagine most people who haven't already drunken themselves into a stupor.

I'm interested in establishing a bar and lounge here. One that is, as you would imagine, suited to higher tastes. I'm gauging interest in this, but also in potential employees and entertainment. The bar that I ran in Los Angeles was notable for its live entertainment, and I would like to continue the tradition. Jazz would be especially suited to the atmosphere, though I am willing to hear auditions from all sorts of performers.

How does the saying about idle hands go?

I have thought of this, and I am willing to have my doors open to residents of all ages, provided it does not become a playground. Besides that, being "underage" is a product of human government, and not something I particularly care to follow.

[a beat] Of course, drunken sixteen year olds would ruin the atmosphere. Eighteen. And there would naturally be a wide selection of non-alcoholic beverages to chose from, in case you wish to simply enjoy the entertainment.

Baldr. I considered a few other districts, but Baldr made the most business sense. After looking into the costs of starting and running a business here, I would receive significant discounts within my own district. From a business standpoint, the choice is clear.

Speaking of which, considering the described set up of this place, would the pricing be much different than Sky's Prize?

Of course. If I'm offering a higher class alternative, then the prices will reflect it. Alcohol would be at market price, and the food as I determine, but I'm also offering more than simple bar fare.

[He picks up a paper, reading off of it with a thoughtful expression. It's clear that this part bores him. This is why he paid someone to come up with this when he set up Lux in Los Angeles.] Nothing exceeding twenty copper runes to start with, but only two things under ten. Those seeking a casual bar will prefer the Sky's Prize, and those seeking more refinement will prefer Lux.

The feedback isn't surprising, it's that I am seeking it at all. Normally I would not bother with hearing them, for they would not be of any importance.

[It's said easily, as if it's just a fact] But it would be a shame to open Lux and see that the tastes of the populace were too lowbrow to partake in it.

[Lucifer just kind of stares at the door with vague annoyance. He'd been doing his best to avoid the person he shared some semblance of living space with, and opening the Lux was so that he could eventually move out. But for now, he'll be polite.]

[His voice is calm and easy, and he stands to greet him]

I hope to on occasion, though not every night. I grow tired of performing for the amusement of others, rather than the enjoyment itself.

What's 'jazz'?

It's a genre of music, and my favorite by far. It came about in the early 20th century in the Southern United States, heavily influenced by African music. The combination of instruments appeals to me. The bass, piano and brass instruments combining is truly beautiful.
