01 [ Video ] || Action Open to Sigyn House peeps

[ Having long perfected the art of stealth, Chane Laforet has been a silent presence on the network for a few days, now. She's gathered the information she could, done the proper exploring once the sun had set each night in this strange, grey world, and made sure to trust no one.
The communication device was unlike anything from her time or world, but was basic enough in design that she caught on after a few fumbles, that would have been more noticeable to the network had she not been a mute.

And so. A woman with short, black hair looks at the community with a determined, if slightly confused, expression, and holds up a set of FLASH CARDS, as if she's presenting a project to a bunch of colleagues. She holds up one note, which reads: ]

"I have misplaced the map I was given by the maid-woman."

[ Then shuffles it to the back, pulling out the next. ]

"Please, if anyone can reproduce something like this for me, I would appreciate it."

[ Her expression becomes slightly uncomfortable, as she's now second-guessing this entire decision. Nevertheless, she holds up another awkwardly floppy poster board. ]

"Can the people here see if some have no eyes? Some speak though I do not see their mouths."

[ And another one. This time she's holding it up in front of her face, so she doesn't have to feel as awkward... ]
"If I could be shown where to go to acquire the proper materials to arm myself,
that would be very helpful too."

[ Final note! ]

"Thank you for reading this message."

[ And she just slowly ... puts down all the notes, and sits, staring way too intensely at the video feed. She seems to be RIGHT outside the Sigyn House, so that should be recognizable enough, and is very under-dressed for the weather! ]

Thank you. It doesn't seem like many people are happy here.

Not really! But they just don't appreciate it.

[Ironically, Diva absolutely loves the strange city, because it is a second chance. This is her afterlife, so she's taking advantage of it.]

It's really not bad at all. I think it's kind of fun, actually, but maybe that's just me.

[silentmode]

[ Aside from the kidnapping scenario and the depressingly gray environment, she assumes there are a few other reasons for this. ]

Is it dangerous here? What are the threats?

[madamemoiselle]

[That makes her laugh, like she asked something really funny. And in Diva's mind, she did.]

Ah, I guess it's a little dangerous! But mostly the dangerous thing, it's the people with the faces, like you and me. The gods that brought us here, they do things too sometimes, but... It's definitely us.

[silentmode]

[ Chane thought so. Everything about this place was suspicious. The people here were no exception, despite any kind faces that might greet her. ]

A reason why I want to be able to protect myself. Circumstances like this cause instability.

[ She has no problem displaying her mistrust. She wasn't a good actress, anyway. ]

[madamemoiselle]

Oh, I understand. I've already been subject to it.

[She tilts her head lightly, whimsically, but grins like she has some great, secret knowledge.] Hey, watch out for redheads. They're especially bad.

[silentmode]

[ Chane has no idea that they are currently sharing the same joke in their head. She does take the warning seriously, though, to be sure that she takes extra caution around anybody that fits the description. There wasn't room or place for doubt in a situation like this, anyway. She would either be wrong and unharmed, or right and guarded. ]

Thank you for the warning. So much of what has been said on this technology has alarmed me.

[madamemoiselle]

Ah, really? Like what, if I can ask?

[silentmode]

People seem to want to kill each other. They are calling out for blood. There's conflict apparent.

[ Conflict meant alliances. United fronts. Things she didn't want to have to be forced to assess and distinguish for survival. ]

[madamemoiselle]

Ah.

[She pauses and points to herself] They're talking about me. I'm Diva.

[Diva pauses, realizing that might not make the best impression depending on what Chane has seen, so she just gives as kind and sheepish of a smile as she can] That's a pretty bad introduction, isn't it? But it's nice to meet you anyways.

[silentmode]

[ ...

The response is more delayed than the others. Aside from slating her as a potential threat, she's mostly neutral on this. She has no loved ones here, as far as she's concerned. Still, there was no sense in getting mixed up with somebody that had so many enemies before she had secured herself properly. ]

[madamemoiselle]

[coolly,] Of course. Do I get a name in return?

[silentmode]

[ There's not much hesitation in her response; she hadn't much of a reason to. Someone's reputation didn't have the possibility of threatening her, not with the people she had been surrounded by. It was best to diffuse the situation by stating neutrality and displaying that she wasn't suspicious. ]

My name is Chane. I don't wish to fight you. My only wish is to get home. I do not care about the conflict these people attempt to instigate.

I will stay out of your way, should you stay out of mine.

[madamemoiselle]

[She frowns, briefly]

Is that your way to tell me to stay away, Chane? I don't really want to fight with you either, so I want to make sure I'm understanding.

[silentmode]

It is my way of saying I have no interest in what people have said about you.

[madamemoiselle]

[She seems pleased by this and is all smiles again]

Alright! I want to make sure I don't misunderstand or anything.

[Oh, but she wanted to ask something else...] Hey, aren't you cold, though? That dress is cute, but it doesn't seem warm!

[silentmode]

[ She's not sure whether to take that as genuine concern or what, but she answers regardless. ]

I'll be fine. I will go inside shortly.

[madamemoiselle]

[In case Chane was following the adventures of Diva's room cleaning adventure, it is completely clean now! Minus a table which is sitting awkwardly because one of the legs is broken. Probably from where she smashed it into the wall.]

If you're sure! You're in Sigyn, right? I think I recognize it.

[silentmode]

Yes.

I hope I am not confined to this District.

We're allowed to venture out, yes?

[madamemoiselle]

[She nods]

No, you can go anywhere. When you go into other houses you feel really uncomfortable after a while, but that's the only thing I've really noticed.

[silentmode]

[ ... Huh. She's at least being helpful, moreso than most on the network. Chane takes note of this. ]

I'll keep that in mind. Thank you.

[ She's definitely noticed the room thing -- the girl seemed to have a lot of energy, not unlike her fiance. ]

May I ask one more question?

[madamemoiselle]

Of course! I don't know if I can answer it, but I'll try.

[silentmode]

Were their accusations true?

[madamemoiselle]

It depends on which ones you've heard. I drank someone's blood so that I could live, but I didn't kill him.

[silentmode]

[ That didn't really add up -- but instead of doubting Diva, she just feels the public here can be stirred into quite a frenzy, as it could back at home. ]

They had a strong reaction. Do they do that to others?

[ Oops that's another question ]
