It's rather strange, isn't it? Everything about this place, I mean. I have to admit, this city is... nothing like I've ever seen. It looks far more peaceful than I would have expected. Though I suppose then that, if this place really does need us, I'll just have to do my best to help.

[He frowns for a moment. All right, so going back home is definitely his first priority, but helping someplace in need while he's stuck here won't hurt at all, will it? ...But there are other things he's curious about and he turns back to the bracelet.]

Could it be possible that more than one of us has been brought in from each of our worlds? [Because that would so not be a good thing, as far as he's concerned.] I know some have, but all of us? I haven't seen anyone I recognize yet, but there does seem to be quite a large amount of people here...

It is peaceful. [ that's the one thing he's able to grant this place... he can't exactly call it quiet with the constant hustle of people arriving, but nothing bad has actually happened since. ] I'm not sure if that will last though...

I don't think that's true for everyone... Though as long as you keep looking, if anyone you know is here, I'm sure you'll find them.

I'd like to hope it'd last, but there must be some truth to their talk of saving this place.

That might be for the best, in the end, wouldn't it? They should get to stay home. [As nice as a few familiar faces might be, someone's gotta take care of things back home.]

I'd certainly find it preferable. There's too much going on, for some of us.

[And hey, he wasn't going to live much longer anyway, so if anyone has to get pulled out of the war early, he's the reasonable choice by any standard.]

On the other hand, considering that I've already spoken to people from disparate points in time, I do wonder if we'll actually lose time here at all. If they can take us from anywhere, then should we really expect going the other way to be more limited?

It can't hurt to look. Keep in mind that not everyone from your world may be someone you know personally.

I wonder what they mean by "saving"... if all we had to do was save it from some sort of disaster, the part about laughter and tears doesn't make any sense.

By the time we manage to return, everything could be over already. Any amount of time could pass.

Or we could simply be returned to when we left. That's what I'd hope for, at least. I'm not going to make assumptions, of course.

[But he's going to hope for it awfully hard. Because what even would happen if he returned too late, to when he should already be dead...?]

Even so, it might be for the best if no one else was brought.

It'd be a very strange disaster, to be connected to that.

Although, what a god may consider a disaster could be very different from what we would.

It'd be the best outcome, if we could continue as we were. [Or as close to it as possible anyway. He nods.]

I suppose it's all a matter of what exactly these gods want from us.

I don't know what that could mean.

With any luck, they'll give us a clearer explanation than in those letters. We can't save this world if we don't know anything about the situation.

For a metaphorical value of color, it fits well enough, even if it's vague.

Maybe, maybe not...it does look rather gray around here, if you ask me, but I don't think they're expecting us to get out a bucket of paint, either.
