❝ONE ; VIDEO / ACTION FOR SIGYN HOUSE ❞

Ooh? What's this?

[ tap tap. seems maya's finally found her bracelet, and she's obviously pretty mesmerized by it.

At least, for the moment. ]

I don't know what's going on, and to be honest, it's kinda weird, but this place is so cool! I'm sure Nick would scold me for saying that, but he's not here now anyways. ... Oh!

[ This'd be a good opportunity to ask, wouldn't it? ]

Um, I think that maid tried to explain what's going on, but I didn't really get it. [ as in, she wasn't paying attention. ] So could anyone fill me in? And tell me if you meet a guy named Nick! He'll probably introduce himself as Phoenix or Wright, but just call him Nick! Oh! One more thing! Is there any place to get burgers around here? I'm starving!

Uh, yeah, perfectly spiky.

[Maybe. Under that hat. If he didn't have a case of terminal hat hair by now.]

I'm one hundred percent sure. Look. Here's my badge. [It's shiny and everything.]

People here come from different worlds and times. It seems weird at first, but-- [He was about to say "you get used to it" but that's not true.] --uh, it still is weird after a while.

You can't get these from cereal boxes!

[Wow, don't insult his precious badge like that, Maya. It makes his voice a lot louder.]

I don't even know what kind of cereal would give out defense attorney badges. [Do cereals generally do tie-ins with lawyers? Why would they?] It has my number on it, 29003.

[He nods, emphatically.] It is. [Then a pause, and his voice lowers.] By the way, who are you?

I think it's probably a different kind of badge. It's hard to get these!

[He's not sure if he's convinced by that number = real logic himself, but as long as his badge is being taken seriously, he's not going to complain.]

Maya? He hasn't told me about you. But then, there's a lot he doesn't tell me. [Too much! Does Phoenix even tell him anything...? Sometimes he wonders.]

I don't think you're his assistant in my time. [As far as Apollo knows.] But it's nice to meet you, Maya. I'm Apollo Justice.

I haven't been working with him long, only five months or so, and there's a lot I don't know.

[It's just that he doesn't tell Apollo. He probably talks to everyone else about her. He can't tell Apollo anything directly, that's all. Not that he has a complex or anything.]

...I'm not sure, what year are you from?

Oh, uh, he likes to not tell me things in particular. I think he thinks it's funny, so don't take it personally.

[At least, he usually doesn't, or tries not to. He nods, completely unsurprised by this latest revelation.]

Everyone seems to be from seven years before me. Mr. Edgeworth, Ms. von Karma, and now you.

[Hopefully someone will appear and validate his time period!]

No no, it's not like that! I was just--kidding.

[The last thing he needs is more people not telling him things. Why is that the story of his life?]

She is, but I only talked to her briefly. I don't actually know her. Does she really hit people with that?

[Apollo thinks he is way more boring, because he is not WEIRD like Mr. Wright. What's wrong with being boring? But he is not exactly going to admit to that... (Also he underestimates his own weirdness.)]

That's not really why he hired me...

[But then why did he?]

I--but isn't that assault? That's not legal. You can't go around hitting people with whips!

Because I'm a great attorney. Also, it's a long story.

[Though technically, to be hired, one would have to be paid on a regular basis...]

You should point out to her that someone meant to uphold the law shouldn't be breaking it like that.

[That'll go over well.]

Well, I will!

[Look at him, so full of life and youth and purpose, never having been whipped in his life.]

So, Maya... Wait, you're the Maya Fey, who Mr. Wright defended?

[All these different people and different times and different everything are disorienting, but he is getting there!]

Right!

[Apollo is suitably impressed.]

I've read all of Mr. Wright's cases. So I know all about it. At least, the stuff that happened in court. Wow, I never thought I'd meet you--but then, I never thought I'd meet Mr. Wright, either.

My first case was defending him, as a matter of fact.

Oh.

[A pause.]

Uh, not really. I just read his cases. When I was younger, I saw some articles in the newspaper about them...

And I thought-- [He thought Phoenix seemed totally cool.] --they were interesting.
