Wow. Nice tech. Flashy. And here I thought waking up in Gotham was a headache. You've got to wonder how deep down this particular brand of eccentric dedication goes -- I mean, I've dated enough cops and have the common sense to know that this isn't a regular kidnapping. No ransoms, no demands, just promises of heroism, providing we do exactly as we're told. Vague instructions and all. It's our own personal social experiment-slash-reality TV show, set in Asgard (sure), which is making it seem like someone is in desperate, desperate need of lifetime membership to Arkham. Looks like I'm batting for Team Thor. Ooh, exciting. Do I get a roommate? Are we all gonna participate in team-strengthening activities and bond over a beer and a burger? Inquiring minds. -- Kate

Gotham: a city. Where I live. Cops: the police. Law enforcement. Pse/rTVs: We're here for the entertainment of strangers. Arkham: A mental institution for the criminally insane. Batting for: Sports reference. Means I'm a team player. Burger: Meat between bread. Welcome.

'Mental institution'. 'Criminally insane.' 'Sports'.

Mental institution: a building for those who are mentally unfit to live independently as a part of society, posing either a danger to themselves or others. Where they can get help. Supposedly. Criminally insane: people in the above group who break the law as a result of being ill in some non-physical way. Sports: recreational physical activities. You're the guy who didn't know what TV was, aren't you?

If you heard that description from a young girl with grey skin and red hair, then yes, I am. Why are there so many terms for the same things in your world?

Yeah, Aradia. She's the one spreading the sordid tale. Good kid. An accumulation of cultures meeting, regional dialects, subtleties in definitions, slang taking hold, I guess. I'm sure the vernacular of your world would confuse me just as much.

Aragorn. Hey. Guess I'm here to lecture on Earth -- or at least Gotham -- until a more suitable replacement comes along.

There is as much to be learned from a citizen as a history. Will you tell me of your city?

Oh, boy. Where do I start? I mean -- Gotham's a big place. What in particular do you want to know?

A Man I knew once started telling me of the city he loves and fight for by the banners that decorates her towers and the beauty of the towers itself. He tells me also the of clarion calls of trumpets as the city welcomes her lost sons.

Huh. We've got towers. Maybe not the kind you're thinking of, but a tall building is a tall building is a tall building, right? No trumpets, though we do have a light. A big symbol that goes up in the night, against the sky. We've got a guy who works at night, doing what he can for citizens that law enforcement either can't or won't. Everyone calls him the Batman. Don't know what he calls himself. But that's as far as hope goes in our city.

Perhaps our worlds are not so different. The beacons of Minas Tirith calls for hope and aid for our allies. Do the men of your city fight as well?

Men and women, and usually for no good reason at that.

You sound like a lady I know. Who do they fight against, if there is no reason to do so?

Is it 'a good thing'? The vices of Men seem to carry themselves through the different worlds, and I find that to be a tragedy. Have much changed from the efforts of 'Batman'?
