[Despite the most recent events, Inara's offering a small smile as the feed starts. She's sitting on the settee in her room, her hands clasped together on her lap.]

I have been horribly remiss in regards to the network lately and for that I do apologize. I know there are many new faces in the city and I'd just like to introduce myself. I'm Inara Serra and having been here a while, I don't mind answering questions anyone might have.

[She'd welcome them to the city but finds that terribly rude.]

I know I cannot make this whole ordeal any better, but if anyone wishes for a few moments of quiet over tea, that is something I offer.

[She switches the feed to private.]

No, I'm actually not. [Her eyes raise a little.] Have you been asking people the same three questions?

Not anymore. ( he mumbles that, slightly embarrassed. )

But I hear 'em a lot from others, too.

[companioning]

Well I think we all have the same basic questions when we first arrive; the hows and whys of it all. It's understandable and not something I hold against anyone.

How long have you been here now?

[sufferably]

Then you've got more patience than me.

As for that, almost two weeks now.

[companioning]

It's a talent of mine.

[One that has been tested over and over again while she's been there.]

Well, I'm sorry that I didn't talk to you when you first arrived, ah, Mister.....?

[sufferably]

McCoy. Doctor McCoy, actually.

And you're Miss Serra, is that right?

[companioning]

It's lovely to meet you, Doctor.

And yes, but I insist you call me Inara.

[sufferably]

Inara, then. ( he does not insist she--or anyone else-- call him leonard. )

Does it help? Drinking tea.

[companioning]

It does, at least I think so. I tend to buy different types of teas and when I need to relax I try and drink tea with a hint of lavender in it.

If you don't mind me asking, how do you relax?

[sufferably]

Lavender, huh. Makes sense. Medicinally. ( mumbling, again. he's so bad at this.

the answer to her question could be a quick, "i don't," and not be a lie. but he thinks about it. )

If I ever have time to relax, I'll let you know.

[companioning]

[She can't help but smile. Doctors and forever not relaxing.]

As a Doctor you should know that you should always try and find the time for a bit of relaxation.

Prescribing it to others takes up the time I would have to get it for myself.

[companioning]

Perhaps if you find a free moment, we can meet up for some tea?

[sufferably]

If you're asking, I suppose I could make the time.

[companioning]

Perhaps I should ask more formally?

[She miiiight be teasing him a little.]

Doctor McCoy, would you do me the honor of joining me for tea?

[sufferably]

( he coughs, which is attempt at hiding embarrassment. good job, bones. )

It'd be my pleasure, Miss Inara.

( the "miss" is pronounced "miz," and he suddenly sounds much more southern. )

[companioning]

[She finds the small shift of his accent rather charming and her smile grows.]

Wonderful. Now I suppose the question that needs to be asked is when should I be expecting you?

[sufferably]

You tell me. I can be by whenever suits.

[companioning]

Hmmm... [She thinks for a moment.] How about the day after tomorrow? Late morning? That would give you time to rearrange your schedule should you need to.

[sufferably]

I'll be sure to make it.

[companioning]

Great, I'm quite looking forward to it.
