8 | video + forensics unit filter | MURDER PLOT BODY #1
[ When the feed comes up, Kate is looking grim. Or well, not grim, but serious. There are slight bags under her eyes of her own doing, but her eyes themselves seem to be alive for what feels like the first time in weeks.
She doesn't look happy. In fact, she looks extremely professional, with her mouth in a thin line and her brows furrowed slightly. If you squint, you might just see the cop uniform, the police badge. ]
I need everyone in Asgard to remain inside for the rest of the day if you can. If going outside is necessary, please remain outside of the Odin District.
[ If you're looking at the feed around her, you might recognize an alleyway. It looks like any old alley in the Odin District, so the chances of you recognizing the exact location are slim. Behind her there seems to be a collection of natives - most of whom seem to have a good amount of their color returned, and all of whom look concerned. They're standing behind what looks like a normal piece of rope, held up by two brooms on each side of the opening of the alley.
Kate looks back over her shoulder at them for a minute, which opens up the feed to blood splatter along the wall behind her. There's no view of a body, because she is being very careful to avoid putting that up on the network, but there is enough blood in view for anyone to have a general idea of what's going on. ]
I need everyone to stay behind the rope. Yes, behind the rope, thank you.
[ Kate turns back to the feed, regaining the same professionalism as before. ]
I've been notified by a shopkeep in the Odin District that there's been a murder. We don't know any details yet, but it seems the victim was a native, killed sometime last night. [ She's quiet for a moment, thinking about how much easier this would be if she had more people to call, more things to accomplish, but for now this will do. ] Until the murderer is caught, I would advise everyone to be extremely cautious when they move around the city at night. Don't go out alone, let people know where you're going, and please, please don't go looking for whoever did this.
Just because they seem to have targeted a native does not mean that they won't move on to travelers as well.
If anyone has any information regarding the murder - if you saw or heard anything that you think might be helpful - please feel free to contact me. My name is Kate Beckett and I work with the Forensics Unit out of the Hospital.
Thank you.
[ she cuts the feed off and immediately sets up a filter. ]
FILTERED TO FORENSICS UNIT
I need everyone who does not have any other obligations on site as soon as possible. I've sent the location to each of your bracelets. I've already notified Analie and the rest of the native team to bring all the equipment, but I'd appreciate... [ she looks over her shoulders again at the crowd that seems to still be growing ] any help, really.
It's too early to tell if this is connected to our last case, but I'll let you know if we learn anything. Again, come if you can, and if you can't we'll have a debriefing about it tomorrow morning.
[ ooc: hello everyone! I'm happy to give you the first body, and therefore the first part of the player-run murder plot. If you'd like to be involved with the plot, feel free to contact Owl in that post! This is only the first step in a much longer plot, so don't feel like you're not open to jump in at any time.
Now just to let everyone know, Kate is affiliated with a Traveler-run (with some native hires) Forensics Unit based out of the hospital. She had a post earlier this week mentioning it, but I also wanna put it up here to let everyone know that if you'd like your character to be involved with the Forensics Unit, you can PM me on this account or catch me on plurk (should be in this account under player contact) and we can work out handwaving your character in or getting your character involved. Kate has been working on a sort of directory of colorful natives, which is how she was contacted for this specific murder, and therefore will kind of be taking it over as F.U. territory and will try to keep anyone not involved with the F.U. as distant as possible.
She's open for questioning, of course, and if anyone is curious a description of the murder is over here. Already mentioned in the post, Kate's got it roped off from the natives and also travelers unless she knows you and you're affiliated with the F.U. (which she'd know you through there, so yes) BUT you are free to action it up too!
I've got a tracking post here where I'll try and link everything involved, and I'll try and get posts up for over-all F.U. info too, and I'll link them here when I get that done. I just wanted to get this post up in time! Sorry for the slight delay!

...well, yeah.
But if it happened before, during the dreams? What if she'd sleep-walked, sleep killed? The thought made her a little sick to her stomach, but she didn't actually contact them. It wasn't like she was hard to find.]
video;
How were they killed?! A-and you really think they might do this again?!
video;
[ She shakes her head. ]
There's no telling either way, but it's better to be safe. Do you have someone you can stay with?

She gulps. ]
Ah.. I have some people I could ask, I guess. Do you really think we should stick in groups?

[ The city has never been completely and entirely safe - what city is, really? - but this threat is more direct than a battle, or a looming war. It's something that Kate knows, and knows what to do with. ]
We don't know anything about who did this, but we do know they have the capability for extreme violence. It's better to be safe than sorry, at least for a couple of days.

How were they killed?

Stab wound, to the heart. The subsequent blood loss was probably a contributing factor. But that's also just a theory; there are... [ She presses her mouth in a line, shaking her head. ] There are multiple contusions on the body, I would assume the stab to the heart was what killed them, but I don't know for sure.
video;
That's awful. [ Understatement of the century. ] Do you have any possible ideas as to why? Were they robbed or anything?

Perhaps it would be wise to have this declaration passed out in writing? I do not suppose there is someone available to warn off the entire native population.
video.
Probably a good idea, but I don't have the man-power to spare to do so yet. As for the natives, I'm hoping word of mouth gets around, but even then there's no telling if they'll actually listen.
video.
Some people here have nothing but time. Perhaps asking the Travelers would be wise. Signs can be hanged in every district.

anon text; because it's been awhile
And I do mean the murderer, not the rozzers. You'd be surprised how many idiots try to commit a crime in broad daylight.
text;
Are you actually complimenting the murderer?
anon text;
I see no reason why a job well done should go uncomplimented.

Only as long as you don't touch anything or get in the way.

I'm going to assume you'll want to see it before we move it? The team should be here soon, so I'd hurry up.

Do you have somewhere safe to stay?
Video;
Assuming the housing is safe, I'm still just in my room, at Freyr's housing building at the moment. I guess you probably want us to stay inside for the time being while you try to find out what happened?
[Which, is understandable. Even if knowing she has to stay inside almost makes it feel like a prison the way the tower did after years. The circumstances were different.]

( natasha's at the front of the crowd by the rope, arms crossed and looking appropriately grim. if she looks nervous around the blood, she's not showing it. instead she seems more focused on the investigation going on, though every now and then her eyes will flick down to the body and the scene at hand.
with the arm that has her bracelet, she has the network feed open, the same one that Kate just broadcast, discretely monitoring responses, aware of people behind her nosing in.
it'll be interesting to see how people react. )
action. haaaay gurl hay
He didn't put this body here, of course, but he does so love a good murder in the morning. ]
Makes your heart glad, don't it?
[ Because you look so serious, Natasha. Clearly you're as pleased with all of this as he is. ]
action. omg haiiiiiii
noticing someone near her, she closed the feed and glanced next to her, just barely managing a withering look, before the corners of her mouth turned up. so, it was hard to be angry. he had a point. whoever he was. )
I'm not sure anyone else agrees with you.
( NOT EVEN HER. see? see what she did there?! sweeping him over with a long look, she turned her gaze back to the scene. )
You aren't shocked, dismayed or throwing up. Used to this?
