016 ✿ Audio and Action

[The first thing that Euri's bracelet is recording is the CRUNCH CRUNCH of snow under her boots. She and Dog are out exploring all of Gefion Park today, curious to see how the snow changes the area surrounding her home.]

The snow is pretty nice! It's a lot more than we'd get back home in Fuggum.

Oh - but I had a question. There's a couple of people here who are royalty, right? How does that work, anyway? How do they get castles? Is it different in every world? The humans back home have royalty, and stories about princes and kings being chivalrous and slaying dragons and rescuing damsels in distress. I think if you marry someone royal you become royal, but I don't really know the details.

So! How does royalty work for everyone else?

[She and Dog will be out wandering all over Gefion for a while, so feel free to run into her in person!]

To answer your question, as I am of royal blood myself, my father's family has been the ruling leaders of my country even before I was born or so I was told when I was young. My mother was a noblewoman who my father chose as his wife and after his passing, she inherited the throne to become empress.

You are correct in that there are different levels of nobility, however the concept of a nobleman or noblewoman is still someone whose family has a noble background and mainly deals with the bloodline.

The major difference is titles, which is why I said there's different levels of nobility.

You know I don't understand why there are ranks for nobility as there are ranks for the military. I suppose it comes down to your bloodline and where your family lineage lies. Though my honest feelings on it are while I may be a prince, I do not see myself as different from someone who is not of royal blood.

In terms of its makeup, you are correct in that it's not different. However, many cultures consider those with royal blood to be above those who do not have it.

I would have to agree, since royalty is no different from other people. All we do is uphold the law of the land and protect our people, but in different ways from a soldier or a someone of non-royal blood.

We have a system known as a monarchy, which means there is one ruler and beneath our ruler is the parliament. The parliament is a group of the Emperor or Empress' closest advisers who form a council or parliament to help discuss, make, or uphold laws in place. Of course the parliament also discusses these issues with the ruler, in this case, my mother the Empress, about these various subjects and see if she approves or disapproves. Others such as our Armada's Admirals or even our people of Valua can also seek an audience with my mother as well and ask if she may approve or disapprove of their ideas or plans. Getting an audience with my mother is much harder though for our people than it is the Admirals.

Well it's mostly to seek approval or disapproval from the Empress on their discussions. Since ultimately even with a council of advisers who are citizens of the country, the Empress is the head of the country and the state of it lays in her hands.

Because that is how it has been for Valua since long before I was born.

According to what has been found and recorded by Valuan scholars, the country even during ancient times was ruled by an emperor. But unfortunately, most things from ancient times have been lost so we do not fully understand how that came to be.

Yes, we are still to this day researching about the ancient world of Arcadia.
