[Alexis is sitting in the middle of the library, with a sizable stack of books sitting next to her. There's books about all kinds of things, from mythology and magic to history and philosophy. It's pretty clear that Alexis is in her happy place, though even this can't really replace what she left back home: that is, going to college and starting a new chapter of her life.
But as far as she is concerned, this could be worse. She has her dad, and he's got his friends (namely a certain detective), and at least they can be together.
After awhile of turning pages, Alexis closes the book she's reading and she stretches and yawns. A thought comes to her as she surveys the shelves upon shelves of books.]
Am I the only one here who actually misses school? [She knows she'll have to stop thinking about going to Columbia, at least for now. And maybe this will help her make new friends who think along the same lines that she does.]

School is like a place where lots of people go to learn things. I think it's fun, because I like learning about new things, and my friends are all there.
[She looks curiously at Aradia.]
Alternia's where you're from, right?

[She just smiles brightly.]
Yes I am. You must have spoke to some of my friends already if you know about it. Alternia doesn't seem to be a place most people are familiar with.

But it's not so bad. If we survive the caves, a lusus takes us in and then we work from there to get our hive made. We don't build it though. That's the job for the Imperial Drones.

Sorry, but Alternia really doesn't sound all that nice. I mean, not everything in the world is going to be nice, but that just sounds terrible. [That sounds too much like she's being insulting, which is the last thing she wants, so she adds:] But if you have to fight to survive, then you must be pretty tough.

I guess it isn't, but our society was specifically built for survival. It was to ensure that we were able to handle the hardships that were going to come our way. I do like how humans do things though. It seems rather weird, but not unwelcoming.
