You know, this has been troubling me for some time.

[Hey, Asgard, it's that guy with the clocks for eyes. And this time, he's looking a bit confused.]

So...I had a few questions about a certain phenomenon that occurs often between two people. They go and they, erm, lock lips with one another. Sometimes they put their...[He makes a face.]...tongues in each others mouth. I have no idea why.

But, anyways, what purpose does it serve? Does it exchange genetic material through their saliva? Or is it used as an action to distract the other person? I mean, I've seen it among people who love each other, but...I often notice it between people who don't love each other either. So, it's not exactly a gesture of love, is it?

[A pause as he frowns.]

Basically, what I wanted to ask all of you: what is, exactly, the purpose of kissing?

A waste of perfectly good time, uncomfortable and unpleasant. I'm punching the first joker who tries it on me.

[Yeah, she sort of expected that kissing was going to come up. They'd already talked about hugging competitions. The odds were just too high.]

Oh...oh dear. Physical violence isn't the answer, you could just say no!

I mean, I find it weird, but it's not repulsive...at least, I don't believe it is.

Ugh. The idea of someone getting that close in. Yeah, if the braniac's smart enough to take 'no' as an answer, I'll spare them a swift knee to the groin, but honestly it's pretty much one of the most repulsive things I can imagine, outside of actually 'doing it.'

[This is so bizarre, after hearing so many comments about how it means love and affection and what not, to suddenly hear that it's a disgusting act. WHY IS THIS SO CONFUSING.]

Oh my. And what is "doing it", exactly??

Awww hell, I should have known I'd end up explaining this crap if I opened my mouth. Look, your eyes are funny, so I'll ask once. Are you human or not? If you aren't human, I don't know that it matters at all so don't worry about it.

[Her tone grew darker, more distant the instant he mentioned that he was an angel. Admittedly, he didn't give off the 'Cherubim waving the flaming sword of death and destruction' vibe, but an angel was an angel, and she wasn't known for getting on with them.]

Well, 'doing it' has to do with that whole sharing genetic material thing you mentioned. Procreating, making babies. I kind of doubt angels do that too much.

[Not even remotely true, but no angel that hadn't fallen would in her experience. Maybe he was different, but she couldn't be sure. Still, angels and demons were similar enough, and her father was a demon, so who could say?]

[There's a very uncomfortable pause.]

Oh. Oh. [He instantly looks horrified.] I...see. Oh dear. What, and kissing is part of that? Really?

No, no, we aren't built that way...we do not procreate the ways humans do- in fact, we don't procreate at all. God creates us.

[She actually scowls at the mention of god, but nods. It probably meant they were from different worlds, or that the fallen ones cheated and maybe that was part of why they fell? It wasn't worth dwelling on either way.]

People kiss a lot when they're doing that, yeah. It doesn't always have to do with 'that' every time. Still pretty disgusting, if you ask me. I really don't see the point of letting someone get that close. The whole thing's just messy, awkward, loud, obnoxious and unpleasant.

Well, good for you, miss! If you don't wish to participate in such an uncomfortable act, then that's your choice.

[He frowns, slightly.]

Goodness, though, everyone seems to have different opinions on it- I've heard it range from something vile to an act of assault to a gesture of true love. It's really quite complex, such a simple-looking gesture.

[She almost said something, but her jaw clicked shut and she breathed in and out slowly. Closing her eyes, she simply nodded, going with the second thing that came to mind.]

Yeah, different folks have different thoughts I'll bet. To each their own. I'll pass, thank you very much.

Alright. If that's what you think...really, I would "pass" on it too. I don't really see the point! We angels back home never engage in gestures like that.

No, I don't suppose that you would. Lusts and romance are probably the sorts of things that make angels fall, after all.

[Was there a bit of snarkiness in her voice? Probably. She could be a bit of a bitch at times, after all.]

[There would be a confused moment of blinking here, if Cheriour could actually, you know, blink.]Excuse me?

No, angels never fall because- because of that! We don't even have the, erm, specific body parts which I will not name here to do so! True, some very rare cases of angels have gotten infatuated with human women and abandoned Heaven because of that...but definitely not lust!

You... must be from another world than me. Let's just leave it at that. I'm not too sure how angels work in my world, but there's definitely fallen angels that go in for that crap.

[It wasn't like she was really telling him anything about why she knew this about incubi and succubi. It was a bit common knowledge in some circles, right?

Ok, it wasn't really, but they'd tossed them into a few movies recently, so... who knew, maybe it'd feel normal to say.]
